After years of “Hook ‘em Horns” when Texas was Big 12 it is nice knowing that ended tonight. Also the two schools in the championship have great tradition with their marching bands. This should be fun.
I mean, I can't really be upset that Texas lost and the SEC has been vanquished. Again, another team that hurt the FBS conference landscape by abandoning the Big 12 for the SEC.

Conference realignment news is sort of quiet at the moment. We'll see what happens once the Pac 12 gets its media deal worked out.

Yes, I am tired of this too. The Big 12 looks so strange geographically though I welcome the new members. I know the big money is with football but I love college hoops and like a lot of the new folks. But enough already.

The weird thing is that it feels like this is all leading toward 2-4 super-conferences of 16-20 teams that wind up with 2 divisions each, probably grouped geographically, and it will look suspiciously like the old Pac 12, Big 12, B1G, SEC, & ACC with a dash of the MWC & AAC, but some of the teams will wind up in Group of 5 status and be really butthurt.

I will always look back fondly on the Big Eight. It made sense geographically, the travel time was minimal and though I did tire of watching Kansas football teams get squished by Nebraska and Oklahoma I knew basketball was just around the corner.
I look at Nebraska football now and believe leaving the conference killed their success.

Definitely. I fondly remember the Pac 10, but was glad to welcome Utah & Colorado when they came along & thought they were a good fit, culturally, with the rest of the Pac.

I have to say, I can’t imagine a football game that would interest me less than Ohio State versus Notre Dame. i’m going to be that person holding up a sign that says “I just hope they both lose“

That would totally be me if I were watching the Steelers-Ravens NFL playoff game tonight, LOL
