In Memoriam

The man shot and killed walking in the No Kings march in Utah: Husband, father, designer, Project Runway contestant and devoted to the Samoan community in the states: RIP

I hope that this was not true with respect to Ann Burrell's demise, but it could very well be the case:

It happens all too often. Heath Ledger, Prince, Philip Seymour Hoffman... those are just a few accidental overdoses that I can think of off the top of my head. Very sad if true.

My roommate & I were walking down Hollywood Blvd., in Hollywood one night in 1969 & Bobby Sherman came walking up the street, very rapidly, towards us. He was at the height of his t.v., fame at the time. He was wearing a buckskin outfit, complete with fringe. He walked past us to a chick who apparently had been waiting for him & they had a big, verbal fight with each other right there on the street.
I remember how shocked my roommate & at were at how short he was.
RIP, Bobby.

He was very short. So was Davy Jones from The Monkees. David Cassidy from The Partridge Family was no giant either.

Someone theorised that pre-adolescent girls went wild for the little cute androgynous guys because they weren’t sexual enough to be frightening.

I remember Bobby Sherman from "Here Come the Brides" Though I wouldn't say his songs were terrible, they were okay for the times, he had a good voice and was handsome. RIP
I love your avatar--such good memories of my the Spirograph I received for Christmas as a child. I don't remember any of Sherman's songs except one about "Julie" because it played at the skating rink all of the time. I do remember "Here Comes the Brides." RIP

Based on the statement that she was surrounded by 100 pills, it sounded to me like it was not accidental but rather intentional.

Intentional or not, my heart goes out to her loved ones. One of my sisters tried to kill herself about 20 years ago, using a similar method (medication). She wasn't successful, but it was a near thing. She died of natural causes (heart failure) in 2021. I will always believe that her ex-husband destroyed her self esteem to the point where she never took proper care of herself after they divorced. She was never the same.

I know what you mean, they are all out of Lisa Simpson's Non Threatening Boys magazine

That's a classic. Justin Bieber was probably in that magazine when he started out too.

Mark Lindsay from Paul Revere and the Raiders was also a big crush at my elementary school (yes I'm old) except that he had GASP a ponytail, which made him suspicious to a lot of parents. I'm not joking.

Mick was always too savage and sexual for the youngest crowd. Paul though, with that choirboy face, he was the archetype. He was my second crush after Mighty Mouse, which tells you how young I was.

My very, very earliest crush was David Cassidy, but his half-brother Shaun eclipsed him in my heart. First time I ever bought a life-size poster, lol. He's still pretty damn good looking. ;)

It's sad how many of these teen idols from the 60s-70s are gone now. Makes me feel old, for sure.

Davey Jones was big when I was a kid. I thought he seemed nice but I liked Peter Tork on the Monkee better. Then Bobby Sherman became the It Boy among my friends (and the rest of the country, ofc) but I never got it. I moved on to Simon and Garfunkel who weren't teen idols and never looked back.

It was almost equally divided with the Monkees. If you were a Beatles fan, Monkees too.
But Mick was the bad boy, pure sex, parents took down posters because he was sex and drugs influence
