2017 IAAF World Championships (Real) London

as @allezfred predicted: Muir FOURTH!

What a race!!! Jenny Simpson was so tactical and the pacing favored her strategy, great result for her!

Faith Kipyegon wining the only title she was missing, world champion! Bronze medal for Caster Semenya. Sifan Hassan couldn't deliver

I feel like Faith Kipyegon had been vastly underrated - even after she won in Rio.

Now, we will see how Dibaba and Muir will do in the 5000m and Semenya will do in the 800m. Hassan will also either do the 800m or 5000m.

Anita Wlodarczyk taking another world title proving that even though when she is off she still can win! China silver medal and Poland took another medal with the bronze. Polish women's hammer throw program is amazing with the next in line already medaling and being finalists

Isaac Makwala has been withdrawn (not withdrawn himself) from the 400m final by the IAAF after vomiting despite saying he was 'ready to run'. He was also withdrawn from the 200m heats yesterday due to the illness. It is looking to cause a storm as the IAAF don't seem to have justified exactly why he has been pulled. Michael Johnson is now suggesting that people will be creating a conspiracy theory that Wayde van Niekerk is a IAAF fav and is being given a clear run to the 200m/400m double. His semi for the 400m was changed from a tough one to an easy one so it does make you wonder. The IAAF are not clearing up the situation with some ambiguous statements. Interesting!!

And sooooooo much hand wringing over Team GB under-performing. All this endless stirring of the pot and over-analysing is really spoiling my enjoyment of this event. :blah:

Agreed - my mute button is being used on a regular basis as I don't need to see Laura lose yet again!!! It does make you wonder where all this finding money is going as we have so few medal prospects now Jessica Ennis Hill has gone and Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah will follow shortly. Not a great championships for the home country so far!!

Is Mo retiring completely? I thought he was moving on to try the marathon.

I believe he is moving onto the marathon - but still leaves a big gap in the distance events at the major competitions for GB - excluding the marathon obviously!!

Thanks @Lorac - I don't know how good Mo will be at the marathon but I think he has to end up being at least as good as Galen Rupp.

May I make a (probably) tacky point? Does anyone else hate the shoulder straps on most of the women's Puma country kits? They look like they have bra straps out of place.

Just do it like the Nike/Adidas/Asics country kits. Their designs works for a reason.

Isaac Makwala came to the stadium tonight as he wanted to compete but his accreditation had been voided and he was turned away!!! Apparently the IAAF are following the Public Health England recommendation (not law) that you have to be clear for 48 hours before you can be considered OK to return to work etc. IAAF are following that to the letter - I hope that includes all the others who are sick - athletes and support staff!! Wow - just wow!!!

ETA: And now the Beeb are merrily shit stirring the entire situation.

That's why I don't watch the BBC coverage anymore, enough is enough and the over analysis just got me! so much blah blah while we have the field events

this is ridiculous...

:wall: - Shamier Little. You would think after what almost happened at 2015 Worlds and what DID happen at the 2016 Olympic Trials that she would be more serious about semifinals. Especially when you are in the 1st of 3 semis and only the top 2 + 2 fastest overall times make the final.

This is becoming a farce. The IAAF are attempting to CTA however the Botswana medical expert - who sounds British - is saying that what the IAAF are saying is totally wrong. However this 48 hour quarantine period that was suppose happen wasn't followed as Isaac Makwala gave an interview this morning with a BBC journalist less than 24 hours into the quarantine period  It is a bloody mess to say the least!!

I just checked in but wow. I know that Javier Culson of Puerto Rico competed in the 400 hurdles prelim having been sick (unfortunately failing to advance), of course I've no idea how much worse Makwala's condition was.

Sam Kendricks has a beautiful PV technique. I still think it is a scary event though - as the Belgium guy proved when he slipped off his pole and nearly landed on his head on the metal box where the pole goes :yikes:

I really thought Evan Jager would take the steeplechase - but no Kenya prove strong once again!! Still Jager gets a bronze at least!!

Kipruto continues the Kenyan dominance in the 3000m steeplechase, but good for Evan getting bronze - it's still historic for the US.

Yes Lavillenie!!!

I just noticed the IIAF disabled the live chat on their YouTube stream, I don't think I want to know what prompted that. :scream: (It probably should have been off from the start...)

Well Wayne van Niekerk wins the 400m comfortably - but you will always wonder - what could have been!!! Lets see if he can do the 200m/400m double now!!

Babora Spotakova wins her second world title 10 years after her first in Osaka 2007! Congrats to her

I was very happy for Sam Kendricks taking the gold medal! but at the same time I feel it for Renaud Lavillenie as he still misses that World Title :( today he took another bronze medal

Tori Bowie and Elaine Thompson did not start for the 200m, title seems up for grabs to Dafne Schippers or maybe even Shaunae Miller-Uibo who looked so strong on her heat

Shamier Little, total headcase once again

And Pierre-Ambroise Bosse finally taking a world title, GOLD!!! very tactical and wise strategy for him

Shamier Little, total headcase once again

Especially considering how insanely good the U.S. women are at the hurdle events. I had predicted a U.S. sweep for both the women's 100m and 400m hurdles. There's still a chance in the 400m - Dalilah Muhammed, Kori Carter, and Cassandra Tate are in the finals.

The women's shot put, 400m, and men's 400m hurdles finals are tomorrow. :cheer:
