Got any names?
Names have not been released yet. But from my chat with them in John Nicks, I know Carpenter/Maravilla are doing both NQS for Junior Pairs -- unless they decide to withdraw. They are not in the NQS Standings as yet so they need to do one or both of these events. Colorado used to have four teams when sched was first released, but now only one junior pair team.

... But from my chat with them in John Nicks, I know Carpenter/Maravilla are doing both NQS for Junior Pairs -- unless they decide to withdraw. They are not in the NQS Standings as yet so they need to do one or both of these events. ...

Per NQS handbook ... for the purpose of NQS standings, it is supposed to be possible to utilize Nicks international scores (assuming that skaters completed the proper paperwork in advance).
So far, none of the relevant Nicks scores (for Carpenter/Maravilla plus several senior pairs) have been added to NQS standings -- but I hope they will be added soon.

IIRC, all Lake Placid Ice Dance International scores and Lake Placid NQS scores were added to NQS standings at the same time. No delay in adding the international scores.

But for pairs, only Mid-Atlantics NQS scores were promptly added to NQS standings. 🤔

Update (a few hours later):
Among new additions today to NQS standings is Nicks score for Carpenter/Maravilla.
Also Nicks scores for Plazas (with completely wrong name for partner); for Mokhova/Mokhov; and for Ouellette/Newby-Estrella.
Nicks score for Hanns/Neudecker has not yet been added, so they still do not appear in NQS standings at all.
(Because Fletcher/Felberbaum and Martins/Bedard scored higher at previous events, it is correct that their Nicks scores were not added.)

Is Nickolai Apter, the novice pairs guy, related to Nikolai Apter, Tutberidze’s ex?

this is Broadmoor sched with the number of skaters competing
4 Novice teams - here are the known Novice teams - I've added Grohne/Lunt to this group because it seems pretty likely they're not competing up a level next week at Broadmoor and would be more likely to compete Novice. Guessing on the other 3 Novice teams - seems like the two PNW teams (Finkelstein/Williams and Lu/Lu) plus Kovar/Apter would be the most likely, but Tanner/Herbert could be traveling too.

Novice teams
Clara Finkelstein/Mark Williams 91.88 (Golden West), 78.43 (Glacier Falls)
Jolena Grohne/Reede Lunt (89.42 at non-NQS Cup of Colorado in Novice)
Milada Kovar/Nickolai Apter 93.24 (Golden West)
Joyce Lu/Wyatt Lu 88.22 (Golden West)
Taisiya Shapovalova/Sebastian Malczyk 98.00 (Golden West), 93.59 (Glacier Falls) (his older brother, Damian, has been assigned to represent Czechia in men at JGP #5 Budapest & JGP #6 Gdandsk)
Tallulah Tanner/Sam Herbert 88.95 (Battle of the Blades)
Tyler VanWagner/Patrick VanWagner 37.14 (Middle Atlantics)

It seems more likely than not that Grohne/Lunt are going to wind up competing Novice this year - their scores from non-NQS Cup of Colorado fit right in almost all of the known novice field domestically. I think they stand a better chance of making it to Nationals as one of the 4 Novice teams rather than trying to move up to juniors before he's ready.

There's a team in Oakton that is supposed to be in novice, but they haven't surfaced yet. Am wondering if they'd compete this year. I think they are Michael Chappa/Baylen Taich

oh, that’s Chris K as their coach. Park Ridge, Illinois, that’s what I was born, fun fact so was Hillary Clinton. I wonder where exactly this ice rink is

I wonder where Alexa and Chris moved to as Park Ridge isnt exactly close to where I thought they were going to Addison/ Glen Ellyn

Is Brandon living and coaching in California?
Yes, he is still coaching at Great Park Ice and that's why he has accompanied Liu/Nagy and Martins/Bedard to CS Autumn Classic.

