2017-2018 Program Music and Choreographers

I mean for this Olympic and potentially final season for C/L, do we really want them to go wildly different? I think Life is Beautiful would be a great ending note for their competitive career (unless they go on to 2022). It will be a vehicle that will show off their strengths as performers.

C / L can be accused of everything, except of having bad taste.
The music is beautiful and they does not have to be literal in telling the story of the movie, or at least that part of the movie.

And although I feel sorry that it may be their last season and that means that we did not see them try something different, certainly they are not the only ones repeating themselves.

This one was a cute program with that music too, IMO https://youtu.be/StpRSJwqkW0?t=25

In all seriousness, I agree with that. For a while, it annoyed me that their programs lack range, but now I see them as a good change of pace from all the Montreal and Montreal-esque stuff. Cappellini and Lanotte's FD style isn't my personal preference (at least compared to Gilles/Poirier and older teams like Delobel/Schoenfelder and the Duchesnays), but happy/whimsical is generally not really my thing.

Now, I'm still waiting for someone to announce a Twin Peaks program. Please let it be Vasiljevs to make up for the Buble short. Or maybe Chock/Bates will make yet another change and go for something dark, disturbing, and voidy. . . .

I hope someone does do a Twin Peaks program so I can hear your interpretation of it!

Ashley is working with Sarah Kawahara for some "new project"? Is she changing programs again or is this for a TV ad?

Maybe it's a Michelle Kwan-like tv special. Remember when skaters used to have tv specials on American television?

Please please be campy and kitschy and weird and wild!!

Oh if only Bestemianova and Bukin were competing these days :drama: Too bad there was no Twilight in the 80s

I'll take 20 Twilight programs over Moulin Rouge any day. The scores and the soundtracks from the Twilight movies are actually really good. Much better than the acting!

Twilight actually has a fantastic cast of great actors with solid resumes. It's amazing they were able to assemble a cast like that considering the original source. Not even Lawrence Olivier or Meryl Streep could save that trash writing :shuffle:

I thought a bit about Life is Beautiful for Cappellini & Lanotte.

At first I was not sure. But I think what is special about C&L is that they will be able to tell the story. I don't see them doing a program like Dubreil & Lauzon's version. Anna & Luca are gifted at storytelling. This one has the light-hearted, imaginative relationship that so fits C&L at the beginning and then takes a turn with a very powerful and serious ending--though still that sense of magic within the relationship.

I think C&L could do it justice. It is in their vein, and I think none of us can fault them for planning a program--very likely their last competitive free skate after 13 full seasons & 11 World Championships--for a home audience in Italy.

This!
I will really miss them. When their FD concludes in Milano, it will be a very special moment.

Thinking about it, I agree. It may be repetitive in the sense that we probably can predict what this program will look like, but imo, no one can skate this program like they can. C/L fill a performance void that no one else currently does. This style of program is not only their strength, but its something they do better than every other team out there. They will bring something special to both the Olympics and Worlds with it.
