I went to the show in Winnipeg tonight with my DIL and granddaughter. It was really a great show and we all loved it, such a great mix of beautiful, elegant skating and fun, crazy numbers. Only negative - I bought the tickets - on ice south end and they were very expensive and total crap. We saw none of the pictures on the video monitors and most of the skaters barely came down to our end. Live and learn and my first time in Winnipeg but charging what they did for those seats was highway robbery.

Oh wow, what a shame you weren’t made aware at the time of purchase your seats were technically obstructed view. :( The configuration is the same as past years, so it’s not like it wouldn’t have been known. Did you receive the post-show survey from All Access? Might be helpful if this is brought to True North’s attention. For future reference, most of the seats in the lower bowl along the east and west sides have excellent sightlines. We usually sit in the first row behind the on ice seats, and it’s almost as good as being on the floor, although the leg room is pretty limited.

But ITA, it was a fantastic show, probably one of the best in the last several years. We had $$$ on ice seats for the first (and sadly likely the last 😭) time, just off center ice, and they were worth every penny. Highlights for me were Kurt’s glorious “Nyah”, and Elladj’s second performance to “There Will Be Time”. I was thrilled to finally see my Jeffy on the ice again 😍, and also to get a little of Paul skating solo. :inavoid:

ETA: Had to share this tweet from KMT:
We've had a pretty tough go of things weather-wise for the last number of months, so we were ready to party hard! :D

Feature article on Elladj by Laurie Nealin (May 9) before last night's show in Winnipeg:

IFS article on Jeff Buttle (May 7):

ETA that Buttle also is quoted in this Edmonton Journal article (May 12) ahead of Sunday's show:

Very excited here. Going to SOI on Sunday (which is my birthday) with my sister and two grandchildren (ages 9 and 11). I rented a limo! Very fun.
My older grandson ((he is 11) kept giving me excuses about why it would not work for him to go. (You know, the moon is in the seventh house.....might have homework, another soccer tournament......anything but the kitchen sink. Along the way, I mentioned that SOI was on my birthday. Kid went to his mom and said "It is on Grams birthday. I guess i have to go".

Went to dinner with the fam last week. I was talking to his dad about who was going to be there (he / they thought it was a bunch of nobodies skating around )......dad went....you are kidding? Entire change of view.

Totally excited.

@AxelAnnie you're in the wrong SOI thread. ;)

ETA:

Satoko looks to be having a blast on the CSOI tour :) - her photos/clips:

On the lake in Kelowna: https://www.instagram.com/p/CdrqsNAgMnr/
Calgary to Edmonton: https://www.instagram.com/p/CdoCTJhpqIx/
Winnipeg: https://www.instagram.com/p/CdhImz5JUrW/
Toronto:

I'm glad to see Satoko's enjoying the tour (and looking forward to seeing them all in Vancouver tomorrow), but I have enough trouble getting into Okanagan Lake in the summer - - and it's been a cold spring. Not surprised they were getting out in a hurry.

Piper said in the comments of her post of the video that they all jumped in twice and apparently it's been colder in the Okanagan than normal this year.

Calling everyone in Kelowna at the @starsonice show!!! Does anyone have a video of the finale? I think it might be the coolest thing I’ve ever been a part of. Thank you for performing that with us 🤍🤍🤍
One video she received has been posted on the SOI account: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CdwD5pdD-6b/
What to do when the music stops? You keep on singing! And skating! Our amazing crowd @prosperaplace kept us going last night! You were an wonderful chorus, and gave us an amazing experience none of us will soon forget. “🎼We’re still skating…yeah, yeah, yeah!” ⛸ Thanks to fans Ryanne Jones and Shawna Myers for the great video (and singing)!
Another fan cam (last part of the "I'm Still Standing" final song of the Elton John medley): https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cdva2dBgvOB/

Kelowna!
We made music!
Even the music stopped the whole venue was full with enthusiasm. It was such a heartfelt surprise. I felt the greatness of the audience!
Thank you very much for the great night!

I was always a fan of Kaitlyn and Andrew but I have to say I thought they were amazing. I am not sure how they pulled it off, what with now living in different countries and all, but they didn't miss a beat and reminded me of what a loss it is that they retired. I am not sure what Piper and Paul have said but I really hope they compete another year or two at least. This whole group is especially dear to me.

Well, it's almost a week after the Calgary show and two after the Toronto and Hamilton shows, but I finally finished my long review of those three Canadian Stars on Ice shows: http://kurtfiles.com/soi/soireviews/csoi22review.php

Photos are still to come (editing being much delayed by writing that behemoth).

tl;dr - I loved the show, thought the group numbers were great, the solos really diverse in music and style, the skaters fully committed to the performance and loving being out there, and the lighting was way too dim in many of the numbers.

I only saw Nyah on one of the posted videos. In the original, back when Browning was a young buck, upper and lower body were more balanced, like a trained dancer's would be, but what he does now is what the great Flamenco dancers do as they age, with great upper body strength in their arm, neck, and head movement, and that is much more commanding. It was :inavoid: and :respec:.

So grateful to this family for a magical month! And to @starsonice and the crew for making this tour happen ❤️🇨🇦 To be back here healthy and performing again—after three hip surgeries and numerous setbacks—means the world to me, more than I can ever express. And these people made it even more special. Thank you ♥️ And a shoutout to @isophit_inventor for being a big part of why I’m able to skate and perform again 💪🏼

Well this is absolutely absurdly late, but here are my (almost 800) photos from the Hamilton show:
Hamilton Stars on Ice Album

Facebook Highlights Album (76 photos)

I got a lot better photos from the Hamilton show than the Toronto show.

Also, if anyone is interested, I finally started a skating photography Instagram and have been gradually adding content:

Hopefully people are still interested in seeing photos from the show, 2.5 months later...
