I used to enjoy them but the more we learn about the ugliness and toxic nature of Russian skating, the harder it is to watch them.
Not to mention the terrible programs they are forced to perform.

Are you just totally ignorant? RUSSIAN girl/ women skaters won BOTH the 2018 and 2022 Olympics, and the RUSSIAN women's gymnastics team won the 2021 Olympics. STOP with the lunacy already. Thank you!
Russia gets no credit for those. None. Zip.Are you just totally ignorant? RUSSIAN girl/ women skaters won BOTH the 2018 and 2022 Olympics, and the RUSSIAN women's gymnastics team won the 2021 Olympics. STOP with the lunacy already. Thank you!

"They have no other way to earn a living. It's not like in the West, where skaters can choose to perform wonderful programs or to go to med school."Not to mention the terrible programs they are forced to perform.
I bet they were inspired by that performance Valieva gave at the 2022 Olympics…when she pulled that hoodie over her head as she walked past the media zone, which she later re-enacted for the sympathetic audiences at the Russian Test Skates a few months later. It was all “amusing”.![]()

There's a stage play lol
That’s not Russia. What in the blue hell are you talking about? They competed under the banner of the Russian Olympic Committee. Key word being "RUSSIAN".
Look at ioc records. None of those count for RussiaOlympic Athletes from Russia and Russian Olympic Committee.
Both sound pretty Russian to me.
She didn't inspire them to look at her protocols though, she never did a 4Lo.I bet they were inspired by that performance Valieva gave at the 2022 Olympics…when she pulled that hoodie over her head as she walked past the media zone, which she later re-enacted for the sympathetic audiences at the Russian Test Skates a few months later. How about this:Look at ioc records. None of those count for Russia
Because if you hate all Russians you never want to see them and no punishment is enough except total exclusion foreverHow about this:
Nobody cares.

Like the judges used to take with her scores, I guess. Postmodern art!Creative license.![]()
Even if that was true, they’ll be okay competing for domestic platinum medals. Next year will be the 14th anniversary of the first time one was awarded to a Russian skater.Because if you hate all Russians you never want to see them and no punishment is enough except total exclusion forever
I'm not sure that was true when the team event was created. For you young'uns, the Team Event exists because Russia wanted it for the Sochi Games since they were heavy favorites to win it.
If it was the plot of a novel the editor would tell the author that it was a touch on the nose and they should adjust their timeline just a smidge to make the dramatic irony a bit less heavy-handed.I know someone here on FSU will be able to give the English major or English teacher's response as to whether or not this is actually irony or just Alanis Morrissette Irony.
I don't want to be anti-Russian - I don't think that's productive. I want to be anti- the current Russian regime, and anti-doping no matter the nationality, and unfortunately those two things converge in Russia at this moment. If being anti-Russian is wrong, I don't want to be right.
Being "anti-[insert nation]" is not something one should be proud of as history has shown us time and again. If being anti-Russian is wrong, I don't want to be right.
Nah. Being anti-Germany 80 years ago was a moral response. Being anti-American during the Vietnam war, anti-Soviet Union in 1956 and 1968 (especially) likewise.Being "anti-[insert nation]" is not something one should be proud of as history has shown us time and again.
Replace "Russian" with any other nationality and it would suddenly look quite racist.
All Russians?Being anti-Russian now is the correct moral response to their values and behavior.
But not anti-German?Being anti-Germany 80 years ago was a moral response.
Yes, as the whole world was at the time, as we all know, and during all the plethora of other things the US has done which can cause this sentiment to be justifiable.Being anti-American during the Vietnam war,
Does the American view of race juxtapose well to East Europe? And since being Russian has nothing to do with race, and most anti-Russian countries are majority white, there’s no racism involved here at all.
Really? That type of moral response led to Japanese Americans having their property taken and put into concentration camps and German Americans being harrassed and murdered during WWII. A prosperous farming community in Arkansas founded by German and Czech families was essentially destroyed due to that anti-German moral response. A response that was covered up and then pretended didn't happen while farms were gobbled up by those with a correct moral response. There are well documented examples throughout history that indicate this type of response is a slippery slope.Nah. Being anti-Germany 80 years ago was a moral response. Being anti-American during the Vietnam war, anti-Soviet Union in 1956 and 1968 (especially) likewise.
Being anti-Russian now is the correct moral response to their values and behavior. .
It was part of how that event came to be but not the whole reason.I'm not sure that was true when the team event was created.
