#2 KAETLYN OSMOND : CANADA'S SWEETHEART

Kaetlyn had a 1.5 page article about her in today's Toronto Sun newspaper. It basically discussed her bad luck with injuries, desire to get her title back, and coping with losing her title last year.

The article mentioned that six weeks after having the screws and plate removed from her ankle, she fell down some stairs at the rink. At first she was concerned she may have broken her ankle again, but was relieved to discover she was OK. She said it was actually good, since it restored her confidence that her leg would not easily break again after another fall.

GSD event thread for Skate Niagara: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/index.php?threads/2016-skate-niagara.97061/

She had a good free skate at Four Continents (119.49 4th, landing 3Lo cleanly for the first time in comp.) and finished 6th overall: 175.63 11 4. Her tweet afterwards: https://twitter.com/kaetlyn_23/status/701057825863172096
It wasn't perfect, but I couldn't be happier! Its the great way to end a season with a boost of confidence for next year! And I did my loop!!
She currently is #20 (179.41) on the ISU SB list (Nebelhorn Trophy 2015).

Kaetlyn has been added as a cast member for the Stars on Ice shows in Japan in April :): http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...n-virtue-moir-akiko-suzuk.97533/#post-4724917

I'm happy for her 179. That should mean 2 GPs next year, even if host SC pick has to be one of them.

Of course, will be watching to see if those exhibition numbers have 2017 program potential although that's not usually how she rolls. And, with a shorter season she's not rushed for next year, but still...

I am encouraged by her season after such a serious injury. In her interview with PJ she is quite candid about the mess it played with her confidence and mind as well. For me, she is one of the best out there as far as pure watching enjoyment. I hope she has a good off-season and comes back stronger and more confident next year.

I see Kaetlyn just did a clinic and show in Nova Scotia and is heading to Moose Jaw this weekend prior to heading to Goose Bay.

I think Kaetlyn being in these club shows are great. She has so many experiences to pass on to the kids. And they get a great show to go with it. She is such a performer

I think she is great and now that she isn't injured anymore, I am hoping for great things to come from her next season. Perhaps she could go to a technical specialist to fix that tilt on her jumps?

Ravi Walia, her coach, is an ISU level technical specialist.

She's just back on her skates a bit but she manages to hold her jumps e.g. on the lutz.
Her technique is otherwise pretty good so I wouldn't suggesting sending her to someone new to break them down. From what I understand her practices are very consistent.

When she misses in competition I think the issues are more nerves and controlling her pacing etc. She'll work through it.

Hopefully :)

Even when she lands the jumps she is usually on a lean in the air - perhaps she is rushing takeoffs or perhaps this is just the way she does them.

Alaine and Gabby are both becoming very strong and it is not so given that she qualifies for the world/ Olympic team anymore. She really has to work to earn it.

By the way, I really, really hope she keeps the beautiful short program for one more season.

I have heard that she will be doing one program with Vipond and one with Buttle. So I think she will not be keeping either program. Even though we only saw for one year, she has had for 2 years.

I believe Osmond has also spent some time in LA in the past working with Frank Carol. I am sure that if Ravi thinks she needs extra help, he will be sure to get it for her.

I find her jumps so beautiful. Yes, sometimes a bit of a lean, but the height, air position (legs and arms) and her flow and extension on her landings is spectacular. IMO her jumps are among the most gorgeous in the world.

Personally, I find her highly underrated. At 4CC I would have had her far ahead of Gracie on components. Flow, body movement, interpretation, everything is just wonderful (not best in the world but really well done).

I feel her first year on the scene she wasnt underrated at all. I think she got awesome high marks. And deservedly so!

Now, she is a bit shakier and it seems she is getting a bit more conservative scores. Im sure it will change once she displays that consistency again!

I Always LOVE the older more mature and interpretive ladies skater (Carolina, Mao, Alissa) etc. And she is such a gem of a skater. She also seems like is an awesome soul and someone Id love to be besties with (along with Mirai).

Her SP is among one of the best SPs ever up there with Angela's No One Gives Up On Love and Just For You.

That is going to be a stunning program with a few more miles on it. TBH, I was less than thrilled with the music selection initially, but thought I'd reserve judgement until I saw if she could do something amazing with it. And she has. :)

Video of her new exhibition: https://vimeo.com/160252627

I think this is the one Jeff Buttle did for her (someone correct me if i'm wrong!). This is obviously still a bit new, but I think his choreography looks nice on her.

Still bummed we won't get to see her at worlds this year. :(

MAN I just love her!

Shes about to have Angela Nikodinov status with me.

Such a beautiful routine and movement.

Her hair is down and I finally can see what she looks like too. Im LOVING hair down on women.... ala Tarah Kayne in the sp, etc.

We have had well over a decade of the buns and Im loving this look on women. Sometimes I simply do not recognize Gracie in photos when her hair is down. I much prefer the "let your hair down" look these days.

Wish so much we could see her next week.....

So excited to watch the Canadian ladies next season. It's exciting that there are 3 such high quality ladies skaters in Canada right now and then fun thing is that among the 3 there isn't a definitive "top" lady, it could be any one of them on any given day. I really hope that whichever pair goes to Worlds next year can somehow manage to get 3 spots for the Olympics. I know it's a longshot, but I think any and all of Kaetlyn, Alaine, and Gabby can be right up there placement wise if they can skate to their potential.

I really loved Kaetlyn in the ladies group number from JSOI. It reminded me that she's one of the special girls in this era. I'll follow her next season. Hope she'll win a spot for Worlds in the pre Olys season. :cheer: I wish she'll skate at least one sassy program for competition.
