Cute Zoo Pics Part 7

A Khao Manee - also known as a Diamond Eye cat, it emanates from Thailand and was considered a "royal cat" in Old Siam. Khao Manee means "White Jewel". They have different coloured eyes, a "gold" eye being amber/green, and a "silver" eye being silvery blue

I want one!

A Pallas Cat (aka an Otocolobus Manul) - named after the German naturalist, Peter Simon Pallas, they originate from the steppe regions of Central Asia, and they live throughout central Asia, from western Iran to western China. Within this range, they prefer the cold and arid environments of rocky steppes and grasslands at elevations of up to about 15,000 feet. Otocolobus means ‘ugly-eared' :(. Pallas’ cats are renowned for the fact that they have the longest and densest fur of any cat. Pallas’ cats go through two major color phases. In the winter, their coats are grayer and more uniform in color, while in the summer they have more stripes and ochre colors in their fur

A Scottish Wildcat - unfortunately there are just an estimated 35-400 left in the wild, due in part to habitat fragmentation, the spread of feral domestic cats, and hybridisation. They have a reputation for being extremely vicious and aggressive. They can kill, in seconds, any rodent, rabbit or hare unlucky enough to cross its path. Males often grow to the size of medium-sized dogs and can weigh up to 8kg.

This article sets out what is being done to save the Scottish Wildcat from extinction

A Napoleon - Just like Bonaparte, these cats are vertically challenged! They are a combination between a Persian and a Munchkin. Although they never inherited the Persians flat-faced nose, they do have the roundness of its head. It should be noted however that Napoleon Bonaparte himself suffered from ailurophobia - a fear of cats! In 1809, during the second French occupation of Vienna, Napoleon was staying in the Palace of Schönbrunn. One night, an aide-de-camp passed by Napoleon’s room, from which he heard the emperor crying out for help. The aide rushed into the room, and found Napoleon with sweat on his brow and a look of terror on his face, as he repeatedly thrust his sword through the tapestry lining the walls at a cat that was hiding behind it.
