Audrey Shin
FS: Moonlight Sonata
Choreo by Drew Meekins

And she says she's "thinking of keeping" The Giving as her SP [added note: Audrey has kept her SP music from last season, choreo. by Drew Meekins].

U.S. Figure Skater Audrey Shin’s 2021-22 Senior Free Skate, filmed in May 2021 at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs. Audrey is coached by Tammy Gambill and Drew Meekins. Her Free Skate was choreographed by Drew Meekins. Filmed in May 2021 by Jordan Cowan at the Broadmoor World Ice Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Below are coach and choreographer Drew Meekins' comments on the creation of this program:
"I had the spoken word piece created, by a vocal actress in Montreal. When I was researching for the program, I discovered that when Beethoven wrote Piano Sonata no. 14, which we fondly refer to as Moonlight Sonata, he was inspired by his love and infatuation for a young lady who had brought renewal to his happiness. He wrote about her in letters that he sent to his best friend. Through my research, I found these letters, and was able to read them. I was fascinated to learn all of this about Moonlight Sonata! As skating fans, we are all familiar with Moonlight Sonata, but I am sure many do not know the full story and inspiration behind it. So I had the spoken word piece created to help tell the story. The spoken word portion of the program is based on Beethoven’s own words and feelings from these letters.
“My life, how desolate, how sad it was - has once again become more pleasant. I am out, with the people - in the moonlight. And to whom do I owe this change? A sweet enchanting girl – my immortal beloved.”
In her free skate, Audrey represents the young lady who Beethoven loved, reading his words about her for the first time. But as Beethoven explains in his letters, he cannot marry her, because she is not of the same family status. And so although she has brought new life and meaning to his existence, he aptly calls her his ‘immortal beloved’. The one he can never be with.

I am so tired of Seven Nation Army and its various covers.

But that is some combination of music from Müller and Dieck.

Müller/Dieck RD costumes are Harley Quinn and Joker iirc from test skates… :shuffle:
So now everyone can make up his own thoughts to that :D

The FD music is an interesting choice, I do wonder though if the mentioned choreographers are the real choreographers given they are with I.AM now.

Scali may be a leftover from the previous updates. But Drobiazko/Vanagas should be correct. They worked with them this May.

I think Dai has improved a lot and Kana looks strong. But I got to say, and I don’t mean this to badmouth Dai, but watching him ice dance makes me really appreciate the skating skills of ice dancers. As great of a skater Dai is, there’s just something about the way ice dancers glide that is really special.

I'm just happy to see him skate and I hope he is able to bring some much needed focus on Ice Dancing in Japan. It would be great to see them be competitive for the Team medals.

ETA: and by them I mean future Japanese teams inspired by them. I am not expecting miracles from this team this year.

I know....just throw out the best program they've ever had . Bizarre
I thought they'd actually add choreo to the free or just remove all the repetitive pressing of hands together. The only challenge with the SP IMHO was the unneccesary dress change. Whatever they change the music to the actual skating will be the same, right?

amazing, great minds think alike I guess - now what we really need is Eteri to hear us!
