I haven't followed any of the athletics "journalists"/bloggers you mentioned and I've only recently discovered GymCastic. My issue with GymCastic is that she infuses her political views into some of her commentary and discussions - it's subtle but it's off-putting enough that I won't subscribe to her platform for additional content. I don't know enough about the sport to be able to recognize whether she's fair or neutral in her actual analysis - I think she tries to be, but you're right that there is an element of giddiness and, yeah, "pick me, let me be a part of your club!" to her presentation style.Sidebar: IMHO, the Citius, LetsRun.com, and FloTrack “journalists” are ridiculous. They are mostly fanboys who are too much of a “pick-mes” to objectively cover the sport. I feel the same about GymCastic with gymnastics. ?
It just seems pointless if you are not going to be eliminating anyone…I think at Olympic Trials, they make the athletes compete the exact event that they would be doing at the Olympics. So, because an event like the 100m hurdles will have rounds-semifinals-final, then they run it like that.
if there's anything the us thrives on it's pointless things that we started ages ago and just do out of habit now regardless if it makes sense or notIt just seems pointless if you are not going to be eliminating anyone…
Wow - Sha'Carri just misses the team!
But kudos to Gabby Thomas, Brittany Brown and McKenzie Long for making it to Paris!
And she's made a qualifying jump! Into the Final!WAIT. Davis-Woodhall has two fouls and has only one more chance to make a legal jump and in the top eight to advance?! ?
That wasn’t really a textbook jump. She was too far back but it was good enough to get into the final and that’s all that matters. And she's made a qualifying jump! Into the Final!
I really think Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone made a mistake not trying to make the 400m team here also. There were 4 days between the 400m final and the start of the 400m hurdles giving her time to rest up for the hurdles. If she's ever going to do it now would have been the time when she's in her absolute prime but it doesn't seem like she wants to push herself beyond the hurdles even though she ran something like 48.75 in the 400m which was a world leading time. To be truly historically great sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone. Yes she's already the greatest 400m female hurdler of all time but imagine winning a gold medal in both hurdles and sprints at the same Olympics.
That was a fantastic finish! Amazing!!!!!!What a finish in the women's 10k! That race looks like pure torture.
If she keeps going to LA in 2028 and i don't see why not that would be the time to go for the 400m title she really has nothing to prove in the 400m hurdles anymore especially if she wins again in Paris. Her coach is Bob Kersee who is fairly conservative about his runners running different races.
