I’d have to go back and watch it again to get more specific, but watching last night I felt that lift looked a little funky right from the start. I didn’t think it was going to go down like it did, but I did think they didn’t look totally comfortable as soon as it went up.

I was talking with Jackie Wong, and he pointed out that Danny failed to achieve a complete lock of his arms on the lift mount. In other words, his arm(s) weren't completely straight, which is required in a pairs lift. As a result, the lift was invalid from the start, even before the fall. Possibly Danny was aware of this himself, and that led to further issues.

I'll add to that by saying not locking out on a lift is incredibly hard to keep holding. Probably why it was put down. It's like holding a push up halfway down.

What happened/how bad was the fall on the lift for poor K/O? :(

This: it was already an issue on the way up into the lift. It looked like a clean and jerk, rather than a straight lift. The balance was off by that point, but I thought they might have saved it from going down, if not the points.

He did what a Pairs guy is supposed to do, ie, let her fall on top of him, if he she was going down.

Their reaction to their score is really quite something. (Worthy of Tursy-POTS. ;) :gallopin1 )

ETA: The fact that U.S. Figure Skating assigned MacBeath & Parkman to the Olympic test event suggests that Parkman either is already an American citizen or will have citizenship very soon. It would be weird for the federation to assign a couple to the test event who could not possibly go to the big event itself.

I don't really think so. It's a literal test event for organizers to test the venue and the functionality, nothing more.

That said, I've had a few talks with him in the past especially when he was posting about no longer wanting anything to do with the Georgian Federation, so I messaged him asking the question directly. Will report back.

Double-post, but the press release for the event says the entries (1 competitor/team per nation with up to 2 substitutes listed and the entries were determined by order they were received until the rosters were maxed out) needed to be submitted by January 17. I don't believe there's been any hint of a competitor list yet, and maybe M/P were either the only ones listed or the best choice of the ones listed - to which maybe they wanted to be assigned.

I was thinking sort of the opposite in that maybe mcbeath/parkman want the olympic test event precisely because they know they can't make the olympics and think it'd be fun to do this instead
