Adam is speaking at the Forbes 30 Under 30 conference in Boston.

https://twitter.com/NBC10Boston/status/1046784395888267264
His Boston City Hall appearance on Monday was a spontaneous one: https://people.com/sports/adam-ripp...-would-run-for-office-during-political-rally/
His official appearance at the Forbes Under 30 Summit was summarized in this article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/jennif...and-esther-povitsky-on-winning-the-fame-game/

Adam also got a chance to hang out with Ashley, Marissa Castelli and Ross Miner (as glimpsed in their IG stories) while he was in Boston.

I originally posted this link in the Virtue/Moir fan thread: https://www.flare.com/how-i-made-it/tessa-virtue/
Here's an Adam mention by Tessa:
Who is your favourite person to follow on social media from your industry? What do you love about their social feeds?
Fellow figure skater Adam Rippon is particularly hysterical. I love that he showcases his genuine humour while also using his platform to take a stand on meaningful, relevant topics.
Before Boston, he was in Laramie, Wyoming to film a segment for ABC's Nightline on the 20th anniversary of Matthew Shepard's murder that's supposed to air later this month.

Coming up soon (taped interview with People Now; ETA that his interview about his Will & Grace guest star appearance begins at the 11-minute mark): https://twitter.com/i/events/928406262244564992

He's doing more publicity today in L.A. for DWTS Juniors (show premieres on Sunday night), heads to Detroit tomorrow to be the keynote speaker at Equality Michigan's event, and then will be on a panel at a food festival in Forest Hills, New York this Saturday: https://www.theinfatuation.com/EEEEEATSCON/new-york/schedule

Tonight on @Nightline @JujuChangABC and special correspondent @Adaripp looking back on the death of Matthew Shepard @LaramieProject 20 years later. His life and his legacy....were with his parents who have fought for LGBTQ rights ever since.

Matthew Shepard died on October 12 (today) in 1998 from his injuries.

@aftershocks and others who might be interested -- Adam and Tracee Ellis Ross participated in the Dreamforce Equality Summit in San Francisco late last month - video of their session: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXpwKHG6KYQ
Tracee Ellis Ross, star of the hit sitcom "Black-ish," and Adam Rippon, Olympic Bronze Medalist figure skater, closed Thursday at Dreamforce with a standing ovation at the Equality Keynote. Despite being decades apart and from different backgrounds, both use their platforms to speak up for the equality for all. “When you have access, you are given not only the opportunity but — I feel — the responsibility to use it. Otherwise, there is no point,” said Rippon, referring to the bronze medal he won in the most recent Winter Olympics. Ross took a moment at the very end to remind the crowd to “stay curious, stay courageous, and vote!”

^ Just started skimming the WaPo article and noticed this little gem:
quadruple axel king Nathan Chen

Because every journalist writing an article about any figure skater simply HAS TO sneak in some random factually incorrect quad and/or axel reference in there. That's basically a required element in this genre... and always brings us nitpicky skating fans so much joy! :p

Yesterday Adam tweeted this article link with the comment: "My goal has never been to become more or stay famous. My goal is to find that next step. Find something that I can do really well and for a long time. Transitioning from one career to a different one is V scary but I hope you’ll be rooting for me"

Just saw Adam's latest IG story - looks like he attended the wedding of his costume designer, Braden Overett, and his bride, Jill, yesterday in Carmel, California - congrats to the happy couple! :)

Just wanted to mention that Adam did a great job choreographing Mariah Bell's SP to "To Love You More." Maybe it's just coincidence but at Skate Canada she was selling it like crazy in a way I can easily imagine him showing her how to do. The song is borderline camp IMO (sort of like a lot of country music)but Mariah and Adam made it look like a million dollars.

Happy 29th birthday to Adam today. :)

Adam and his mom were in Denver last month and their speeches were uploaded recently (Judy Shepard is at the beginning of the video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QUlN5RLvPo

Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon takes on the LGBTQuiz in a special Will & Grace Edition. From special guest cameos to cast impersonations, Adam proves how attentive he really was during all those re-runs.

