Am I one of those "ubers at war" now? I don't see how thinking that Tessa was sexy in some of V/M's programs makes me an uber. Or how thinking that she can't do sexy automatically makes one a hater or an uber of another team, for that matter. Does it really have to be one way or the other, and nothing inbetween? That is, if you criticize a skater or team about something or are simply not 100 percent ecstatic about/convinced by everything they do, you must be their hater/an uber of their rivals, or, if you have a positive opinion about them, you must be their uber? Honestly, I have never understood that view. It's so foreign to me. I have been/am a fan of some skaters, but I have never considered myself to be an uber of anybody, as I can like someone or at least parts of what they do, but that does not mean I will like absolutely everything they do or that I can't like and defend their rivals. From what I have understood during my years on these forums, the general opinion about ubers is that they are incapable of things like that.

Also, I don't see how expressing one's opinion, even if it's more than once, can be considered a "war", as long as it's done politely and without offending other posters and skaters.

Most of the people on this forum are skating fans who make interesting comments or observations on skating. IMO, ubers are those who take their devotion to a skater, pair or ice dance team to an almost delusional level and can't accept when their favorite does not win (spinning endless conspiracy theories is usually a tell-tale sign). I remember when we had the Yu Na Kim vs. Mao Asada uber battles a couple of years ago. I liked both skaters, so I would scroll through their fan threads for news. Sometimes the personal attacks became so nasty about these two fine skaters, I just stopped reading them and went to a more neutral thread or site.
 
At least a couple of the Finnish girls have had their program info updated. I've been posting them on Finnish skating news thread, but in case somebody around here is interested...

I saw moments of Buttle in there but if you mute the program I don't know that I could guess what he is interpreting out there. In the battle of solo MR story telling I think Wagner's is much stronger.

What I do like with this program and Ashley's is the music edits are better than one might expect when you hear someone is skating to a MR theme.

Are different styles, he is not so obvious, he is subtle, for someone who is 16 years old, I'm surprised he does not look forced. Ashley looks very theatrical, she is too much literal, even red hair and costume, if I do not take into account her dress and hair, I would not be sure what she is interpreting.

Now that I think about it I also really admired Michelle Kwan for this.. I mean was cool to see programs to stuff I never even had heard of before... Red Violin, Miraculous Mandalin, Dante's Prayer, Song of the Black Swan, The Feeling Begins, East of Eden, Lyra Angelica, Dance of the seven veils, etc

Sure by the end she was doing Bolero and Spartacus but in her prime Kween wasnt out there doing R&J.. and that to me is an artist.

@HeatherC Take me to church was my fav pair SP last season of all the teams. I thought was soooooo cool to use a modern song and a song that had never been skated before. That program for me is so memorable because of the original music choice... just surprised that they chose 2 warhorses for next cycle when the world is their oyster.

And the year before that my favorite performance was Kavaguti & Smirnov skating to the Manfred Symphonies because it was something I had never heard of before...it makes me want to watch it over and over. But just my 2 cents.

I like #babyitalians and the FD music so much and I think it suits them perfectly but I am kinda :blah:

I have no clue, I want Bob and the italians to medal, I guess either P/C or V/M better make some space in Korea :p

Poor Guinard/Fabbri. What are they? Fetuses?

I'm almost certain that V/M won't be at Worlds, so that should open a spot.

Marco is of the older generation. He was at 2006 Junior World's as a single skater. Other people there were Chan, V/M, D/W, Poje, I believe.

I agree about power. But it's Carmen's sexuality that gives her power over Jose. I think V/M's FD was also about that.

It's really not surprising. A lot of skaters are playing it safe in Olympic seasons (including this), and quite a lot of skaters have used music of the country where Olympics or Worlds were taking place, especially if it was/is their home/birth country. But I am not so sure about the home soil gold for C/L. Papadakis/Cizeron have said it numerous times that they intend to continue after the PyeongChang Olympics, so it's not so sure that they won't be at Worlds in Milan. Chock/Bates have also expressed a desire to continue, and both Shibutanis and Hubell/Donohue have actually said nothing about retiring. So it's going to be difficult for Cappellini/Lanotte to win Worlds.

I find it very unlikely unless some huge disaster happens to P/C or V/M, as well as to Shibutanis and/or other teams. Do you honestly wish V/M or P/C and at least one other team to fall from a lift or during a step sequence/twizzles? Okay, I understand that it was partially a joke, but....
 
So glad to hear that finally Cappellini and Lanotte are taking a major creative risk with their FD. Like with Papadakis and Cizeron and Javier Fernandez, I'm hoping the judges finally start rewarding teams who choose vastly different music selections and styles from year to year.
