Gosh .... can't believe I'm here for the very first of the men's SP. Thanks to Edward Appleby for that. I wanted to see him skate "at home." So, another long and enjoyable day of fs. It's going to be a bit of an ajustment to get back to "normal" life after this four-day stay-at-home vacation to England.

Good luck to all.

Gartung
4f nice
2z
3a
3l
he is technically very proficient but I do hope that he finds some voidiness in him or it will be a long few years where we will see him everywhere since there are no other German men to speak of
4z stepout

oh missed a spin apparently? I have to admit, I zoned out a bit :shuffle:

and now the last one does not count? maybe that will be readjusted, no idea, because I have no idea what happenend

Made it to the arena just in time. Garteng’s flip and lutz technique is so ugly. Did he miss a spin? Or was it a choreo move?

People act like Malinin is Garteng. If you want to see a skater with difficult quads who should be getting PCS in the 5s, here you go. There’s nothing redemptive except for the quads.

Yikes, not sure I ever saw a skater miss the last minute of the program like that (after missing and then restarting the spin). :yikes: He was basically trying to catch up and therefore ditching revolutions and footwork throughout.

Gartung is a talented jumper for sure! Hope he can improve the rest of his skating in the upcoming years.

Samoilov
Music: "really slow motion human" I hope not.
4z ur fall
4sal3toe
3a fall, weird fall, he just crumpled
3l
3f step out
I really like his long strokes and smooth skating
3z step out
3f euler 3sal
so much more interesting to watch than Gartung

Samoilov - do a jump, miss a jump…. He’s only human after all. Honestly the quality of the programs and the music has become so bad we should just do improv. At least for the first few groups.

Appleby

3a turn out 2t
3z nice
3a very smooth!
when skating myself I always noticed that jumps that went as well as this one hardly took anything out of me but the ones that were a struggle took a lot of stamina
3l
bit stiff in the footwork
2flip step out
2flip
he really does look tired with half a program to go
2a euler 3sal

The stream went black for a few seconds during the replay :(
My temporary title didn't last - got the :sekret: message :D

Great first half from Edward, good for him! :kickass: Especially the solo 3a and 3lz.

OMG RFAD, haven't heard this in years!! With audience happy clappy to go with it

I admit I’m only half paying attention but Appleby’s score seems low. Did he have an invalid element?

And is Lewton Brain “Daveed” as the announcer says or Davide as in the Italian pronunciation. I always assumed and believed I heard the latter.

He got a SB score. Good for him. He was dog-tired in the 2nd half but that crowd was SO supportive. I'm happy he got to savour the huge ovation and partial standing O at the end.

Wasn't he born France so it would be the French pronunciation?
