2023 - 2024 March to the Super Bowl - Rodgers, Allen, Purdy, Burrows, Hurts, Mahomes et all

Sssooo—Travis had an interesting weekend. I’m sure the podcast will have record numbers Wednesday. And the Eagles visit the Chiefs on Sunday…Yikes!! Our offense needs to improve pronto.

Stroud and the Texans remind me a little of Mahomes and the Chiefs in 2019. The defenses didn’t know how to stop him yet and he scorched the league with 50 td’s and over 5000 yards. Stroud is a stud on the same trajectory this year. The AFC has so many awesome quarterbacks.

The game is Monday. Which I'm going to have to miss the first half because I've committed to board member of HOA and that's the first meeting of the new year.

Chris Collingsworth said last night that we've seen more quarterbacks this season than usual because of injures to the start of the season QBs.

And 3 or 4 games decided in the last minutes by field goals? Was that not crazy?

I hate waiting until Monday. It looks like Denver’s coach has started to right the ship. Buffalo’s offense looked in total disarray last night. It was like watching the Chiefs against Denver. No offense to the Broncos but both the Chiefs and the Bills gave those games away because of silly mistakes. The Bills seem to be wasting Josh Allen’s prime years.
I think the Bengals just hit a sizzling Texas team. It is fun to be the underdog. And San Francisco looks scary again.

It was just crazy to have 5 or 6 games won by field goals in last minute/seconds of games.

I wonder what Denver thinks of Wilson and Peyton now. We were in Denver mid September and sportscaster were calling to fire both at that time.

I suspect they've flipped their opinions now.

Nebraska fans are certainly wanting Chubba to learn from Brock to come in as # 3 QB and take NE to a bowl game.

Apparently Fields returned to practice field today. Rodgers is reported to being on treadmill, and is hoping to weight press to ? Level while stretching to tip toes. I can't even hold a wallet and stretch up to tip toe walk. And I didn't tear an Achilles tendon.

I think a fair question for Rodgers is if there is any point to rushing back if the Jets are out of the hunt for the playoffs. Why risk further harm? Also his “attacks” against Kelce on the McAfee show because of the vaccination ads: I still think that has something to do with TK’s girlfriend. I don’t care for him though so maybe that is me. But he did go to her concert two nights—maybe he was interested too???…

I think Rodgers got broken by Covid, the lies he found himself embroiled in, the mega contract he signed (and left) with Pers and his venture into Hollywood (gf and Jeopardy and other acting opportunities)

Right now, I think he's trying to stay as a headline and clearly the media is gaga over theTraylor romance, pushing him on page 10. So if he comes back and the rest of tge Jets year turns out great he would be relevant.

At first the Kelce/Swift thing was fun and I know my Google News page gets triggered by my interests, but it's really time to stop the second by second romance reportings. It might be by Christmas they are engaged and will have a May wedding but Jeezy Wheezy let it go until it happens. I halfway expect a story that Travis pooped at Taylor's apartment, so it proves they are seriously considering marriage.

Great points about Aaron though he was still pushing to debate Kelce about vaccines. Aaron: Nobody cares. Either get the jab or don’t…

I am all in on the Swift/Kelce romance but from a Chiefs point of view. This triangle—the Chiefs, Taylor’s world and even Jason Kelce and the podcast’s influence is something I don’t think I’ve seen before and I find it fascinating. But yes, the world needs to slow down and let them figure things out. I have followed the podcast from it’s inception and love it and have great affection for the entire Kelce clan. Jason’s wife Kylie is awesome. And of course their daughters are adorable. Good stuff. But to your point I am positive the Swifties will be tuned in tomorrow morning to see if Jason asks Travis about his travels.

I knew of the Heights podcast because our friends' son works for the Chiefs organization. The brothers are hysterical and Mama Kelce is so cute.

Taylor certainly has brought in more fans of Swifties, and the Kelce Brothers are very kind to those who tune in because of Taylor connection by explaining the game.

Aaron just turned into Farve type jerk.

Bengals and Ravens tonight—the AFC North is a murderers row of tough teams. I have no idea who to pick.

Oh, but the game is young...

Did you see our game Sunday? I'm not assuming anything until the final whistle blows.

Sorry about Burrow. I'm very worried about Andrews and Jackson.

No, the game is over for me. I'm not staying awake for this one. It is not gonna be our year if Burrow is out for any length of time and we keep losing other important guys too. I HATE Thursday night games with a passion. Too many injuries for so many teams (not just mine). :fragile: :wuzrobbed

Good luck to everyone else's teams. Glad I became a Reds season ticket holder for next season because I need something to look forward to in 2024.

That stinks for Burrow but also for anyone who loves good football. Bless the back-ups but we want to see the starters.

Burrow's injury looked really bad. I couldn't watch after they keep showing his hand over and over and over.

I bailed on the game after halftime too- ugh. :wuzrobbed: I feel like someone always gets injured during Ravens games! Was already an uphill battle to make the playoffs this year with the remaining schedule but now I just hope Burrow is ok long-term. That looked bad, whatever it is.

