Eric Radford and Vanessa James to compete in pairs together for Canada

With an extremely limited number of exceptions, everyone who posts on FSU is essentially anonymous.
Which I don’t disagree with. But the general practice of venting and complaining and talking about life (to strangers, at that) isn’t exactly something new for people who have been on FSU or message boards in general for the last 25 years or so. Because she chooses to do it via the method she’s grown up with and reaches people that by and large happen to be her actual fans doesn’t mean this is a suddenly new 21st Century practice. And I still don’t remember people taking all others to task who have mentioned skating drama on their own accounts.

But there’s a generational divide on this for sure. I see people 🙄 about what skaters post on their stories, which is really just normal life behavior for many people. Oh a shirtless pic? Just scandalous! Not everyone has profile photos of inanimate objects or cats, for example. And I don’t know anyone in ‘real life’ that has a fake/modified name on Facebook.

((Raises hand.))) I’m on FB under a funny pseud, some people here know what it is. I never post or collect friends, I just need it professionally to see my org’s page and a few others. That was a deliberate choice because I never liked Facebook.

Twitter OTOH, I’m not only on under my own name but verified because if you’re a journalist or PRnik you just have to be.

I will never understand the point of Instagram but also have an account to supervise what my staff does.

This is the greatest thing to happen in Canadian skating since 2018. The drama, back-biting, and everything playing out on social media is great. Would be healthier to have it happen behind the scenes - of course - but then we wouldn't have 6 pages of FSU posts.

I was a big fan of James/Cipres, but Vanessa doesn't have the best skating skills in the pairs event - they're adequate but the top Russian, Chinese pairs are all superior in that area, plus Kirsten Moore-Towers, & Alexa Knierim as well. Her lines are good but she uses the body suits to help because she's not the most refined skater either, but neither is Eric Radford. I look forward to seeing what sort of programs they come with, and the drama that will ensue at the various competitions next year. Don't know if Skate Canada will have a high performance camp this summer, but to be a fly in that arena would be fun.

Meagan said in the comments to her IG post that J/R had been training together for 2 months with Julie Marcotte before she was notified of the partnership.

And she indicated that during those 2 months she and Eric had talked about doing shows/tours together in the future.

Wow, I have a huge amount of respect for Radford as a skater and as a professional, but I really wish he hadn't framed his response as "you can't make reliable plans with a woman because she might get pregnant".

Not to mention as @Cherub721 points out that Meagan already explicitly said she isn't planning on expanding her family.

Uh no that’s betrayal. If a member of my family helped my professional partner leave me for a better deal, that would be the end of that relationship. Marcotte isn’t the only pairs coach in Canada, they could have gone elsewhere.
Radford and James were Marcotte’s clients. Duhamel was not. Working in PR as you do, I’d expect you to understand that client confidentiality is something professionals are expected to maintain.

Honestly, I really don’t get your posts. Marcotte has been a long-time choreographer for Duhamel and Radford, on top of now being extended family. So yes, Duhamel is technically a client, and I’m sure no one here needs to be told what they should know in their lines of work when you only half-ass know details.

The part for me is not about motherhood, it is that the two of them are completely contradicting each other. Did Eric inform Meaghan, or not? Whom to believe?

I wouldn't pay to read anything "she" writes!!

I know everyone has an opinion on all sides but, listening to the interview with Asher & Dylan, it was clear that although Eric & Vanessa had been skating together they had no idea how easily they would be able to get her release from the French Federation, based on past history, well known to Vanessa. It appears that they didn't wish to make any announcements if this was going to crash before flying, so to speak, due to that hurdle. As soon as Skate Canada was able to get the (very quick) release, they spoke to other involved parties, including MT/M and W/M.
