With the pairs events officially over, the highest placements for non-automatic countries are:

JGP Lake Placid: Canada (5th)
JGP Chelyabinsk: North Korea (5th), Canada (6th)
JGP Gdansk: Germany (3rd), Georgia (8th)
JGP Croatia: Georgia (6th)

The North Korean pair isn't eligible, who knows if they have another? Hocke/Kunkel obviously aren't eligible either, but I'd guess Germany has somebody.

And the final 3 spots from the JGP should be Germany, Canada and Switzerland (host automatically gets the last spot if they don't qualify it another way). Next in line for pairs should be Georgia and North Korea.

In terms of who actually has age-eligible teams, looking just at the JGP, Russia has several (Panfilova/Rylov, Artemeva/Nazarychev, Mukhametzianova/Mironov and Vislovobova/Bryukhanov), China has Wang/Huang, Ukraine has
Nesterova/Darenskiy, Germany has Roscher/Schuster and Canada has McIntosh/Toste (also Perreault/St-Louis). Canada and Russia also have eligible teams who didn't do the JGP.

None of the US teams on the JGP are eligible (Balasz Nagy and Danylo Siianytsia are too old, and Isabelle Martins is too young). They may have an eligible team at home though. I also don't know of any teams for Israel, France or Switzerland. I expect at least 1 or 2 spots will be given back. Georgia does have an eligible team, Butaeva/Berulava.

There are 10 spots total in the pairs event here, not sure we'll see a full event.

Per the YOG schedule, Womens SP is Jan 11, FS is Jan 13. US Nationals Womens SP is Jan 23. I don't see why she couldn't compete in both, even with the much longer travel time, there is still 10 days between the completion of one event and the start of the other.

Skate Canada has seemingly decided to not announce the team (or else just forgot about it), since they initially said that would happen on November 26.

I think it's sad if Alysa's not going to the Youth Olympics. As I said in my previous post, it would've been great experience - and she'd be an Olympian! She might've made a little Youth Olympic history by landing quads and triple Axels in the same FS! ❤

And the elephant in the room that I didn't want to bring up - there are no guarantees as to making it to the 2022 Olympic Games. Sadly, sometimes life is cruel in sports. Knock wood Alysa WILL make it though!

At Italian Nationals this past week, Tornaghi won Sr. Ladies gold, Memola won silver & Nalbone bronze in Jr. Men, and Tuba/Tuba were 4th in Jr. Dance.

China and Canada both have somebody to send. None of the other countries had an eligible pair on the JGP, but then, the US pair wasn't on the JGP, and with North Korea especially who knows what's going on with them; they could easily have a team in the pipeline that we've never heard a whisper about until they show up.
