[The variety of opinions on FSU never fails 😆]

Pretty clear whose program is a repeat but I think it will be hard to beat if they skate it clean in Milano. I like assisted back flip from DSS, love the music for them, but not much program there.

I wonder if Team Japan will claim the team event at the Olympics!
Possibly, but everything would have to go just right for them and they're going to be really hampered by the lack of points they'll earn in ice dance - even worse off than the US is in pairs, TBH. I don't think Japan can make up that points difference, but it should be close.

Ryuichi is darling.
I like the flip in SD/D. It’s right on the music, and it splits the footwork into handhold vs SBS. Though I think Maxime’s costumer maybe thought he was skating to Gladiator?

Just watched and honestly I think the Hungarians should be in second, they were incredible. Deanna and Max were good too but the sbs 3ts were WAY off technically. And Deanna does 100% of the presentation for that pair, whereas the Hungarians were much more equal in reaching me. 🤷‍♂️

Miura/Kihara were in a class of their own with speed, tech and artistry. No problem with lead here.

Kovalevs have never looked better, but they were still the least interesting French (or "French") team here. :shuffle:

After Shanghai disappointment, Shin/Nagy were better than I expected, but their synchronization is lacking a bit.

Katie and Daniil did a really fine job. Assuming they stick it out and stay healthy, maybe they'll be serious contenders on the GP next Oly cycle.

What a great program for Stellato & Dudek! Pairs--with its huge elements--has always seemed like the ultimate discipline for Carmina Burana to me. And she can pull it off. It suits their dynamic, and very few athletes can skate to that music without being overwhelmed by it. I loved that:love:.

Also three clean SPs at the top in the opening pairs GP. Wow!

Caught up on the pairs, what a fabulous top three. I really enjoyed Max and Deanna the intensity, the costumes and the whole vibe of the program, I believe this a great program for the Olympic season and I enjoyed the upside down flip and still room for improvement overall. Lovely program from Miura and Kihara and they look very focused and it was smooth. Hope she can clean up her triple jump.

The flip is my favourite move in all of skating this season. If it works like today, it will be such a hit a more general audience Olympic crowd.

The setup to it was quite long and awkward in that first practice clip they showed of it, and it still has a little too much prep, but they're clearly reducing it. Once they can do it in a split second, it'll be 🔥

I know -I know it is not about looks but I really thought those pair girls looked gorgeous and buff and could Deanna please write out her beauty regime.

Just got back late last night from visiting with family in Toronto. With attending a Raptors game on Friday, a Leafs game on Sat. and Game 7 of the Blue Jays series on Monday (that one via TV), there was NO time for figure skating. So, here I am trying to catch up on just a bit of the Grand Prix from France. In the pairs, I really enjoyed the top 3 pairs in the SP. I was actually surprised at how smooth the Hungarians were. I like Deanna and Maxime's program and the costumes and agree with those of you who said the music matches Deanna's intensity (or the other way around). Riku and Ryuichi were, imo, a big step above the rest in the SP. I also am happy they kept their SP from last year. Now, if Riku would just find a consistency with her 3 jumps. We don't want the "q" on the scoreboard.