From a May 2023 Fan Zone article at the end of Knierim/Frazier's season:
Frazier, a student at the University of California, Irvine, has an internship at the investment banking giant Goldman Sachs when he finishes out the tour.
"I'm off school until September, where I will continue with my last year of my bachelor's degree," he said. "I'm studying to get degrees in finance and accounting and hope to go into investment banking eventually. Ultimately, I want to pursue an MBA, but I am not sure if that will be right away or take a couple of years where I work first."
Knierim/Frazier are scheduled to perform in the Scott Hamilton & Friends show in Nashville on November 19, 2023: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...mber-20-2022-nov-19-2023.109842/#post-6466529

Chelsea and Balasz could be a real force to reckon with well…

The twists and the lifts are amazing. I think they have the best twist and lifts at autumn classic
Sure... and when was the last time Chelsea landed a SBS triple?

They're just a holding piece until McBPark are able to compete internationally.

Martins/Bedard had a comeback with 152.64 at Autumn Classic.
Still don't understand the decision to send Hanns/Neudecker to Skate America with their 137 at Nicks, maybe just strategical.

Martins/Bedard don't have any assignments during that time do they?

There are only a limited number of pairs internationals after Finlandia.

Tayside Trophy - USFS has it on their Int'l Assignments page
Budapest Trophy - same weekend as Tayside & pairs isn't a Challenger event
Trophee Metropole Nice Cote d'Azur

Warsaw Cup (not a pairs Challenger event)
Golden Spin

I do think it is likely a strategic choice to get as many pairs as possible out to events where they can earn SB scores.

We'll have to see how Scott/Siianytsia look whenever they make their competition debut. If they're on or near the same level as the teams that have been sent out so far, it wouldn't surprise me to see them assigned to Golden Spin along with McBeath/Parkman. That would give the US 9 teams on the SB list going into next season.

I think Hanns/Neudecker should have gotten Autumn Classic and Martins/Bedard Skate America but I guess they didn't have enough time and H/N weren't performing well to make that decision fast enough

Scott/Siianytsia look like they are ready to go and compete immediately. As soon as he announced his split I had a gut feel he already found a partner in line.

As I said earlier in the week/last weekend, I don't think it matters, in the grand scheme of things who gets SkAm vs a Challenger. Neither team looks to be finishing higher than 7th at SkAm.

Gosh I can't wait for Mcbeath/Parkman & Efimova/Mitrafanov 😍

Also anyone know what is with Digerness/Sadusky?
I would like to know this also. I talked to Mark at the FOFS breakfast this past nationals (he was one of only 3 current skaters to show up) and I said "y'all please do not break up" and he promised not to but that doesn't mean they won't quit.:( Nothing on either of their IG since Nationals. He's a very nice young man.

God no. They're both 8 years younger than he and aren't age-eligible for seniors until 2026-27.

ETA - @Sylvia beat me to it, but yeah no...

I was looking through the list of US senior pairs women who competed in the last 2 seasons and are currently partnerless - Megan Wessenberg, Laiken Lockley, Cate Fleming, Kate Finster, and Winter Deardorff. I'd be interested in seeing what Laiken or Winter could do with a really strong partner like Danylo.

Nebelhorn assignments are out - Kam/O'Shea, the Mokhovs and Plazas/Fernandez are assigned (Liu/Nagy and SmirSiia are listed as substitutes - which indicates to me the USFS didn't really have any idea this split was coming).

JGP #6 Gdansk assignments are also out - just Williams/Lewer assigned (Flores/Wang are the only subs).
Kate Finster retired a bit ago. Last I heard Winter Deardorff was paired with Ryan Dodds and was skating for Australia, but I can only find one competition they entered. https://www.nswisa.com/ice/images/u..._Trophy/2022_Hollins_Trophy_Entry_List_v3.pdf

I REALLY wish Megan would find a partner, and Winter too if she doesn't have one.

They, moreso Mark than Nica, regularly post on their IG stories, which disappear after 24 hours. They're still skating and I think they plan on competing this year - at least one recent IG story implied they would be, but they haven't turned up at any competition yet. I'm not prepared to write them off unless they don't compete at the local-for-them Broadmoor Fall Classic next weekend.

Pretty sure that Winter and Ryan split after that one competition together.

Oh thank you! I rarely catch IG stories, I hate that disappear after 24 hours thing.

So sorry for Winter, she's been through so many partners. Please skating Gods, send a partner to Winter and Megan and anyone else who wants a partner. Winter isn't on IPS, I hope she hasn't given up!
