Jason retweeted an article about the new British men's novice champion:

A virtual seminar with renowned American figure skater Jason Brown during lockdown gave Isaac further inspiration to succeed.

“He idolises Jason now,” said Debbie.

The Alvin Ailey choreographed performance piece Revelations includes Sinnerman. The Sinnerman part starts at 19:40 but the whole piece is worth watching. I can really see the homage to Ailey in Jason's choreography.

Thank you for posting this! It just adds to my amazement at what Jason can do on the ice. I can't think of another skater who could do this.

btw, does anyone know whether Jason made it back to Toronto after Nationals, or if he has other plans?

Does anyone have a good link for Jason Brown's SP without messed up music? Please send me a PM if you don't want to post publicly. I have a friend who is a huge Nina Simone fan and I want to show her his skate. Thanks!

Jason’s exhibition number at Nationals is stunningly beautiful. Anyone found a link for it from the broadcast Sunday?

I talk to my Olympic teammate Jason Brown about his skating journey: growing up competing, being at the Olympics as our first time competing internationally as Seniors, Olympic sparkle moments, the artistic side of skating, the headspace that resulted in not making the 2018 Olympic team + the dark moments that came with that, to his current skating today and strategy for the 2022 Games!

Article by Lynn Rutherford:
Excerpts:
“I knew this was a special piece of music, it was a special time, and I knew Jason was special,” Ward said, adding that although the skater is not Black, “He has been close to people in the African-American community for so long, he has a different perspective than some people would have. He has the ability to make people stop and watch him and feel something. It doesn’t matter the race, the sex or the age, or anything.”
“Sinnerman” appears in the third and final section of “Revelations” – “Move, Members, Move” – and is danced by a male trio. Ward chose Nina Simone’s jazz-infused version of the spiritual, with its propulsive beat, for Brown’s short program.
Brown announced he will keep “Sinnerman” as his short program next season, with hopes to compete it at the Beijing Games next February. Following the 2021 World Championships, where he placed seventh, the skater returned to Chicago to polish the program before the World Team Trophy.
“It still has a ways to go, and I’m definitely going to watch more Alvin Ailey pieces and continue to learn as much as I can from them,” Brown said, adding, “It’s all about the symbols, the shape, the lines. Alvin Ailey is such a modern, contemporary take on dance, unlike anything I’ve seen before with other styles. It’s really about this abstract movement on a piece of modern music.”

Directly related to the article on Jason's "Sinnerman" SP that I linked above ^^^ - belated thanks to @katmari for posting a link to the section of Alvin Ailey's "Sinner Man" back in January:

I just came across Kaetlyn Osmond's upbeat chat with Jason before Worlds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMGs-PJWIJ0

I meant to post some of what Jason said immediately after his Worlds FS (copied-and-pasted from the pertinent Quick Quotes document linked from the ISU's Worlds event page) but forgot until now:

(how he felt after he finished his FS performance) My face said it all -- it was a mix of grateful, relieved and proud. As you know it’s been a crazy season, this has been a crazy event and I wanted to pull my weight and do the best I possibly could for Team USA. I wanted to go out there and give it my all I said Tracy (Wilson) to give it my all and not hold back. When I got off the ice there was tha sense of pride that I was able to accomplish that goal and stay as focused as I possibly could.
(his plans after Worlds) I’m going to be going home to see my family so I’ll be in the U.S. for a while and, depending on restrictions in Canada, the plan is to go back (to Toronto) in May at some point. I can relax a little bit knowing I will be going back to an old program most likely [he must be referring to "Sinnerman"] so there is a little bit of sense of calm knowing the program is ready in the wings to work on when I’m in Chicago.
(his reaction on landing his first quad Salchow in competition) Tears of relief, joy --it was a huge goal of mine. Just as you are not shy asking about the quad I’m not shy telling you how much I want it. I’m drilling it as much as I can. This year I was talking to Tracy about everything being cancelled and an opportunity, last season my quads were getting stronger, the pre-Olympic year is a great time to do that and we didn’t have that opportunity. I rotated, I’m getting closer. It was not downgraded so it’s a huge first step.

Published in the Fan Zone (April 20) - link is also posted in the WTT thread in GSD:
Excerpt:
Before the competition started, Team USA made some fun videos that were posted online to show our enthusiasm for the event. Because I speak Japanese, I helped the rest of the team learn some key phrases in the language that we used in the videos for our Japanese fans. We also made up some little dances that we used in the team box during the event to cheer each other on. Our team was incredible, and I am so happy that I got to spend more time getting to know each one of them a little better.

bow___bagley Thank you @jasonbskates for choreographing my new favorite program ❤️ #saysomething

FYI ... Bow and Jason used to train together.

A few other Jason related items:

Close to the secret of high score even without 4 rotations!
If someone could translate the Japanese youtube video it would be fantastic. What I can gleam is that one skater shows the other skater a few of Jason's jumps with crazy transitions (hydroblade into double axel, etc.) and then the second skater tries to recreate them. A nice demonstration of the difficulty in what Jason does and why he earns high scores.

The VK Russian fan site Jason Brown - Beauty on Ice posted his exhibition to Melancholy and tagged the composer, Alexey Kosenko (who is also a member of the site). He replied and posted the video on his page: Alexey Kosenko (Kos Sen) with the comment, "It's nice when you hear your track like this!)))))) Unexpectedly"

I just found this hour-long Zoom video from August 23, 2020 today - Jason being Jason with skaters from the Peninsula Skating Club (Silicon Valley area of CA) and answering some really good questions/giving thoughtful replies (ETA that Jason's answer to the final question -- asking him for "some words of wisdom & motivation" -- got cut off, unfortunately):

ETA this clip shared by USFS of Jason hugging the sweepers at 2020 4CC: https://www.instagram.com/p/CPByLG1ghYp/
