Jason shared this powerful message today: https://www.instagram.com/p/CP_stVqHtzb/

I’ve grown up surrounded by beautiful, creative, strong, proud, successful, and supportive LGBTQ+ role models. Whether it be family members, coaches, skaters, teachers, friends, or others I’ve had the privilege of crossing paths with, my perception of what it’s like to be LGBTQ+ was far from one dimensional.

I’ve always found it impossible and, truthfully, dangerous to paint or stereotype any one group with a singular brushstroke. The diversity of people I’ve met along my journey has shown me that everyone is so individually themselves. No experience or personality is the same, simply people finding their identity, their voice, and owning their truths in their own unique ways.

I’ve always been shown the beauty in embracing love in every form. I never questioned my own sexuality or even thought much about it because it didn’t matter. I am who I am, and have always been fortunate to be surrounded by people who made me feel like that was enough.

I realize that so many confront a different reality. History hasn’t always been kind, and the fight for equality and acceptance is an ongoing one. There is no doubt that my life’s been enhanced because of the people around me who’ve had the courage to stand up and share a piece of who they are with the world...and for that I say thank you.

I believe that love will always win, and every story will unfold differently for each individual. Mine unfolds a bit now. I’m gay, and that’s a story still being written...

Fan Zone article for Father's Day:
Excerpt ftom the end:
As Steve and Jason shared an embrace, Steve described how much of an honor it has been to be Jason's father.

"You can't own all of your kid's problems just like you can't take credit for everything they do. I didn't make my son an Olympian. He made himself into an Olympian," Steve said. "More than anything, I'm proud of Jason for being a good human more than an amazing athlete because I know I've done something right as a parent."

Leo Ishizuka's Instagram shows that Leo and Tsukasa Yajima, both are Japanese figure skaters, were trying to recreate Jason's FS moves in unison.

Leo writes: "Most of the conversations with Tsukapon (Tsukasa's nickname) ended up centering on Jason's technique" and adds a hashtag #ジェイソン研究会 (A study group on Jason). 😄

There's a nice article about Jason and his work with Ronald McDonald House Charities on the US Figure Skating site:

To celebrate U.S. Figure Skating’s centennial anniversary, we asked fans to share their favorite figure skating memories and athlete role models. Team USA skaters and alumni consistently go above and beyond to give back and serve communities in need. This month, we wanted to know: Whose off-ice work inspires you?

Across all our social channels, one name rose to the top of the list.

Jason Brown and his work with Ronald McDonald House Charities, which started where most skating stories do: on the ice.

Fan Zone article about Jason's friendships with Evgenia Medvedeva, Satoko Miyahara, and Grant Hochstein (who "did not like me at all," he said with a laugh. "I didn't realize that he was not a fan, but I weaseled my way into his heart."):

Jason Brown (USA) In the spotlight: Drawing strength from challenges (06 August 2021):
He decided to keep his successful Short Program “Sinnerman” from the past season and returned to “Schindler’s List” for the Free Skating. “Skating to Schindler’s List had always been a dream of mine, and when I finally chose to skate my Free Program to the music in the 2019/20 season, I fell in love,” Jason explained. “With the start of the pandemic cutting the season a bit short, I felt like I didn’t have the opportunity to truly see it through and knew I had more to give. That is why we decided to bring it back for this Olympic Season. It’s a slightly different version and the choreography has changed a bit, but I’m beyond excited to have the opportunity to continue bringing this piece to life and performing it again this year,” he continued.

In this US Figure Skating Fanzone article, Jacob Sanchez is very complimentary toward Jason:

Exerpt:

Like many skating fans, Sanchez admires Chen's athleticism and technique and hopes his jumps can be like the "Quad King" one day. However, it's Brown's portrayal of personality and artistry that Sanchez looks to emulate.

"In 2019, for my intermediate season, I skated to 'Riverdance.' [Brown's 2014 'Riverdance' free skate] was one of my biggest inspirations for that," Sanchez explained. "It was really my inspiration for skating, too. When I saw him, I told my mom I want to be like him. I want to skate to 'Riverdance.'"

The start list for Finlandia is posted. Jason skates 24th. He's not last but he is in the last group (as are Donovan, Brendan, Mikhail, Matyas & Evgeni). I'll be at work but hopefully will be able to catch some of the skating.
I'm banking on someone having put it online by the time I wake up in the morning. I'm not interested in watching the competition even if it were at a reasonable hour locally, but I do want to see Jason's programs.

Here is Jason's SP:

FS start order w/times

Jason starts 25th -- He goes directly after Mikhail Kolyada so there will be back to back Schindler's List programs.
