2015 - 2016 TV Season

I haven't been able to find a launch date for the GG revival. Has anyone here? Now that Netflix has punished us Canadian for attempting to see better content, I am waiting impatiently for them to show GG before cancelling.

I always preferred Rory with Logan as I have a soft spot for Matt Czuchry. I would also love to see just one scene with Jared Padalecki for fun. I always saw more chemistry with him and Lorelai than Rory.

Yes, I'm weird.

As for regular TV, I really enjoyed Dancing with the Stars last night and can't wait for more.

I'll definitely check out The Catch. I love con artist stories, and I like Peter Krause.

Another one for Canadian viewers: the final season of Motive starts tonight on CTV.

I liked Dean the best out of Rory's boyfriends. But it made sense that they broke up--their lives/goals were too different.

Never liked Logan, but again, it made sense that Rory would meet and fall for someone like him at Yale. I always felt like Logan was Rory's "Christopher"--handsome, charming, rich, but a little lacking in substance.

I hope Rory has a new love interest in the sequel, not one of the previous BFs.

I'd rather Rory didn't have a love interest at all -- not in a sad way, just in a professional-woman-focussing-on-her-career kind of way. But if she does have a relationship brewing, yes, I'd prefer someone new.

I'm assuming Lorelei and Luke will be together, so if there's going to be a romantic focus let it be them.

I thought Dean was great in season 1 but I felt the writers seriously dumbed him down in order to sell the Jess thing. His character was really butchered to make that happen and then even after Jess the writers made Dean even worse.

I actually really liked Logan. I guess it depends on what sort of faults one finds forgiveable so I shouldn't give Jess fans such a hard time.

For anyone else who watches Younger - am I the only one who thinks they officially jumped the shark last week? I didn't see that ending coming.

Big news about Nashville:

http://tvline.com/2016/03/23/nashville-season-5-marshall-herskovitz-ed-zwick-new-showrunners/

Rayna James’ so-called country life is heading in a surprising new direction.

TV vets Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick (My So-Called Life, thirtysomething) have inked a deal to take over as Nashville‘s new showrunners in the very likely event ABC renews the bubble drama for Season 5, TVLine has learned exclusively. The duo would replace current showunner Dee Johnson, who is expected to depart at the conclusion of Nashville‘s current fourth season.

I love these two! My So-Called Life, thirtysomething, and Once & Again are three of my all-time favourite series. Cannot wait!

ooo that would be good news. I assumed the show was doomed based on ratings, and it's been disappointing me for the past year or so as well - so hopefully this will turn things around and bring it back to where it was in the first 2+ seasons!

I know I could look this up, but I figured someone here could tell me what a "showrunner" is and why it's big news?

A showrunner is basically a shot-caller. Those who outline (broadly) what's going to happen in the next season, pitch it to the network, outline it in more detail with the writers/staff, say yes or no to scripts/ideas etc. You can more or less take it literal - someone who runs the show :) (and communicates with the network bosses).
And I think it's such a big deal for Nashville because people assumed it would be cancelled due to the ratings but new showrunners hint at a renewal.

More renewals at Fox https://tvline.com/2016/03/24/brooklyn-nine-nine-renewed-last-man-on-earth-fox-renewals/

Funny, I pictured some kid "running" around like an errand boy, getting coffee and delivering scripts and stuff!!!!

And the finale? What did you think?

I thought Liza might make a big change or her secret might be revealed to more people, but I guess they want to keep up the premise for as many seasons as possible. I don't know where they're going with the Charles kiss now that Liza is back at Empirical.

I tried to like Beyond Borders, mostly because I like Sinise so much, but I just couldn't. The whole premise is so incredibly unbelievable, I just don't buy into the existence of an elite team with its own friggin' SHIELD-style airplane flying around the world every time some tourist drops out of contact for a few hours. The whole idea of American cops needing to jump in before the incompetent local police have even had 5 minutes to investigate -- not to mention the rather offensive aspect of needing to save poor innocent Americans from evil foreigners -- just doesn't sit well with me.

And the first episode was very poorly conceived in how they tried to establish this team with chemistry, before we have a chance to get to know any of them or care about them. That almost never works.