I saw Adam on Good Morning America today. He was brilliant as he helped broadcast the CMA Awards from Nashville.

Not exactly breaking news, but... It's officially official now.

Adam Rippon, who will no longer skate competitively, reflects on "wild, emotional" journey

Thank you Adam for this and other beautiful performances over the years! :encore:
Indeed! Adam, you've been so wonderful on the ice!!!😍 And thanks especially for the birds. It's been a pleasure!

It really should have its own thread, as it's not exactly good news;) Though of course, not unexpected. Adam deserves a real farewell-thread. Should we start one?

I thought so, too - link to his GSD thread from a week ago: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ly-reflects-on-wild-emotional-journey.104770/

Replying to @sk9tingfan's post from August:
Adam will be appearing on yet another show produced by John Cena using hypnosis:

https://www.wdjx.com/john-cena-is-producing-a-new-prank-show-involving-hypnosis/
Adam's episode showed up on Facebook late last month - link to watch: https://www.facebook.com/DoubleTakeSeries/videos/493963854441854/
People article about it: https://people.com/tv/adam-rippon-double-take-facebook-watch-prank-show/

A reminder that Adam will make his appearance (not as himself) in this Thursday's episode of Will & Grace: https://hiddenremote.com/2018/11/22/will-grace-new-thanksgiving/
The first episode back from the Thanksgiving break picks up where the “to be continued” left off, as Grace asks Noah when she can meet his daughter and him saying that’s “not going to happen.” Of course, Grace doesn’t take too kindly to his response and accidentally forces her way into Katie’s life. Elsewhere, Will reunites with his mother (guest star Blythe Danner), and in the following week’s episode, Adam Rippon cameos and Matt Bomer begins a guest starring arc.

^^^ Oops, I meant to write "next Thursday's episode of Will & Grace" (Dec. 6).

Just saw this article with photos was posted in USFS' FanZone yesterday, Nov. 30 ("In honor of Rippon and his decade-long competitive career at the senior international level, here are seven of his top-scoring international performances."): https://usfigureskatingfanzone.com/news/2018/11/30/figure-skating-the-best-of-adam-rippon.aspx

There are two episodes left of Dancing with the Stars: Juniors and the finale will air on Sunday, Dec. 9, according to this Toronto Sun article: https://torontosun.com/entertainmen...pon-exclusive-olympian-soars-as-dwts-jr-judge
Excerpt:
Being a kid, I remember what it’s like being judged. I got a lot of comments: “Why are you there? You were just on! You were only on a 4-week season; you’re not experienced as a dancer!” That’s all true; my critics are just spouting facts. Why am I an interesting choice as a judge? I have been a competitor my entire life — and in a performance sport. I know what it’s like to put together a good performance — and I know what one looks like. I get to judge with Emmy-winning choreographer Mandy Moore and Val, who is one of the best ballroom dancers in the world. I’ve learned so much from them. And I’ve been able to relay my own experiences as a competitive athlete to my judging. Yes, judging kids is hard because they are all really cute. Every dance they did, I felt like crying. I felt like their mom! I knew the best thing for me to do was to give them constructive criticism but also let them know that I know what they are going through. It’s a crazy experience and it takes a lot of guts. These kids are gutsy to do this — and that will propel them to become successful in their career.

Back on Nov. 12th it was announced (eta: and posted in GSD by @Theoreticalgirl) that Samantha Bee's TBS show Full Frontal would air a special holiday episode titled Christmas on I.C.E. on Wednesday, December 19, from 10:30-11 pm and that Adam is scheduled to make an appearance -- from TBS' website: https://www.tbs.com/shows/full-fron...ticles/full-frontal-presents-christmas-on-ice
Bee will be joined at New York’s historic PlayStation Theater by special guests including skating superstar and Olympic medalist Adam Rippon. "I did not see her skate before I agreed to this,” said Rippon. “Can I still back out?" No Adam, you cannot.

