Obviously a lot of work to be done on the technical elements, but they have a nice style, and the beginnings of a real partnership, and that's good to see in a new, young pair.

93.23 = 1st Place
145.11 = 1st Place

Desrochers and Thrasher were quite enjoyable! Kept up the oomph and the ChSq was nice.

Jazmine Desrochers/Kieran Thrasher 🇨🇦

Music: Since I’ve Been Loving You by Led Zeppelin

Triple Twist 4
2A+1A+2A+SEQ - Jazmine with a turn on the 3rd jump landing
Throw 3Lo
Reverse Lasso Lift 4

Throw 3S - two-footed
Back Outside Death Spiral 3
Hand-to-Hip Lift 4

So much stronger than the short program, and showing more of their potential as a pair.

108.45 = 1st Place
162.90 = 1st Place

I love this version of R&J.
Albeit I think I love all versions of R&J, only this one is less overused.

I'm really not fond of the boy. Yuxuan is doing all the heavy lifting in the couple.

I'm not sure why Juliet was shot in the end, but overall it's a pleasant program to watch. Really weaker than D/Th though.

He has to work on the throwing technique, some better basics would be nice too.

Yuxuan Chen/Yinbo Dong 🇨🇳
Rank after SP: 4
Coach: Yang Ding, Xibei Li
Music: Romeo and Juliet by Abel Korzeniowski

3F+2Aq+SEQ - Yinbo with a big step out
Triple Twist 3
Throw 2F
3T
Back Inside Death Spiral 2
Axel Lasso Lift
4 (3 after review)
Throw 2Lo
Hand-to-Hand Lift 4
Choreo Sequence

Pair Combo Spin 4

Their strength is the side-by-side jumps, and solid triple twist. The throws are still in the early stages of development, and the heigh difference limits some of the choreography that's possible, and/or looks good on them.

97.39 = 2nd Place
153.02 = 2nd Place

She has a star quality at 13. Really nice back and posture in general, more stretch in the lifts than most Chinese pairs and already popping off 3F+2A+2A. Those throw triples will come.

Ava Kemp/Yohnatan Elizarov 🇨🇦
Rank after SP: 3
Coach: Kevin Dawe, Lee Barkell
Music: Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy

Triple Twist 3
3S+1A+SEQ - Ava with a hand down on both jumps, called fall
3T<< - Ava fell

Throw 3Lz
Hand-to-Hip Lift 4
Throw 3Lo
Pair Combo Spin 4
Reverse Lasso Lift 4
Choreo Sequence

Back Outside Death Spiral 3

Ava struggling with the consistency, and confidence in her solo jumps. Once they got past those elements the rest of the program was lovely, and the landing on the throw triple loop in particular was very strong.

-2.00 = Falls
103.64 = 1st Place
166.46 = 1st Place

Ava is having a day off, but this is a beautiful program. Tbh I kind of prefer this to Du/De :p
Nice basics, and they have the most mature look at this competition.

I don't have a lot to add, I think they have potential. Nicely matched, he's a bit of a diva on ice, but she balances him out. I would appreciate if he wore an actual shirt but here we are.

Talking about shirts, Feng could do with half the material.

Hate THoND.

They are going element to element with mixed success so far. I kind of prefer the Canadian pairs.

In the terms of choreogprhy, Z and F just randomally go in circles periodically bumping into each other.
Great throws, not much else.

I'm not a fan.

Xuanqi Zhang/Wenqiang Feng 🇨🇳
Rank after SP: 2
Coach: Yang Ding, Jiayuan Du
Music: Notre Dame de Paris by R. Cocciante

3T< - Xuanqi fell
2A+2A+2T+SEQ - quite far apart
Triple Twist 3
Throw 3F
Reverse Lasso Lift
4 (3 after review)
Forward Outside Death Spiral 4
Choreo Sequence
Throw 3Lo
Hand-to-Hand Lift 3
Pair Combo Spin 4

Very strong technical elements after the fall on the opening side-by-side jump. Program not to the same level as the Canadians, but they performed well today.

-1.00 = Falls
108.68 = 1st Place
171.57 = 1st Place

Quad twist, throws that are standard brilliance out of China, and then a SBS 2Lo with struggles towards the end of the program. Besides that, though, so very good!

I kind of like this program, but at the same time kind of hate it. The middle section was really unnecessary.

They started strongly but somewhat fizzled out by the end, lost speed and just looked unsure of what they are doing. Given the mistakes from the Canadian teams, I'd expect them to be runaway winners but it will be closer than should have been.

Rui Guo/Yiwen Zhang 🇨🇳
Rank after SP: 1
Coach: Hongbo Zhao, Jinlin Guan, Wei Zhang, J. Du
Music: The Greatest Showman

Quadruple Twist 2
Throw 3F - hung on
2A+1A+2Aq+SEQ
Throw 3S
Reverse Lasso Lift 4
Forward Outside Death Spiral 4
Pair Combo Spin
4 (3 after review)
2Lo
Hand-to-Hand Lift 4
Choreo Sequence

Strong technical elements, and some nice tricks, but the program lacks any connection, or musicality.

113.21 = 1st Place
177.05 = 1st Place

They will still run away with it! Almost 10.5 points on the twist alone.

q on the final 2A in the SEQ
