#2 KAETLYN OSMOND : CANADA'S SWEETHEART

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Can you honestly believe we get to say WORLD CHAMPION Kaetlyn Osmond???
I was hoping this would happen but I'm still

Did anybody watch the medal ceremony? I didn't, but then I saw this Jackie Wong tweet and now I feel I really should have! :D
Kaetlyn Osmond just tripped over the carpet and then fell and rolled on the ice wrapped in the Canadian flag. That encompasses the craziness of this ladies free skate
(ETA: Thank you @screech for providing the YT link over at the Canadian ladies thread!)

CHEERS FOR WORLD CHAMP KAETLYN!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

To think that after that meltdown of a long program at 2015 Skate Canada, Jenny Kirk would go on to say on the Skating Lesson recap show: "Can I be honest with you? I don't 'get' Kaetlyn Osmond...".

In the following 2 seasons..

Skate last in the final group: win a World silver in 2017

Skate first in the final group: win a World gold in 2018

I’d love to see the post FS interview. Please post it if you can.
FYI, @Emdee, I noticed that your "KO World Champion" thread got moved by an Admin. to the 2018 World Championships subforum, in case you were wondering/don't have access there.

I haven't seen her kiss & cry interview but here is the medal ceremony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBE4ngJvRG8

Fan cam of the ceremony (longer; shows her posing with Ravi Walia afterwards): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uf9t_5CD1B8

And the ladies' press conference afterwards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJa5r70fQ_M

Thanks, Sylvia...can always rely on you. So emotional for Canada.

KO is world champion, world silver medalist, Olympic bronze medalist...plus...plus...plus!

Well for a while it was tough to understand why she couldn’t pull together all of her potential. She was so incredibly talented. But she needed the time and the journey to get where she is today. For most of us it was a place we always knew she should be. Couldn’t happen to a better person and a more talented athlete.

Trivia question: when is the last time Kaetlyn moved up in the standings from the short to the long program? I'll put the answer in spoilers.

2016 Finlandia Trophy where she was third after the short and won. I thought it might have been as far back as 2012 Skate Canada but there have been two other occasions since then that I have come up with, 2013 and 2016 4CC. It doesn't happen very often though!

So many connections/similarities between Jeff and Kaetlyn, eh...

- both came from small towns/regions in Canada, not known for producing elite figure skaters
- like Kaetlyn, Jeff was a previous Canadian champion who lost the title the year they became World Champion
- both won an individual bronze at the OG
- both were silver medalists at Worlds
- were thought of by some, as not in the running for World gold
- Jeff competed against KO's Coach, Ravi Walia
- won his medal 10 years plus a day, before Kaetlyn
- both handled the pressure of competing at Worlds while others faltered
- he designed/choreographed Kaetlyn's last 2 podium winning FS programs
- both are skater's skaters
- and, are very good friends

Amazing!
