2023-24 US Pairs Discussion - Chan you count Howe many teams we have?

It's honestly a quite low TES minimum but hey whatever works...
LOL - all it does is ensure there will be at least 12 teams at Nats in Senior Pairs in most all likelihood - Chan/Howe and Kam/O'Shea have byes and won't need to meet the TES mins.

Fitzpatrick/Bearinger, Hanns/Neudecker, Korytek/Chapman, Liu/Nagy, Martins/Bedard, McBeath/Parkman, Mokhova/Mokhov, Ouellette/Newby-Estrella, & Plazas/Fernandez = 9

Digerness/Sadusky, Efimova/Mitrofanov, Scott/Siianytsia = 3

That's 14 teams right there, so the Pairs Final should be pretty exciting since there actually WILL be a need to skate well in order to qualify for Nats.

Instastory video snippet of applause for Natasha Kuchiki 👏 on her first visit to the United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs:

I heard from someone going to watch D/S that the medical team was called on the ice after H/N's skate and that she fainted. Can't tell from protocol where or how. They don't know either because they came late.

Hoping a speedy comeback for Grace.
Well, just reading over the protocol does tell us a lot.
  • fall on their SBS 3T (no idea who, of course)
  • throw 3f was flawed enough to get -1.59 GOE (probably at least a hand down)
  • 2nd lift had a major error with -2.32 GOE (no fall, but it was only called a L1, so it most certainly came down early)
  • she fell on the throw 3lo
  • the last lift also received negative GOE and was only called base level
  • and there was a fall on their pairs combo spin (no idea who, but it was only one of them since there was only 3.0 deductions for falls altogether)
Altogether, that was one ROUGH program.

If only we were in Canada and had live streaming 😂

Mark and Nica- I can only say from third-hand gorgeous lifts, choreo, and skating skills. Not a difficult program in triples/etc. (V on the last spin) but almost everything they did was plus goe both on the ice and on paper.

At John Nicks international, Mohkova/Mokhov scored 145.75.
And Hanns/Neudecker did compete at Nicks international, scoring 137.53.

Can't tell whether or not you intentionally are ignoring Nicks international??
I know Nicks scores don't count for ISU SB, and I know it was a U.S.-hosted international.
But Nicks is an international competition.

Maybe you mistitled your list?

We’ll also hopefully see Efimova/Mitrofanov at some point.

People make mistakes. I only counted ISU SB's as I mentioned on the other discipline threads. Fixed now.

A grand tradition of beautiful Skating continues in Oberstdorf, Germany at the Nebelhorn Trophy. Today’s freeskate was one of the strongest pair events I’ve attended as a coach. A big step forward, a great skate, and a happy day, congratulations, Valentina and Max! ...
Plazas/Fernandez had 2 ISU personal bests at Nebelhorn Trophy 169.37 (total) and 114.44 (7th in FS; 58.77 TES / 55.67 PCS) - elements copied from their protocol:

maybe country change?? idk efimova likely has finnish citizenship and it may be easier than skating for the US
Doubtful. I think they just went over there so she has some time to visit family, etc.

The German fed specifically released her to skate for the USFS. There is no way the USFS is going to release a former 4CCs Champ like Misha to skate for another country, plus they were very present at Champs Camp. I expect they'll be back in time for the Boston Open in another week and a half.
