For his short program, Jimmy is trying a new style. “The idea behind it was Mr. Bean vibes. You try to act so cool, but it kind of looks cheesy. I had a long chat-slash-argument with Nikolai about this, because I’ve done a lot of different programs, and he was like, ‘you could go comfortable. You can do anything that you want. But this is something you haven’t done. So let’s try it.’”
The comedy approach is a challenge. “I like more serious programs than fun, despite what people think of my personality. I like something serious that I can skate with, like, a resting bitchface. So this program is actually the hardest one that I’ve had to do in terms of putting up that facade. And then the second half is from Cowboy Bebop, so I have to kind of make a balance of trying to act cool and actually being cool.”

Jimmy’s free skate is to a Mozart medley, including Lacrymosa and the Lacrymosa remix by Apashe. “It’s more serious, but with a Jimmy-quoting-Nathan-Chen twist to it. If you ever watched him skate it, you’ll probably recognize what I’m talking about.”

Celestino has the Worlds SP minimum (34.98 TES at ISU CS IceChallenge 2022) but still needs the FS minimum.

I have a soft spot for Celestino and you know, at least he was trying to be fun and fill that Adam Rippon vaguely clubbing in a partially sheer shirt niche

On the tracker I think they called his Axel a triple, but was a double.

Music was fast and the program kept moving, unfortunately he just doesn't really move enough to give it an oomph and move with it.

Such little prep for the jumps! Nice choreography into and out of the elements! An almost-Biellmann position! I enjoy this a lot!

The one thing I don't really love are how his fingers sometimes are spread wide open on the handography, but there's a lot of sharp movement that he maybe needs more time to get into.

I can tell he's worked hard at hitting accents in the music. I can't wait to see this end of season when it's more ingrained in muscle memory.

Ilia needs to lose about 3/4 of the armography. It's distracting.

Clean as a whistle, and he's clearly been working on the presentation. Good job hitting the musical accents. Well done. He looks really happy.

I like this costume for Malinin. The cut is flattering and a bit retro, and the colour brings out his hair. Spins still tragic.

I think his arms still get a little out of his control at times, but this is a great program for him! Like it's really intricate and landing a 3a then going right into a spin is kind of baller
