2022 Olympic FS Team Event delayed medal ceremony - updates

What a joke of a decision. That's some rank BS there. I cannot believe CAS made this decision.

Canada should have made damn sure an amendment was submitted to the ISU rules at the last Congress to explicitly state that a DQ in the TE meant a loss of points and the other teams moved up in the points standings.

Not in France. No visas. Unless somehow there’s a deal for that too. Maybe the West threw it in to get their hostages back.
Oh, we still have hostages stuck in Russia. Not that I expect Putin to release any of them for visas for a medal they don't want.

Well, it seems someone will be very happy. I bet CAS decided to keep their hands off and say the ISU had discretion to interpret how to apply the rules given the confusion regarding whether there was a new rule superseding the former rule that could be read to support the way the ISU decided to reallocate the team competition points. It may be one of those things where the CAS will say even if they had disagreed with the decision, procedurally, the ISU had authority to make the initial ruling that they did.

It's a misunderstanding that Russians can't get visas - they can and still do, but Schengen visas are no longer issued within Russia so you have to leave Russia to get one. You just go to a country like Serbia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, or others that don't require a visa of Russian nationals to enter, and - voilà.

A bigger statement would be if ALL athletes refuse competing if Russia will be there. But that will never happen, and I understand why.

Has the IOC issued a statement inviting the Russian athletes to come to Paris also?

They should just send Russian their bronze medals surface mail.

Leave Paris to the US and Japanese teams who actually won their medals legitimately and deserve a special moment.

Anything else is an even bigger slap in the face to clean athletes who were robbed of two points and 3rd place..

I suck at math it sticks makes no sense. How hard is it to add one point to everyone's score (two for those who competed in the final)
Particularly when they managed to figure out the math for the ladies individual results.

The ISU are not serious people and lack integrity. I don't have a history of this type of comment but they really blew it here.

And they might be allowed back for 2026 in Milano. Ugh.
I suppose the silver lining is Russia learned something from this scandal.
So in 2026 when they want that gold back so they can just put two Eteri girls in as backup in case they miscalculate the formula again ;)

Trying to figure out how we can apply this precedent to relay swimming teams for countries that could use an extra stronger swimmer. Cos then we could subtract the doped athlete from their overall time in the final and maybe move up to gold with a WR setting time!!!

This is my suspicion as well. As usual I'll put most of the blame on the ISU because they are a terrible org.

They're so ungrateful. They get so much favouritism and it's never enough. They're always the victim.

And Roman being on the podium would be bad? Yes, better a country repeatedly breaks the rules gets to have it's cake and eat it, too, than a country where one athlete who was a deer in headlights, but who competed clean, gets its due.

The only part of the ISU’s reasoning that is logical is they don’t want ordinal flipping such that when you remove one athlete’s results and reallocate points, then a previous non-doping medalist team gets knocked off the podium. But the obvious fix to that is to DQ the entire doping team from the final results.

This result shows you can dope, get caught, and still medal. What a mockery of clean sport.
