Someone please help me with this thread title. I keep trying to figure it out and failing. I know it's a movie title, but I don't get how it relates to the free dance. It's probably something really obvious and I'll feel like an idiot.
There's always a partner for the men. Often not a better one, but always a partner.
You know the guy makes no impact on you when he skated with one of your favorite female ice dancers for years and you still don't recognize him when he takes the ice.
I don't get what possessed them to do this dance two years straight. The La La Land free dance was much more their vibe, even though I don't like La La Land
I believe Emily was injured over the summer. (They weren't able to skate at test skates, if I recall correctly). It makes sense that they kept the free, which served them well at Nationals last year. B/S never skated it at Worlds after all.

My mental rule of thumb:
One open dance spot an Olympiad.
If one takes that as a baseline, one won't be all that shocked when teams like Chock & Bates stay in 7 years after people started predicting they would get out. (Even though there was absolutely no reason to think they would get out then). Also, keep in mind that less experience often means fewer spots anyway.
