2024 U.S. Sectional Singles & Pairs/Ice Dance Finals - Coral Springs FL; Tacoma WA; Bloomington MN

The top 2 Intermediate men in NQS from Mids -- Louis Mallane (#1 in country) & Mikhail Mokhov (#4; younger brother of the Mohkov pair team) -- are warming up now in the 2nd group.

ETA:

Mallane (Spider-Man by Michael Buble) landed 3Lz, 2A, 3S hand down/no combo - leads with 40.94. Eddie Shipstad was with him in k&c.

Mokhov (upbeat techno music; his mom is coaching him here) eked out a 3T & landed 3S+2T (falls on a twizzle IIRC & hard on 2A :() and is in 2nd.

Top 2 Novice men will advance to Nationals in Junior.

I was hoping to re-watch Zenith Chen's 2nd place SP - he landed 3S, 2T(planned 3)+2T, 2A + level 4 steps! - but I don't see his video on USFS' YT channel :( (maybe a music issue with his cover of "What A Wonderful World"?). ETA the timestamped link to watch his program in the livestream replay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0hQayHdA-U&t=3775s
Mary Beth Marley is one of his coaches in the Chicago area.
Update - this was posted by USFS in the Juvenile PD #2 live chat: "Zenith Chen's Novice Men skate was uploaded but must've been restricted by youtube's copyright policy. We're doing the best we can to make as much content available as possible!"

Zenith Chen's Novice Men SP video has appeared! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmqLRFz5O2M

ETA that I also enjoyed Thomas Chen's 3rd place Novice SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfDKNrRjDQY
Benjamin Miller & Molly Oberstar are the coaches with him in his home state of MN.

Ryedin Rudedenman's "Born This Way" Novice SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6LZ02ol7rU
Landed solo 3Lz cleanly in SP at LA Autumn Classic but doubled it yesterday. Ryedin is also competing with his sister in Intermediate Dance here and his older siblings are competing together in Novice Dance! All of them are coached by their older sister.

ETA #2:
Louis Mallane won the [Intermediate Men] SP (40.94) skating a fun program to Buble's Spider-Man and landed a clean 3Lz, 2A & 3S (hand down)+1T.

Kudos to USFS for uploading these videos as quickly as ISU does in the JGP series! (even if they will not stay up for too long)

Annabelle Wilkins 1st place short program in Intermediate women was really unique with the futuristic robot theme. Loved it. Worth watching.

I also liked Scarlett Sherlock’s program to tribal sounding music and her costume and hair were pretty amazing in addition to her skating.

Is Rylen Lukanin the daughter of Kristin Fraser and Igor Lukanin?

Very cool to see two sisters skating together earlier in this event!

Junior Rhythm Dance

Hauer/Starr

So nice to see them back on the ice. Neat feet and strong edges Would like to see them "let go" more. Off sync on twizzles until third set. Great basics.

"The Best" by Tina Turner was Hauer/Starr's music. Svetlana Kulikova is with them in the k&c.

@Sk8fun is the Juvenile Girls livestream audio working now for you now?

Loved Hauer/Starr. They look so much better now that he is not wearing a bulky jacket. Their personas in the KnC are just as fun and cool as I expected.

Pederson/Chen

She wobbled out of second set of twizzles, third set completed out of sync. Dynamic and crisp movement. Spacing is inconsistent, which is a telltale sign of a new partnership, but otherwise, they looked quite comfortable together.
