Being right the middle of the audience, the reception for Laurence and Guillaume was pretty massive.

You were there, so I'll take your word for it. I was going off what I could hear on Peacock after C/B's scores went up.

About as good judging as we're going to get in ice dance. I'd probably have swapped the scores of F/G and Z/K but no way were the judges going to do that. I really hope Piper/Paul hang on for that Olympic bronze!

In the end, the tech panel determined the outcome. Rightly or wrongly.

Curious which judges voted together. I haven’t looked at protocols, but I felt FRA, CAN, and LTU team placements were strange. With the top FRA and CAN teams overmarked, the second FRA and CAN teams sacrificed, and LTU overscored massively.

I have to give a cheer for Holly and Jason making it to the FD. Very happy for them. Her mum Karen in the audience was probably more nervous than what she was.

It's a small margin but it also dictates skate order. C/B have a more crowd friendly program which, while not actually part of the judging criteria, has some sort of natural impact on marks. Skating after 2 more introverted programs from P/G and FB/C it could have helped inadvertently boosted some of their GOE's & PCS. FB/C have been scoring higher in the free all season, so having a lead from the RD was going to be really important to them.

I love Lenny Kravitz so I enjoyed C/B's music. I don't really care what era it is. BTW dance is the hardest for me to accurately judge but at the time the French skated all I could focus on was the whirligig breasts & the cheeks hanging out. Plus I thought they were very good but overscored.

I saw Ilia on the NBC feed practicing very briedly today. They showed like 10 seconds of it and Raf and his Dad were at the boards. Not sure if it was shown on Peacock (though I think the Peacock feed with commentary is a simulcast of the NBC feed), so probably.
