No way the US wants to put Harrell and Liu against each other and the Russian/Japanese teams also.Oh no. Hanna Harrell is going to France? Was hoping to see her at Lake Placid.![]()
No way the US wants to put Harrell and Liu against each other and the Russian/Japanese teams also. That would be really not smart. Unlike the senior GP events, the Federations have total control over who goes where in the JGP which is why the rosters change so much over the season. At least Tutberidze gets to see her kid skate live since she'll be there with her skaters.
TBH, I like Harrell better than Liu, myself. I'd rather see her.I forgot about Liu.my skating fandom gets rusty in the off season.
Here’s Kutovoy’s SP from Tamara Moskvina’s master class in Igora last weekendI've really enjoyed Kutovoy's skating at Russian national competitions the past few years so I hope he has a good junior debut.
Thank you! He's grown; he's taller than Moskvina nowHere’s Kutovoy’s SP from Tamara Moskvina’s master class in Igora last weekend

Daria Usacheva SP in early April 2019 (2A, 3F, 3Lz+3T, all level 4 spins): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhkxrfrfGUkKanysheva + Usacheva isn't easy but it's not the hardest draw.
...
Valieva, Kanysheva, Kawabata, Usacheva, Lee, Tarusina, Tarakanova, Sinitsina all have more of a shot and that's without going into the second tier Russians like Vasilieva or Kromykh, and the new Japanese and Koreans that I'm not familiar with.
And Gubanova, please.
That's a nice list, though I've never seen Usacheva or Valieva, & Kawabata didn't get through a clean free skate all last season. Very competitive in the SP, but it was fairly misleading. (Feel like Izzo's record is likewise more competitive in the SP and then the free is not as competitive).
I didn't see Gubanova on the alternate list for Russia which is why I didn't list her
Valieva was the top Russian novice last year and she's very good, particularly in the spins. Her, Kromykh and Usacheva are all in Eteri's group and first year juniors this year. I can't remember much about Kromkykh, but Usacheva gets nice air to her jumps but was inconsistent last year.
You're right about Kawabata - she had a rough LP every single time last year. But she has the skills - gorgeous SS and big jumps, all the triples, 3Lz+3T. It's about putting it together for her and I hope she does.
I hope we can finally meet in Lake Placid?I forgot about Liu.my skating fandom gets rusty in the off season.

Those are the only two junior pairs in the ISP who have competed so far this summer. Only 3 other junior pairs are currently listed in the ISP: Knoop/Eisenach, Fleming/Isbell and Smirnova/Siianytsia (latter 2 teams WD from Skate Detroit). Why is USFS only sending 2 pairs? How many Junior teams are age eligible?
