2023-24 US Pairs Discussion - Chan you count Howe many teams we have?

As long as the scores are higher than the 140s we have been getting with our Sr teams 😂
Yeah, even if Alisa still struggles with her triples, we know how high she and Blommaert scored last year. One has to presume the scoring potential is similar with Misha, even with missed jumps.

I really wanted Martins/Bedard to get that spot.
Martins/Bedard vs Hanns/Neudecker this season 2023

Martins/Bedard
157 at Glacier, 135 at John Nicks

Hanns/Neudecker
126 at Cup Of Colorado, 137 at John Nicks

2 points away doesn't seem like a big deal at one competition, but 157 is much more promisable......maybe Isabelle is injured?

Thing is, if you watch Martins/Bedard's FS from John Nicks... they're really not ready. Maybe they'll look better with better filming at ACI this week, but I can see the logic in the USFS giving Hanns/Neudecker the SkAm slot. Martins/Bedard at least have ACI this week and an opportunity to earn a SB and get on the alternates list (presuming the GP Hosts commission are doing the same thing with the pairs alternates list that they did last season and adding all teams who earn the total minimum score at one of these first 4 Challengers to the GP alternates list).

Maybe that's why Neudecker deleted the post

Can the US send another team - even though no one is listed as a substitute?
No.

At least Zheng/Deng got their opportunity to debut on the JGP in Linz and Fletcher/Felberbaum made their junior international debut at John Nicks last week. They are the only other age-eligible junior pairs in the ISP (besides Flores/Wang and Williams/Lewer).

Haley Scott
I've seen Haley since she was a juvenile skater. At the Eastern Sectionals in Boxborough MA she brought the house down when she competed in Intermediate - she was so tiny yet so good. Too bad long Covid took a toll on her, and recovery was long and tough. So I am glad to see her skating again. Been waiting for her to pop up in the scene.

What I posted during Eastern Sectionals in Nov. 2022 when Haley competed in the Senior Women's event:
I'm hoping Haley Scott may still be interested in pursuing pairs (I first noticed her talent as an Intermediate at Liberty many years ago and the late Tinami liked her too).
Haley had started skating with Blake Eisenach earlier this summer (he posted a clip of them in June) but he has since joined a new Disney on Ice tour.

Woohoo!!! I think there had been a rumored potential partnership between Scott and Blake Eisenach, but it appeared to not work out. So glad to see Daniil has found a new partner! Their post makes it seem like they have every intention of competing this season - wonder if they'll get a bye to the US Pairs Final or if they're planning on competing at one of the last two pairs NQS comps.

Senior teams
Chan/Howe ISP (bye) [CoC and NHK Trophy]
Digerness/Sadusky (guessing we'll see them compete at the Broadmoor Fall Classic)
Fitzpatrick/Bearinger 130.22 (Middle Atlantics), 152.54 (Battle of the Blades)
Hanns/Neudecker ISP 137.53 (John Nicks IPC)
Kam/O'Shea ISP (bye) [Nebelhorn, Finlandia, GPdF and GP Espoo]
Liu/Nagy ISP 175.91 (Glacier Falls), [Autumn Classic Int'l, Finlandia & SkAm]
Martins/Bedard ISP 135.17 (John Nicks IPC), 157.05 (Glacier Falls) [Autumn Classic Int'l]
Mokhova/Mokhov ISP (CoC conflicts with the US Pairs Final, so they should have a bye to Nats as a result) 145.75 (John Nicks IPC, Nebelhorn, CoC]
Ouellette/Newby-Estrella ISP 131.37 (John Nicks IPC)
Plazas/Fernandez ISP (bye) 161.51 (John Nicks IPC) [Nebelhorn, SkAm and GPdF]
Scott/Siianytsia

Efimova/Mitrofanov* (eligible for the ISP in April 2024) (guessing we'll see them first compete at the Boston Open)

Korytek/Chapman* 156.18 (Glacier Falls) (age-ineligible)
McBeath/Parkman* 181.39 (Middle Atlantics), 170.46 (Glacier Falls) (eligible for the ISP in Dec 2023)

Final 2 NQS comps for pairs are:

Broadmoor Fall Classic, Sept. 21-24 Colorado Springs, Colorado
Boston Open, Oct. 5-8 Norwood, Massachusetts

Chelsea Liu/Balazs Nagy scored 56.09 (30.22 TES; Worlds SP min. is 29) and are in 4th place in their international debut together at Autumn Classic International.
@clairecloutier tweeted a pic+quote from the mixed zone afterwards: https://twitter.com/ClaireCloutier/status/1702455180900417575
Liu/Nagy said they both considered leaving the sport after their last partnerships ended, but decided to give it one more shot and are really enjoying their new partnership. #ACI23

In their second international in 2 weeks (CS debut here), Isabelle Martins/Ryan Bedard are 7th (51.49, 28.21 TES) of 10 teams - photo in mixed zone: https://twitter.com/ClaireCloutier/status/1702431120066043926
Martins/Bedard with Brandon Frazier, one of their coaches. They were happy with their SP at #ACI23.

Liu/Nagy's quotes from the mixed zone after their SP (scroll down): https://twitter.com/AnythingGOE/status/1702458580253720888
Nagy: “We're happy because we skated the way we've been training for the most part and on every program we want to make one correction and just progress through the season as the programs go.”
They tried out in April and started skating together in May
(on programs)
Liu: “It took us forever to choose short program music!”
Nagy: “I think both programs. I made a Spotify playlist and said add what you like and kick off what you don't and we settled on three or four that were like ‘these were acceptable’.”
Liu on coming back to skating:
“I too thought I was done with skating at one point. That was my eighth concussion. I just finished college, graduated with my bachelors degree (...) I took eight months off the ice to recover and at that point didn't know if skating
was in the picture for me but my parents encouraged me that if it's something I still want to do, if I still have a goal, unfinished business, then they support me. With their help and our team of coaches who give me the best resources, it was an easy decision to come back.”

Am I the only one finding it a little worrying that Chelsea mentioned she’s had 8 concussions?
More than a little... but, yesterday showed she still can't land a solo triple consistently, so has anything really changed?
