I did a little digging and it seems that there are 5 more spots that should be allocated by the end of this month. They go by the 2024 Worlds which were in February, and they basically go down the list of divers which haven't already qualified. The 5 next in line (spots 14 to 18 at Worlds) appear to be
North Korea, 2 Italy spots, Austria, and South Korea. Joshua Hedberg finished 19th, so if any of those above spots don't get used, Brandon Loschiavo would then go (since he finished higher than Hedberg at the Trials). What is all kind of ridiculous is that Loschiavo finished 8th at that same Worlds, so it would seem he should already qualify.... but that is only how they earned their first spot since their results at 2023 Worlds were so poor so they got none of the 12 spots allocated there. So to get the 2nd spot, they need to get all the way down to Hedberg's result. I agree that would have been way too much to explain on tv/peacock, but
they could have just said US 2nd spot (Loschiavo) is 1st alternate if one of the other countries doesn't use their likely to be allocated spots. And I really have no idea if Italy gets both those spots or can only earn 1 of those 2.
