Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir : Just For Us # 45

Who knows what Dave means? What's a "top dance team"? Top 3? Top 10? Top 15? There are bunch of teams who haven't announced music yet: V/M, P/C, B/S, C/L, G/P....

Of all those teams, who is most likely to do a dramatic love story?

Dave got this information from Champ Camp, so it's not about Russian team. We didn't know only BS music for FD.
I think CL will have something Italian, maybe opera in FD.
And GP didn't skate with American teams on home ice.
So my guess Hubble told about Montreal teams at Camp. So VM, rumours were at the beginning of the Summer.

Honestly, I could see V/M, C/L, or G/P do a "dramatic love story." G/P actually makes the most sense to me as I see the OOT drama of Moulin Rouge as being right up their alley, but I don't know if Dave has ever reported anything from their camp before? V/M make the least sense to me, tbh, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

And how do people know he got the info from Champs Camp, and not at another time?

Gilles/Poirier doing romance is :shuffle: and to their credit, I think they know this. I could see Cappellini/Lanotte doing Moulin Rouge but it's still outside their cutesy, old-fashioned comfort zone.

How does V/M doing a love story that plays up their chemistry make the least sense to you?

If they are skating to Moulin Rouge, it is less than ideal that SO many others are using this music this year. However, everyone was so afraid of them using Carmen because it has been skated to so often and then even many haters loved it. If they are skaing to Moulin Rouge - I am sure it will be terrific!

It's this particular story that doesn't make sense to me. I feel like Moulin Rouge is too over the top for them. Which is also why I could see a team like G/P do it. But I could be wrong.

Maybe they're using a more extravagant section from Moulin Rouge. One of the positions on the recent PR video they use looks like one they used while dancing with Sam Chouinard.

I'm a little disappointed to hear that P/C are working with a ballet dancer....in my dreams, V/M would do a voidy ballet, but sounds like P/C are doing that instead. However, I trust V/M - they always surprise me with what they do. Case in point, voidy Carmen.

yeah the first half of the movie is rather extravagant, kitschy and crazy, as though everyone including the camera were on absinth. its full of references to pop, rock and dance music. visually and musically, that first half is the work of a master. if a team is willing to exploit this "crazy" side, instead of just telling yet an other tear-jerking love story, there's plenty of "voidy" possibilities in it.

I very much doubt that any Gadbois teammates would reveal another team's music choices to anyone, least of all to a gossip hound like Dave Lease.

Do you not know how gossip works? They don't have to reveal it to Dave, just someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows Dave.

If they used the Bolero piece, it would cause all sorts of comparisons to T/D all while saying it was a modern take on Bolero. I'm surprised that there aren't more people who have used it - it has a dance quality to it for sure. We will know in less than one month guys! : )

On another note, how awesome are those videos of them working out? When I watch them working on stabilizers and endurance, doing one-legged exercises or slow transitions side to side, I totally get what they meant by how they have to be willing to do what others are not willing to do. That is a lot of long-term, daily work on non glamorous exercises.

I do know how gossip works. And I'm saying that that all the teams know how gossip works as well.

Maybe they'll be using the second Moulin Rouge soundtrack by Craig Armstrong? If they're using that, this makes much more sense to me.

Honestly, that MR rumor has been happening all off-season. If it had any merit, then I don't find it surprising that people with loose lips would talk about it and that talk would spread and then find it's way to Dave Lease. This could be true of a false rumor as well.

Too fast.

Check out some recent photos of other ice dancers on Snapchat, Twitter, etc. Believe me, ALL the top dance teams, male and female, are doing major off-ice training. I don't think you can be at a world-class level without it.
