Hahaha, what a bunch of sour losers here. The audience clearly love MR much more than MS. They know who are the winner. And P/C are grossly overscored for SD. Those twizzles don't deserve level 4 and 1.37 GOE.

P/C were overscored in pcs in the SD but the twizzles kept moving and they didn't lose any rotations so yes it's a level 4, they lost GOE.

Also, V/M have won and been overscored several times in their careers too, for the record.

Many Voir fans are completely out of control have have been since Davis and White started beating them six years ago. They are like a pack of rabid dogs! They're just full of...sickness!

Shibs are still the darlings for the USFSA. No doubt that skating in the team event helped the Shibs quite a bit with their nerves and confidence.

Madi and Zach did not skate to their ability and they've haven't gained any ground. They may have to be content with being US champions as their only major boon and perhaps move on to retire.

I agree that the Shibs are probably the favorites of the USFSA but I certainly hope Madi and Zach don't retire! IMO, they are just beginning to hit their stride and if they can finally skate clean, it's clear the international judges will go with them over the Shibs!

I know there are so many great North American teams. My point is that if Russia wants a great team equal to North American greatness they should copy all of what North Americans do and have their teams with potential join them!

Zhulin is a bad coach. He has not adopted the current popular styles and is weak in tech.

Yeah, I've not been impressed with Zhulin as a coach over the years. The one time where his students did impress (relatively speaking anyawys) was when he briefly joined forces with Evgeni Platov. I thought Navka & Kostomarov improved when that happened.

I agree that doing the team gave the Shibs an edge.

Have Hubbell/Donahue said anything about their future plans; are they sticking around?

I'm kinda gutted right now. I really, really wanted the bronze for them.

:fragile:

Looking at the standings, I just realized that B&S, C&L, and W&P all finished in the exact same place they did 4 years ago in Sochi, while Chock/Bates actually finished a spot lower than they did in Sochi.

Is it bad that the free dance has only been over for a few hours (and Worlds hasn't happened yet) and I'm already wondering what is going to happen next season?

Good chance there will be lots of retirements so the whole scene could change quite a lot. It's certainly the deepest ice dance has ever been at the moment but that might change.

Paul Wylie tweeted that he spoke with them in the mixed zone and they plan to compete for four more years. They do need to get the silly mistakes under control. Maybe another coaching change is in order.

and it is certain that this helped the USA team get the bronze medal

And the US probably still would have won bronze with H/D or C/B splitting dance. Yet, USFSA still chose them.

Skating 4 programs on olympic ice helped The shibs tremendously.

But, it's neither here or there. The competitions are over and Shibs fans should feel grateful.

okay :D , we people always must find the way of dealing with disappointments.

I think that the political clout of Gadbois has been H/Ds biggest ally. Provided PC stay where they are I think Gadbois remains the best place for H/D.

It's impossible to try to compare the team event with the individual. Completely different kinds of pressure.

We'll Shibs looked tentative in the SD TE so apparently the more time they had on the ice the more it helped them :)

Not if they messed up. Not saying they would, but we should never say anybody would have done anything. The fact is, the Shibs did it.

You are seriously saying that TE skates did not help The Shibs?

ETA: Don't answer that. I"m going to bed before I say something I'll regret.

What a :drama: event, I couldn't help screaming out loud on several occasions (at a moderate volume though, given that it was 6 or 7 a.m.). My personal favourites:

G/P - such an elegantly skated program, and her dress is to die for. Eagerly waiting for more great programs from them!
B/S - I think not being medal contenders helped them to relax and have a really inspired performance. A great Olympic farewell!
P/C - this was flawless and pure, and I will never be tired of thanking their team for selecting the original Moonlight Sonata and not some mutilated cover version (I sincerely love S/B, but I still shudder when I think of their FD music). I loved how the commentator pointed out their aloof face expressions and how appropriate they were for their program and style. He also described them as 'statuesque', a great choice of words IMO. So excited about more iconic programs to come!

The top :drama: moments were surely C/B and H/D. Alas, not uncharacteristically. But I'm happy that H/D stay, I'm sure they have much more to achieve.

And I must say I struggled to feel emotionally connected with S/S and W/P. Je Suis Malade was one of my favourite programs back in 2012, but now it just doesn't work again. And S/S seem to have concentrated on the technical excellence again - a wise choice and a deserved bronze, but something was lacking to my taste.

Lord knows the USFSA are not going to be politicking for them.

That might change if they were with one of USFSA's favored top ice dance coaches--one of the coaches who as had the ear of USFS for years now. These mistakes--the ones in the FD here, the one at worlds last year--have come on twizzles. That it's the same element says it's a technique problem and maybe they need a different coach to sort that out.

Schools come and go in fashion. Gadbois was popular this quad, but it may very well shift to somewhere else in the upcoming quad.

Congratulations to all medalists V/M, P/C and the Shibs who have all skated all out and given the best of themselves.
Thank you for it has been a real pleasure even if nerveracking for so many of us fans. The three programmes were quite in harmony whith their respective team. I love MS of course (I'm a P/C fan) but I really like the Shibs FD (their whole trilogy, costumes, musics and all) and eventhough I don't like their lift and I'm not crazy about the first half music of their FD, V/M's MS did grow on me. All three programmes were perfectly skated IMO and showed three very different styles of skating. That for me is fabulous.

I really enjoyed so many other teams : W/P, C/B , H/D, G/P, C/L , ....
Kudos to all skaters for their skating, their gorgeous costumes and all.

The marks including the big PCS indicate that Hubbell/Donohue were pencilled in for the bronze. I think they have a lot of political backing. If they didn't, the judges would have really stuck the knife in (like they do with other teams the moment there's a suggestion of a bobble).

The key to Gadbois' ongoing success is maintaining a stable of top teams. Or more specifically keeping PC there.

I don't know if the Shibs are the "darlings" of the USFSA. But if they are, they have earned that spot after a long time and without been "gifted" anything. For a very long time they were the "orfans" of the USFSA, yet they refused to give up. What they did is they improved and I am thrilled for their medal. Well deserved!:encore:

It's the victory I enjoyed most, personally. V&M and P&C had both a great skate in the free, but it's a pity that a costume malfunction decided the OGM. Overall though the best team won, and I'm glad we're over and there will be no more "rigged" and "cooking" accusation around (for now). :drama::sekret::shuffle:
