2015 - 2016 TV Season

(and really, one sometimes wonders if the writer of one episode is fully aware of what the writer of another episode did)

I think continuity mistakes are not uncommon. Often only the most obsessed fans will notice and will fanwank some explanation if they care enough.

Oh I so agree about these ridiculous hiatus breaks. If you're only going to order xnumber of episodes, and it is only enough for half a season, then order two shows! Run all the episodes of one in the fall before Christmas, and run the other show afterwards.

Or they could do a recap show after a long break. Grey's used to do it. I remember Revenge doing it. Or rerun the last episode right before the new one. I think Nashville did that after the first year. Just some of the things I watch that popped into my head.

Didn't Once do it a couple of times as well? Or was that a special before the beginning of the season? Either way, they probably should do it anyway especially after that last half season... :shuffle:

I just saw the latest episode of Girls, watching more out of habit than anything now, and I was just introduced to Hiro Mizushima. I hope he's in more episodes.
Glad Shosh decided to stay in Tokyo.

Yes, I'm glad that there's going to be some continuity with that thread because the Jessa and Hannah storylines are not as interesting IMO.

For Elisabeth Moss fans ... A really interesting new interview with her in The Guardian:

She says the second season of Top of the Lake will take her character to an even "darker" place! She also has a couple new films coming out. I hope she continues to do TV along with films, as I think the more long-form roles in TV are really well suited to her.

The 100 and Jane the Virgin both renewed!! :cheer:

The writing for this season of The 100 really hasn't impressed me as much as I had expected, but hopefully the show can fix itself before the season ends, as it really does have a lot of potential.

Yeah, my SO finally talked me into watching the 100 a few weeks ago, and I quite liked the first season. Second season wasn't as good but still well above my expectations with a satisfying arc. This season? I dunno. Maybe it's because I have to wait between episodes but it seems uneven.
A few of the characters that drive me nuts -- especially Octavia, who magically became tree crew in under an episode -- have become even less tolerable. I admire that the show is willing to kill off major characters, but why can't it pick the most annoying ones?

Also on Netflix: season 2 of Happy Valley. I told myself I wouldn't re-subscribe to Netflix until I got my PVR down to less than 40% full, but what with Daredevil and Happy Valley, plus House of Cards, I might have to break that pledge ....

I am beside myself that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has been renewed. The writing is phenomenal and Rachel Bloom is pitch-perfect and has surrounded herself by a cast so unbelievably talented. Even the people in bit-parts are phenomenal. And the songs are so incredible, in every genre imaginable. This renewal has made my year!! :cheer: :biggrinbo :cheer2:

I was so into this show, season two began strong, but as it progressed it dawned on me that it wasn't a futuristic drama or a sci-fi show...but a war drama. This season made that even clearer, so I gave up on it after about four episodes. The whole story is about "us" and "them" and how nobody can be trusted and killing everbody is of course the only option. So disappointed they decided to make that what the show is all about. :wuzrobbed

I still haven't watched Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I was not impressed at all by the trailers last fall -- looked like bad stereotypes that would make me really angry -- so didn't even bother tuning in. But since then I've heard so many good things about it, I plan to catch at some point. My OnDemand has the whole season available til the end of June, so maybe after I've cleared some more stuff off my PVR ...

Dumb. I am tired of this show already.
I'm not happy about it, but I loved the show so much last year that I'm going to give it a couple more episodes before I give up.

I made it through most of the first episode. I only watched because of what people said here. But it was clear that my impression from the trailers was accurate. It is not the show for me.

I'm glad Jane the Virgin got renewed! Yay!

I wonder if they'll keep it at a 22 episode season order again for next season.
So much happens in just one episode (due to show being 42 mins vs 22 mins for the regular comedy)

Hopefully the writers can keep up with such a rapid pace of the storyline.

That's a good analysis, and you may have identified what's been becoming more off-putting to me. Thanks. I'm still going to keep watching for now, but it is disappointing.

I haven't had a chance to see Crazy Ex-Girlfriend yet. Does anyone know if/where it's playing in Canada?

I started watching Quantico last night and couldn't remember who most of the people were so I changed channels.

I just binge-watched "Bosch" season 2 on Amazon. Having read some of Michael Connelly's novels in the Bosch series and being a fan of The Wire, this is very satisfying in a number of ways. Well-plotted but character-driven police procedural with careful handling of conventions. Recommended. Season 2 is even tighter and better paced than season 1.

I missed the last few episodes of the colony and now I have to wait until it appears on Netflix next year to finish watching it.m:(
