Ashley Wagner Cheer Thread #3: The Subject of Tonight's Lecture...

I’m so incredibly bummed. My guess is she just couldn’t find the motivation? I hope this isn’t it, but I have a feeling she’s done. So disappointed.

The likelihood of her getting called up as alternate is slim. I wonder if she was offered a broadcasting opportunity at the Olympics?

I would love to have Tara, Johnny AND Ashley in the broadcast booth.
"Now they'd put on quite a show....Very entertaining........Go on a take a bow..."

I don’t get the impression that Johnny and Tara really care for Ashley...so not sure that would work.

Is very predictable that Ash wasnt ever gonna go to a 4CC.... and for that matter any ISU B's....

Shes only interested in Worlds and an Olys.

and whatever 2 GPs are the closest to CA.

If she’s ready to retire why would she go to a competition so far away that is not a career culminating event like the Olympics? I can’t say I blame her. I’m just disappointed. And I believe this is a cheer thread so take your hate elsewhere.

Do you really think she’s going to stay home and train (without her coach and her close training mate and main support system) for Worlds on the off chance she will get to go? It just feels so far fetched. I wish it would happen and that she would get an amazing fairy tale ending but just not feeling like that’s how it’s going to play out.

Ashley hasn’t done 4CCs when she can avoid it. Raf wouldn’t go with her, she’d have to stay in Asia to train as alternate. Maybe there is sponsor work she’s getting instead.

LMAO, wasnt hate. Looks like you just joined a hot nanosecond ago. If you bother to read posts in this thread you'd see she's my favorite USA woman and has been since the 2008 Nationals. Checkout the forums a bit before you start flapping your gums like that.

But I am allowed to state some facts.

Ashley saying she wants SkAm and SC and then getting SkAM and SC and then me saying it isn't hate, Love.

Put your TV on Bravo tonight..... redirect your hardcore drama there.

I’ve been on here for many years and am not looking for drama. Not sure why you need to be so rude with your responses though. Glad to hear you are a fan. I will pass on Bravo. Nationals gave me all the drama I can handle.

Who says she isn't training? She says she is in her instastory.

Agreed but training for a completion in less than two weeks vs general training to stay in shape could be two different things. She has to train to stay in shape to go on SOI. The question is at what level is she training. You know? Time will tell I guess. Hopefully she will share an update with us soon.

She’s supposed to be training as the alternate but I just don’t see how she’s going to be able to do that based on that post. I hope she doesn’t get called in because I don’t know that she will be prepared and then the haters will just attack her more.

As someone who was a huge Ashley fan many years ago, I have now realized how misunderstood I think she really is. She’s a very intelligent, well spoken, driven woman. I don’t understand why people throw so much shade her way.

That post was very honest, but it doesn't sound like someone who is giving up. I don't think Ashley would put herself in a position to not be prepared.

I noticed P&G sent her the promotional package all the Olympic athletes get. I do wonder with so much sponsorship if she'll get a broadcasting role from NBC; they seem to like her.

Since she's known for her outspokenness and honesty, it would be fun if she did some commentary.

I do feel for her, but I feel for every skaters at that Nationals who thought they had a chance and isn't going. Ashley at least is an Olympic medalist, and always will be. So many skaters train their whole life to go to the Olympics and never get the chance.

Yeah, she's an Olympian, a Worlds medalist, and a National champion, and will always be all of those things. She'll do well and hopefully we'll get to see here in various ways for many years.

It's possible to have more than one dream. Her dream since 2014 has been going to the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. Just because she's been before doesn't invalidate her dream to go again.

Sure. It just wasn't as crushing as if she never got to go. In a close contest between Ashley and Karen, I wonder if the fact that they already pulled BOW help on Ashley once in 2014 helped swayed their decision to Karen this time.

I think that’s exactly what happened. And the reality is this season and last season weren’t great so it would have been more difficult to defend. They were likely pretty equal on criteria so they went with the podium. The questionable judging is more the head scratcher than the decision. Some people say they were pissed about skate America. I saw clear pain there. If their expectation is that athletes push through dangerous injuries then there are bigger issues there than I thought.
