Because "fair" in sports is not "I don't like them." It's no more unfair than when Mitchell's mother had a conniption over Tanith's citizen application being fast-tracked.

What obligation does he have to be a "good sport" about the situation at this point? He's 40+ years past his competition era. He didn't say they weren't a very good team - he was actually quite complimentary of Cizeron and Fournier-Beaudry. He wasn't whining about it really - his tone had a sort of a jokey-folksy "c'mon!" about it. There was nothing nefarious or wishing them ill in it at all.
