Think I mentiooned this but Elephants is worth a look. It's a bit cutesy poo for a nature documentary but there's gorgeous shots of an elephant herd and Meghan does well as a narrator. She has a nice speaking voice and doesn't use the slightly international accent she adopted while Duchess. It's a good way to spend a quarantined afternoon.

This may have been posted, but I have not seen it. A preview of Meghan’s narration fo Disney. I don’t have Disney Plus so I haven’t actually seen the movie. It looks interesting so I may need to find a friend with Disney Plus once we are allowed to socialize again.

I thought Meghan sounded completely American in her speech. I live with a Canadian so I expected some influences in her speech but I didn't hear any & I didn't hear any British influences either. I'm not sure what you meant about Andrey Hepburn. Her speech pattern was instantly recognizable in every movie as I've never heard anyone sound like her. So I'm not sure what was "international" about it. Or Lady Gaga's either because IMO she has a regional accent.

But anyway my point is Meghan is a really personable narrator of Elephants and to watch it. Maybe she can do some Pixar voice-overs in the future.

Meghan sounds completely American to me, and Californian at that, which to my own Californian ears is basically without any accent at all. It may be that her time in Canada and her time in the U.K. influenced her speaking at the moment. As a child up until the age of four, I lived in the south, and I'm told my first spoken words had a southern accent, but that's long gone, lol. But I find it really easy to pick up again if I'm around a southern accent.

i agree. It also depends on what we are accustomed to listening too. I think I sound “Canadian” (whatever the heck that is!) But apparently some people hear a bit of my childhood accent. I think you are right that it is often words. Some phrases too are more telling.

ETA: with respect to Meghan, she is also reading someone else’s words which I think can make your voice sound a bit different than when you are chatting with someone.

Meghan has had voice training as an actor. Plus, travel and exposure to other accents surely impacts a person's speaking voice in different ways. Meghan used to have a very broad California Valley Girl twang, which has softened a bit and is much less pronounced.

Since I hope this might continue to be a positive thread about M&H, I will post here two nice tributes to Meghan by London hair stylist, George Northwood (who styled Meghan's hair for her wedding reception). And by London facialist, Sarah Chapman, who worked closely with Meghan when the Sussexes were senior royals.

Northwood:

Me too! I thought it looked a lot more like Meghan’s style. That said, apparently the wedding dress was exactly what Meghan wanted (which is so good because often brides end up being pressured into something that is not necessarily what they want. It has been reported that Diana didn’t really like her dress- who knows if that is true.) I think with the wedding dress she was trying to be very respectful of the venue and her new family. Both she and Kate probably would have ended up with different dresses had they not been marrying royals.

Disgusting news out today. Actually it happened on the 8th but I'm just now hearing about it. Apparently when someone typed archewellfoundation.com into their browser they were redirected to Kanye West's & Jamie Foxx's video "Gold Digger". ^^ It just shows the publication's ignorance. Harry doesn't normally use the Mountbatten-Windsor surname when he signs his name. As you say, he used 'Wales' in school and in the military, just as George, Charlotte and Louis use 'Cambridge.'

Once Harry became Duke of Sussex, that is chiefly how he signs his name. William used 'Mountbatten-Windsor' when he filed that French lawsuit against photographers who famously invaded his and Kate's privacy when they were visiting France. So possibly Harry used 'Mountbatten-Windsor' when he joined the class action lawsuit against The Sun, etc. The royals just have a lot of names, but they don't use all of them. Harry apparently wished to make things simpler for his own son.

A lot of British royal ways of doing things can be confusing, but they could look it up. There's so much lazy, trivial royal reporting. This article seems more about clickbait. M&H aren't changing surnames. They are still using Duke and Duchess of Sussex, without the HRH designations. 'Sussex' is a title bestowed on M&H by the Queen. Mountbatten-Windsor is still Harry's family surname, which is why it's Archie's surname, in the absence of Harry & Meghan wanting their son to to have a title growing up.

I don't recall having seen the green dress that Meghan wears before. I like the color.

It just occured to me that Harry is not a US citizen, so now I'm really curious about the process that they have to go through. (Possibly only because I went through an immigration process myself and know what a pain in the butt they are).

I assume the US has some kind of immigration status for the spouses of American citizens. I'm guessing Harry would qualify to live in the US under that status. I doubt Trump is going to throw him out for being an illegal immigrant

There are spouse visas. They require that the US spouse file a petition and I guess, that's what I'm mainly curious about as other visa categories have different regulations about filing petitions from inside and outside the US and under what circumstances you can then enter or not enter the US. It's really fun, like a never-ending labyrinth

I don't know if USCIS cancelled in-person interviews but I don't think I'd want to go through a process right now that requires an in-person interview and medical exam (that requires you to be at a doctor's office for at least a couple of hours).
