2021 U.S. Club (non-qualifying) Competitions

You're one month early ;) - Skate Milwaukee/US Junior Team Cup (JGP singles selection?) is scheduled for July 7-11. I will be sure to post more info as soon as it becomes available.

ETA:

Skate Dallas is the main club comp. this week - June 10-13 in Allen, TX: https://www.skatedallas.org/

Here is the announcement of Skate Milwaukee,

The last page has the event table. It does not show the feeling of JGP singles selection, though.

I haven't found any competitor info about Skate Dallas yet (will keep looking).

Some of the bigger club competitions coming up this summer, in addition to Skate Milwaukee (July 7-11), include:

Broadmoor Open in Colorado Springs, CO, Tuesday, June 29 - Friday, July 2 (schedule by day is posted): http://broadmoorskatingclub.com/bo-add-page/

Dallas Cannon Classic (inaugural solo & partnered ice dance comp.) in Allen, Texas, July 9-11: https://www.dallascannonclassic.org/

Skate Detroit in Bloomfield Hills, MI, July 22-24: https://dscclub.com/figure-skating/skate-detroit/

Philadelphia Summer Championships in Aston, PA, July 27-31: https://iceworkssc.org/events/philadelphia-summer-championships-2/
Held in conjunction with the U.S. Collegiate Championships, July 27-29: https://www.usfigureskating.org/event/2021-us-collegiate-championships ($10/day admission this year)

Glacier Falls Summer Classic in Anaheim, CA, July 29-August 1: https://glacierfalls.com/

Chesapeake Open at Gardens Ice House in Laurel, Maryland, Aug. 4-8: https://baltimorefigureskatingclub.com/?page_id=44

Cranberry Open (non-qualifying) & ISU internationals Cranberry Cup/Lake Placid Dance International, hosted by the SC of Boston in Norwood, MA, August 10-15: https://scboston.org/cranberry/

Do you have a schedule for Dallas Open? I may go by and watch

Just be aware that the Safety Plan section of the website states:

This seems to be the standard operating procedure for club competitions so far - spectators/fans are not being allowed in to "just watch" the competition unless you're connected with a competitor. This policy is likely change as the summer progresses, however (the Philadelphia Summer Championships Announcement says there will be an admission fee for spectators, for example).

There are 2 ISP ladies competing - Jessica Lin in the Senior combined event and Tamnhi Huynh in Junior (ETA that Huynh is now listed as WD).
Thank you! I'll be in Dallas on those days and would love to see a competition in Texas!

For Skate Milwaukee (July 7-11), there will be a livestream and the link to the results page should be up in a few days.

We are happy to report that COVID-19 restrictions have been relaxed for all U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned events!
What does this mean for Skate Milwaukee? Two major changes—
✨ There are no masking or distancing requirements
✨ There is no limit on the number of persons allowed into the facility
Our event will still be streamed live (links to come), but feel free to come watch next week's competition in person! In addition to our regular Skate Milwaukee events, we are excited to be hosting the Junior Cup on Friday and Saturday—it's sure to be a weekend of incredible skating at the Pettit Nat'l IceCenter!
See U.S. Figure Skating’s Revised Policy (effective July 1, 2021) for more details on updated COVID-19 precautions:

I'll be in Dallas on those days and would love to see a competition in Texas!
@ErikWilliam here's the ticket info for Dallas Cannon Classic (July 9-11): https://www.dallascannonclassic.org/ticket-information

The USFS policy the Skate Milwaukee LOC is referencing does in fact have a masking requirement for those who are unvaccinated (regardless of facility policy). Not that anyone will be checking, and most likely the unvaccinated won't wear a mask, but that is the official rule. :shuffle:

Link to watch the Aerial (jump) Challenge in just over one hour (7:30 8:00 pm Mountain time/9:30 10:00 pm Eastern time): https://vimeo.com/568266561
Vincent Zhou, Camden Pulkinen, Paige Ryberg, Joseph Klein, Maryn Pierce... not sure who else?
ETA: Kai Kovar, who convincingly won the Broadmoor Open Junior Men's event yesterday, also will compete.
I've heard Tomoki Hiwatashi & Pooja Kalyan have WD.

Practice clip of Zhou's 4S (new entry?): https://twitter.com/AerialChallenge/status/1410731674791387143

Yay, we'll see if Zhou is back to normal. This should be fun to watch! Thanks Sylvia for posting this! T minus 54 minutes....

What was Paige Rydberg's first jump before the half loop (1Eu)+3S?

I missed Paige. I was having a little trouble getting the stream going on my phone.

What are the rules for men's final?
The audio is quite hard to listen.

OK, 3A+as many as you can jump.

Vincent has to be dizzy after all those 3S!
How many did you count after his opening, easy 3A? Maybe five 3S (with two half loops preceding most of them) and two 2S at the end??

I think Camden did 3A+1Eu+3S+2T+2T?

ETA: Awww, the camera panned over to Karen standing by the boards in the corner who's there to support Camden. :)

I also spotted Kori Ade, who coaches McKenzie Edwards.

Ladies Championship Round:

Lilah Gibson (competes at Novice level): 3Lz step out, 3Lz fall (3rd)
Phoebe Stubblefield (competes at Novice level): 3A fall, 3A fall (2nd)
Paige Rydberg: 2T, 4T attempt/step out (1st)

(Too bad Maryn Pierce didn't make the CR because she has tried 3A in competition.)

Men Championship Round:

Camden Pulkinen: 3T (opened up), 4T fall; 4T fall, popped quad toe into double - finishes 3rd; wins highest jump award for his 3A

Kai Kovar: 4T fall, 4T fall (looked pretty good) - finishes 2nd

Vincent Zhou: 4Lz (both arms overhead)+3T, popped quad flip; 4Lz (both arms overhead)+3T, 4F from mohawk - he wins easily! :D

ETA: Everyone came out the end and did some jumps & tricks together ... good to see Joseph Klein's "trademark" cantilever into 3S again.

ETA #2: Nice to see the top 3 men & ladies get some prize money (assume that's what was in the envelopes being handed out?) again this year.

Well, that was fun. Not sure how closely we were to scrutinize the rotations, but Vincent landed 4lutz and 4flip. Did Camden retire? I remember a US guy in the mix decided to retire this season.

The ladies were okay. Not much aerial challengers there this time. Paige has a nice technique, even tried 4toe!

No, Krasnozhon retired.

It's quite interesting that they have two separate competitions for junior level skaters at Skate Milwaukee: Junior Cup and Junior

TSL has said that this event is being used a JGP selection event. It looks like the JGP selection is separate from the regular competition. Based on entries, the Junior Cup events seem like the skaters going for JGP.

@TanithandBenFan, Ice-Dance.com plans to cover the event in Allen, Texas, so hopefully they can/will provide more info if the entries/starting orders are not published online ahead of time. Please thank your sister in advance for any impressions she will share with you/us! :)

ETA:
Is there a schedule posted publicly? I checked the club and livestream sites and didn't see anything.
I didn't see an event schedule linked from the new microsite either (have sent them an email about it): https://skatemilwaukee2021.weebly.com/

Since the livestream is confirmed now, I'll create a separate Skate Milwaukee competition thread by later today.
