2023 - 2024 March to the Super Bowl - Rodgers, Allen, Purdy, Burrows, Hurts, Mahomes et all

I witnessed a spectacular play that didn't count because of a penalty. But I do hope that it is remembered particularly, years later, when Travis K. goes into the Hall of Fame. It was a breathtaking moment.

Man today felt a little heavy after the game with Bill Belichick finding Reid, Mahomes and Kelce before going to the locker room. It felt a bit ominous for him—like a farewell. Are they going to fire him?

Personally, I was thinking retirement rather than firing. I have a feeling they'll give him that option, out of respect. His career has lasted longer than any other NFL coach in history. He's already a lock for the Hall of Fame. He has to be at least considering it at this point.

He could end up in our division should he jump to the Chargers job. He would have a fine QB with Justin Herbert and some defensive talent to work with....it seems weird to think about that but he always struck me as someone who would dislike retirement.

I think I heard this was the end of the road for Bill.

I would hope he would "chose" retirement. He should have gotten enough salary over the years with Tommy that he doesn't need to work.

Well, you may be right about that. The rumor about Belichick joining the Chargers has been picking up steam.

Yeah they talked about that on New Heights yesterday. Of course you do not want a crafty veteran like Bill in your division. Travis was in a great mood. I do think he is one smitten kitten. And the conversation about water bottles and squirting was funny. I like how both brothers are accountable for their mistakes but they are way too hard on themselves imho.

Did you see the clip of Wyatt telling Jason he had to have pink hair? I don't know which season Heights it was from and I only saw a 60-90 second clip but it was precious.

I know you don't see all the parenting stuff, but Jason seems like such a cool dad and Uncle Travvy is such a good uncle.

Jason, Travis, and Patrick have turned my never watched or cared for football husband into a real fan. He watches you tube football clips, to the point that it's annoying ?

Yes—Wyatt is so cute and such a pistol. She steals the show every time. Did your hubby catch the NFL Opera from The Tonight Show? Well done! It is about 40 seconds in…

Mahomes is going to have nightmares about Max Crosby. That was pretty bad. They will be fortunate if they make the playoffs. And I find myself not that upset after all they have given us the past five years. Sometimes it just isn’t your year.

I was so scared for Pacheo. And frankly, they can't win without him. He was ejected late in the game against the Packers and that was a factor. He does have a concussion and is probably done for the year seeing as there is only 2 weeks left.

Yes that looked painful. Clyde did fairly well today. I want to know what set Kelce off. I suspect he was angry at his play but he looked ok to me. They all need to take a breath.

I think the Chiefs just can't figure out why it was so easy last year without Tyrek and how they struggle thus year.

I know they have a bunch of new/fairly new receivers, Travis is being covered and they've had a ton of injuries, but somehow Andy hasn't gotten the message to them or he hasn't changed coaching techniques for this year.

I'm not sure they are going to make the playoffs. Certainly not home field advantage

Well, between this stuff with the Chiefs and the Eagles (probably) still battling the Cowboys for winning the NFC East, this week’s New Heights podcast will be ?, won’t it?

It would be nice to have the offense to go with that spiffy defense. I never say never but I haven’t seen Mahomes be so pressed for time since the Super Bowl game against Tampa Bay. Their edge rushers were relentless. Credit to the Raiders. Maybe I am wrong but this does seem to be the year of some great defenses.
As far as a complete team effort the team that impressed me this week is the Cleveland Browns. They look like such a tough out.

Ravens! :cheer2:

I was surprised they did so well...I mean, I was hoping they'd win but I figured it would be close the whole game and come down to the last play. I hope they can keep it up. ?

They looked fantastic. People were talking about Purdy as MVP but I think it should be Lamar or possibly McCaffrey. Lamar took a lot of guff when he was negotiating for his contract but he has definitely proved his worth.

Deebo Samuel should get an MVP at some point in his career. I thought one of the ones Rodgers won could have fairly been Deebo's

Our neighbor who played pro football in the late 80's (Bills then Eagles then Bills) tells me that by this time every single player is hurting and their bodies are just a mass of injures.

I do love my football, but jeez...we had two games televised on Saturday, three or four games televised on Sunday, some on Friday and some on Saturday and 5 games on Sunday.

Concussions all around. Knees and ankles and arm injuries.

Do you remember when they added the 18th game to the regular season a couple of years ago? The players were ticked—-the players Union should have threatened a sick-out on that day. Shameful.

And they did it again against the Dolphins! Top seed!

(I do remember we were in the same spot after the 2019 season and the playoffs didn't end well, but Lamar is much more experienced and this is a different team. ?)

I think it is not only winning but the ease of it for them. I feel almost the same about San Francisco. Both seem to be hitting their peak at the right time.

Not the NFL, but Michigan's marching band played Swan Lake at halftime. So naturally, I though of FSU.

The players union should never have agreed to a 17th game because no one really cares about the players health. Half of the AFC's QB's are out right now so yeah lets add a 18th game. And just to go on a rant for just a few minutes a player will get fined about 10% of his salary for the year for lowering his helmet to protect himself but a douchebag billionaire owner can throw a drink on fans and get fined for chump change? Well at least we know who owns Roger Goodell's balls.

Not just QBs, and not just the AFC. My Vikings have been decimated by injuries this season, on both sides of the ball. That's not the only reason we're all but out of the playoffs at this point, but it's a huge part of it. With all the added games, and the games overseas, one bye week is simply not enough anymore.

The Chiefs have made the play-offs so they will probably rest players this week. I think it is telling that one of our star's on defense, Chris Jones, is 1/2 sack away from a million dollar bonus and said he would rather not play this Sunday even though the bonus will be lost. And Chris is all about getting paid. I do wonder if Kelce will play...he is 16 yards from another 1000 yard season. Or does he call it a season at 984? Either way it is fine but one number has more meaning. Mahomes is definitely not playing.

Jackson, Flowers, OBJ, plus a few others, sitting out for the Ravens today. Makes sense...with home field advantage secured, there's no reason for them to risk injury (esp given today's weather).

ETA: And now we see what happens when the Ravens are without their top starters. I hope everyone is rested and ready to go for the playoffs!
