2025 Cup of China Mens SP PBP - Yesterday (All My Wobbles Seemed So Far Away)

The Host does and they supply the ISU feed. 🤷

Anyway, I generally say "Never ascribe to malice what can be explained by incompetence" so I'm not saying it's on purpose, just saying it's a bad look.
They must want Tomoki on the US team too, then.

Anyways, they supply the feed but the ISU graphics are working perfectly fine for the skater titles, start orders, and scores. China can't exactly hack that one aspect of graphics. This happens a lot in events early in the day. 🤷‍♂️

I almost wish the tech tracker would permanently stay off the screen. Adds much more intrigue.

Flying Camel Spin 3

Gauntlet thrown - what a wonderful skate for Tomoki with all the quality, speed, and performance we've always wanted from him.

Way to go, Tomoki! Think the 3axel was not all way around ... yup, Chris just said so. Level 2 on one of the spins. Oh well .... I enjoyed it too, Tomoki. Love his little celebration at the end of his skate ... sort of like my husband after he (almost always) wins at cards.

Tomoki needs a lenient panel in every competition to have hopes of Olympics. That's what it comes down to. A strict panel is going to town on him and they will if need be at Nationals.

Vladimir Litvintsev 🇦🇿
Coach: Viktoria Butsaeva, Evgeni Vlasov
Music: Leon by Eric Serra

4T - landing was stiff
3A - tight landing, slightly pitched forward
Flying Camel Spin 4
3F+3T - large step out
Change Foot Sit Spin 2
Step Sequence 2

Change Foot Combo Spin 4

Jumps were all a bit tight, and stiff, but the performance was nice, and the program seems like a good vehicle for him.

73.84 = 3rd Place

Volchkova looks the exact same as she did 25 years ago. Got nothing much on Vladimir, he tries but I still think the really soft stuff suits him best.

3T was short for sure, if you count the wild twisted takeoff then the 4Lz was too but not sure about the landing.

Loop was short too.

Even the Axel from that angle looked maybe slightly short but not like the other instances.

He feels the music in his own kind of way but even the footwork he's opting for shows the looseness and kinda unstable balance in his skating.

I think he looks a bit more stable since training in Japan. Not so herky-jerky in his jump technique. Agree work still to he done though.

Daniel Grassl 🇮🇹
Coach: Edoardo De Bernadis
Music: Tango per la liberta (soundtrack)

4Lzq+3T - turn between jumps
4Lo

3A
Flying Sit Spin 4
Step Sequence 3
Change Foot Camel Spin 4

Change Foot Combo Spin 4

Rotation calls will be key for Grassl. I would want to have close look at both parts of the combination at the very least. Music from an Italian mini-series that I'm sure will play well should he make the Olympic team.

90.42 = 1st Place

Daniel Grassl ... the gumbo man. My hips actually hurt when I see him do those contortionist positions in the spin combo. Good skate for Daniel. I thought the loop was all the way round. We shall see.

ETA: And he goes into 1st place. Good for him!
