2025 Skate America Pairs Free - Slay Something (I'm Giving Up On You)

Chan's 2A and 3T both looked short to me, which may explain the lower scores. I know Chan and Howe are loved by some here, but I really don't think they're more deserving than any other pair team (including the much-maligned Shin and Nagy) for Olympic consideration. Whoever places highest at Nationals deserves it, IMO.

Agreed. I hate the idea that she might become another of these pair girls made to feel that she needs to lose weight, because she's "endangering her partner" if she doesn't. There's nothing wrong with either of their bodies, but lack of height difference is a genuine issue, and really can be dangerous in pairs. Sure, we know of those few teams who succeeded despite it, but they'd probably be much safer and better off with other people. :(
I truly hope she doesn’t feel that way. She’s fine! If anything, I see it as a reflection on Luke being short. Kidding. But it’s truly just a height thing.

Not every pair is well matched. That’s why it’s so hard to find a partner! And kids grow at different rates, so it shouldn’t be surprising that kids who were well matched don’t always become adults who are.

I hate that something like that is ever made into a slight against any partner. It’s just a fact of life and no one should feel bad about it.

Since yesterday, NBC is giving the hype and spotlight to Metelkina/Berulava

I expected that to be for the japanese who are 2 time world champions and olympic medal favourite

Good grief has there ever been a skate America where all three pairs teams finished last?
ChanHowe's score isn't bad. It's not GREAT, but it would have been 4th at GPdF, 5th at SCI.

And who knows how AkoRakh will do in their FS - they had a 30-hr trip just to get here to compete and only found out on Monday they were coming. They did well in the SP, but the FS may be a tougher ask since they've also been dealing with injury recently.

Now, the competition gets serious. The thrill of a good pair team is the reason I watch skating. Aka/Rak never got back to their level before the injury and I'm thinking they aren't going to. Pity

Tara just gave the hype...gushing over the top.

After seemingly 700 seasons skating this program, timing shouldn't be an issue. :P
So, they skated this program for one season - in 2022-23 - and have now brought it back. Maybe due to their limited competitive opportunities the past few seasons because of his injury rehab and the fact that they competed a LOT in 22-23 (made the GPF, 4CCs, Worlds) it seems like they've skated this program for 700 seasons, but really it's only been just the one at the start of this Olympic cycle and now this season again.