Nick McCarvel interviewed Adam in NYC yesterday for NBCSports.com: In his new whirlwind life, Adam Rippon keeps lessons from skating close
Excerpt:
“I totally feel incredibly lucky to finish the way that I did,” Rippon said of his career arc. “But I also think that was because I had gotten to that point that I was talking about earlier, knowing what sports is all about. That happened for me three years earlier. I actually feel like even if I hadn’t gone to the Olympics, I would walk away from my skating career feeling the same thing.”
He continued: “Yes, I’m lucky to be living the life I am right now, but it’s a repercussion of the attitude I’ve lived by and the mission statement that I’ve had these past few years.”
This week is a busy one for Rippon, but most of them mirror it in one way or another. Monday he filmed with comedian Samantha Bee, teaching her how to skate. Tuesday he stopped by Rockefeller Plaza between interviews with GQ and The Players’ Tribune. Wednesday morning he’ll appear on The TODAY Show for a special announcement tied into more to come on Thursday.

I'm so glad that Nick McCarvel found his way to covering figure skating.

Also, I loved Adam's comment about the difference between being a winner and being a champion. :)

^^^ Yes, and I also liked this quote from McCarvel's article:
When I look back on my career, the one thing I can take away from it is that the whole point of sports is to push yourself to better who you are as an athlete and as a person every day. It took me a long time to realize that… and to realize that it wasn’t about winning or losing. It’s about putting yourself out there and put it all on the line and you can be OK with whatever that result is.”

Adam has been named Outsports' Person of the Year: https://www.outsports.com/2018/12/20/18148929/adam-rippon-person-of-the-year-2018

The Daily Beast's feature article: https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-adam-rippon-made-2018-his-bitch
Excerpts:
He tells me he’s working with the production company Portal A to start a YouTube channel and original content, and he’s also started writing a book about his life, which will publish next year.
“I’m trying to do as much as I can to parlay this into something where I’d be able to make people laugh, engage with them, be witty with them, which I love to do,” he says. “I feel like I can be quick with people. It’s my hidden talent. I’m trying to really find that next step.”
Of course, the year in Adam Rippon had plenty of other highlights. There was the time none other than Cher wrote his tribute when he was chosen to be in this year’s TIME 100. He finally got to meet her earlier this month at opening night of The Cher Show on Broadway. He thanked her for words in TIME, and she told him, “You know, people like us, the world just needs to accept us for who we are.” Dumbstruck, he responded, “Did you just say ‘people like us?’ Because if you did I’m going to have to go die.”
Adam Rippon readies for bucket list, and beyond: https://www.washingtonblade.com/2018/12/19/adam-rippon-interview/
Excerpts:
“I know what it takes to be a successful athlete,” Rippon said. “I want to start working with an acting coach, so when I go out for different roles, I’m prepared. I don’t want to be naïve and believe I can be successful in another career without putting in the work.”
...
Currently at work on a memoir likely to stick its landing in late 2019, Rippon said it will “share my experience as a young kid from a small town, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.” Expect the tone to be “lighthearted and funny, even when we’re talking about important events that didn’t go in my favor.”
Looking at 2019 as a year “to transition to a new career,” Rippon hopes “you’ll be able to catch me on TV a lot more.” As for bucket list projects, Rippon envisions finding a regular gig that builds on his work as a special correspondent with “Good Morning America.” He’d also like to be in a comedic feature film. And watch out, Britney — they’ll be no “Oops!” when he does it again.
“I’ll always be a skater,” Rippon vowed. “So I would love to have my own show in Vegas. I think that would be a lot of fun, and it would be a great opportunity for so many skaters, who are great performers, to showcase that.”
Here's Adam's and Samantha Bee's "play-by-play" segment from her Full Frontal holiday special on TBS last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSiOUYV9oD8
