Plus, the video work on this was far superior to what we normally see in broadcasts. It really gives an idea of the speed of the skating.
Roman mentioned in the comments section of his video: "... I plan to make a follow up video on how we filmed and edited this, if you have any questions about that or anything regarding the program, ASK AWAY!!! I'll try to answer as much about it as I can in that video!"

BTW, I think Stephen Gogolev can be glimpsed (wearing a dark hoodie) skating past backwards in the foreground during the clip(s) of Brezina's FS program filmed at Great Park Ice in Irvine, CA: https://www.instagram.com/p/CHZzLmwKGx6/

Poll thread: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/2021-canadian-challenge-men-poll.107865/
Is Gogolev healthy as he pulled out of Skate America? Anybody have news? Keegan, Nam and Roman are in and likely Phan and Orzel but Liu and Nadeau are in the mix with many others - depends on Challenge! Liu competed back at the beginning of November in Alberta sectionals and I watched his skate (I am pretty sure I did) but there are no results posted. My quarantine brain isnt sharp enough to remember how he skated then.
Replying to @Cutting the Ice here: At the Alberta-NWT/Nunavut Fall Simulation on Sunday, Oct 11, Eric Liu skated his Senior FS to "Blue Monday" by New Order (around 13-minute mark): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7wrmzp

ETA that Nam Nguyen just mentioned (livestream linked here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...skating-show-ice-dance-elites-benefit.107868/) that he has gone back to last season's SP music ("Blues for Klook" choreo. by Mary Angela Larmer) when he recorded his Challenge programs last week.

Honest question: can absence from a virtual competition be blamed on location in another country? Or was filming only done in those specific locations and nobody was allowed to send video from the US training location?

I would assume that's the reason, since a Skate Canada official couldn't travel to the rink to certify it.

And especially in Keegan's case, if there is a nationals he's clearly earned his ticket anyway.

That first warm up is stacked
Wow! I really like that! I have to leave the house at 11 PST so will get to see all the best Senior Men. Here I almost cancelled my lunch date because I thought the national team members' videos would be shown at the end of the session. Woo Hoo!

Bev Smith article dated Jan. 16, 2021 includes an interview with Roman Sadovsky and summarizes the Men's (and Women's) Challenge short programs: Light in a Dark Place: Seniors

Also:
All in all, it was a stellar men’s event, even though Keegan Messing was missing because Skate Canada was “unable to provide the support needed for Keegan Messing to complete his Challenge video in Anchorage, Alaska.” However, he was the only Canadian skater who competed outside the country, finishing third at Skate America in Las Vegas last October.

Steven Gogolov, a major Canadian hopeful that had an array of big quads at an early age, was injured and unable to get a video together in time for Challenge deadlines. But he’s back training.

Well, if he bombs the free skate on Sunday, at least we know who's to blame.
Joking, he said he would try his best to skate well tomorrow, when Skate Canada will show the men’s free program. (He skated the program in early December.)

Watching Roman's SP, he has such amazing flow across the ice, and picks up speed so easily. It's soothing to watch. And when he's on, his jumps have become so beautiful.
It must be weird for these skaters to see programs they recorded a month ago get scored now.