FYI, on the injury front, Burrow is out for the year with a torn ligament in his wrist. He will have surgery to repair it and plans to still be around the team through the rest of the season. They announced it during the usual press conferences earlier today here in Cincy. Sounds like it's an injury that he will heal just fine from but it still sucks SO BADLY and put a damper on my entire day (which is saying something since it poured rain while I was at work today so I was already in a foul mood). :wuzrobbed

See you all in the baseball thread for spring training.....I still love my guys and will be cheering for them all the way but I'm pretty sure our season is not gonna end in the playoffs anymore so I won't have much to say here for the rest of the season. :( (And I'll refrain from ranting about the BLATANT bad calls that were made in the game last night and just say that I really hope officiating gets way better because there are a lot of good teams getting screwed over by bad calls way too much this year.)

Bad calls have been every year. I wonder how long actual human refs will be used and we have some sort of AI calling games

Injuries are part of the game but injuries to quarterbacks are soul crushing. The Bengals are not the same team without Burrow though you never know when a backup will get a hot hand.

Waiting on Philly/KC and the Kelce Bowl Monday night. Rough weekend for the lovebirds though they seem happy with one another. Kylie Kelce might be traveling to KC. Love her!

The Ravens may make the playoffs but we lost Andrews (veteran star TE) for the season. Officially a high ankle sprain with ligament damage. It sounds like he won't need surgery, will heal in a couple months, but this is a big loss. Kind of like the Orioles losing our closer in Sept. :(

And the rest of our games are mostly against winning teams, so the sched isn't getting any easier.

I'm hoping Travis is doing his work and not letting Taylor and frenzy around them distract him. He's still.got a job to do.

He is a known partner- I mean when he is introduced they play "you have a right to party" but dang the offense needs him and Patrick to do their job!

Well she is dealing with the death of a fan at her concert in Brazil and he is apologizing for tweets made 14 yrs ago. The ugly side of fame….Hopefully Arrowhead is a nice cocoon for him. Patrick seems fine.

I realize that, but the media is also doing the romance thing a lot. He's not getting plays as much as before Taylor. That could be due to increased defense on him, but he was a known threat/playmaker before Taylor so it's not like the opposing team didn't know who he was.

Yeah, Patrick's fine. But a couple of comments lately seemed like he was a bit frustrated with Travis. Maybe I'm reading too much in it.

I think it is because the trouble the other receivers are having… Kelce is drawing a crowd because he has been effective. I have the opposite take on Patrick: He is happy to share the spotlight. I don’t know if it is true but supposedly Travis was with the Mahomes family last night while things were unraveling in Brazil. I hope the other receivers step up Monday.

I think Patrick is happy. He wants to share the spotlight. I think he likes to have fun but during football season focuses on football.

i heard a reporter ask him about the media circle around Travis - and responded something to the effect that Travis will be back to work on Monday.

I'm ready to watch some football today. And having the most most nasty friend fans back in Facebook time out.

What are people saying to you on Facebook? My other fave place to post is a Kansas Uni message board. There is a guy there who is a super troll to Chiefs fans as he loves the Raiders. He gets folks riled up. Another poster ran into him at a Chiefs charity event. It turns out that he has been a Chiefs fan for decades. He likes to troll to see who bites on his bs. I don’t usually care for trolls but his stuff is funny.

Oh I live on the NE-IA border, it's really ugly for any sport. I have siblings who went to different IA schools and any games they play against each other are vicious name calling, except when they play NE, then they are united against NE. I've left family functions if it gets really, really bad.

I have friends who actually put vile signs in their yards about Chiefs, or Vikings, or Green Bay, or Bears, or Broncos, Raiders. You know - things like the only good fan of xx team is a dead one - stuff like that.

I have a high school friend who lives in New Orleans and every team except her Saints. Iowa State University, LSU, and Tulane are sh×t, I have a friend who is related to Noah Fant and when the Broncos traded him to SeaHawks she has been down right vindictive in her hatred of the Broncos, another one who calls the Dallas Cowboys the Cowgirls.

These are people who for the most part are otherwise pleasant, nice people. But sports, particularly football, turn them hateful vindictive people. So during.football season, I put them in time out.

I usually do one FB post at the beginning of the season saying we all have a favorite team but in the end it's a game. That even players know that they could be teammates with anyone at anytime. I know it's futile but I do warn them time outs will occur. It's a game, it's entertainment, it's sport.

The things in the games that I can't tolerate are cheating or bad sportsmanship. Bad calls will happen, after all refs are people too.

In the players on or off field - behavior that wouldn't be acceptable for anyone.

We have a neighbor who spent 9 or 10 years in the NFL, most of those years with the Bills but a couple of seasons with the Eagles. Last year when they played a play off game, I asked if he had a loyalty to the Bill's or Eagles. He said by that time in the season, every single player's body is so beat up/hurting he.just looks for good play and no injuries.

DH's roommate in college son played for the Eagles. During his career, they were partial to their son's team of course, but knew that players could and will be traded.

I didn’t think about the confluence of people with such varied loyalties. But I suspect that must happen a lot in areas outside of the actual team city. The only thing I could compare this to was when Kansas University and the University of Missouri were in the same conference. It was anything but a friendly rivalry and this stuff goes back to the Civil War, the mass murder in and sacking of Lawrence and John Brown’s retaliation. I was relieved when Mizzou moved to the SEC. Sport rivalries shouldn’t be about political history.
