Maybe I missed their names but did Marchei and Hotarek get a GP assignment? Also, South Korea is in Asia.

(@Hanna, feel free to start a new Finnish skating news thread in GSD now that the 2014 to May 2017 one has been moved to the Archives.)

Hanna was the one who suggested on FSU back in December 2016 that Liubov Efimenko consider pairs... and she teamed up with Matthew Penasse this spring after Simonen/Penasse split after Worlds. Penasse shared this clip of their throw triple Salchow: https://www.instagram.com/p/BWeDTCFjLZG/
They currently are training in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.

Well, the partnership for neither Chernivskaya nor Souza-Kordeiru lasted long. But at least both of them had a trip to the Europeans, which they wouldn't have if they stayed together. I wonder if they will now search for partners to compete for their new countries, or if they wait for release.

OH, Dear LORD, Sylvia.. A proper warning before I see this kinda man-candy would've helped me out.

WOW!

Im getting excited about US pairs with C&L currently will Mozer, Scimerim completely healthy, D&F doing good after reading @clairecloutier interview and after watching S&B Detroit performances (minus the Eleanor Rigby)!

Judging from Ksenia's IG story, Ksenia is at the camp in Italy but I don't think Fedor is with her; could be injury again. Bad news on Stolbova/Klimov scene again...I really ought to stick with pairs who aren't getting injured all the time!

At least the rest of the gang is having fun. The boys were busy showing off their behinds the other day...

You may have a hard job finding a top pair who doesn't have injuries.
Sui-Han - in the past missed nearly a whole season because Sui had some back injury. Before this past season, she had also surgery on both her feet.
Savchenko/Massot - she has had a few injuries over the years, the last one just during last season - injured ligaments and had to withdraw from GPF.

I know! So sad! And my other favorite pair Meagan and Eric also had injuries at Worlds.

Thankfully, I think it was a false alarm about Fedor - he's at training camp now, maybe his flight was delayed or something. He looks healthy (although I wish he would clean up the beard a bit). https://www.instagram.com/p/BXL4IBuBVaG/?taken-by=_tarasova_evg&hl=en

Okay... So besides Meagan&Eric, we've got these pairs doing sbs 3Lz:
- Deanna&Nate
- Miu Suzaki & Ryuichi Kihara (just did in both short and free in Asian Open)
- possibly Valentina&Ondrej plus the Austrian pair (have done in the past, haven't seen their programs this season yet)

Am I missing somebody?

I think there was a video clip of Duskova/Bidar doing side by side triple Lutz, but it doesn't mean that they will put it in their programs.

ISU: Featured Interview: Vanessa James & Morgan Cipres (FRA)

10 Aug 2017 - Lausanne, Switzerland

http://www.isu.org/en/single-and-pa...red-interview-vanessa-james-morgan-cipres-fra

After an outstanding season which saw them on the podium at the ISU European Figure Skating Championships, Vanessa James & Morgan Cipres head into the 2017/2018 season aiming for an Olympic Medal.

LOTS OF GREAT QUESTIONS in this interview including....

Q: What can you tell us about your new programs?
V: Our new programs suit us. We didn't try to copy or keep the same style as last year, though a lot of people asked us to keep our programs. Both styles of each program are very different with more transitions than last year. We both are completely in love with the themes, songs and choreography.

Q: What are your plans after the Olympic season?
M: We wonā€™t continue until the next Olympic Games, thatā€™s too long for us. Maybe one year after the Games, that depends on how next year goes and if weā€™re still skating well and we weā€™re still enjoying it.

(I got the impression Morgan maybe would want to continue, but not Vanessa.)

Replying to @lauravvv here:
Actually I was hoping to find the entry list for pairs, that's why I asked about a possible link. I guess I'll have to look somewhere else (on another thread etc.).
There are very few pairs entered in the Chicago club competition -- just the new ISR team of Conners/Krasnopolski (who have gelled quickly and are looking like a contender for one of the Olympic spots) and Fields/Stevens in Senior, plus Rockne Brubaker/Stefania Berton's lower level teams.

The North Korean pair skated impressively in both SP and FS in Quebec this weekend and debuted a FS (choreographed by Julie Marcotte?) to a French ballad:
Tae Ok Ryom / Ju Sik Kim (PRK)
LP Ginette Reno "Je ne suis qu'une chanson"
Here's their FS video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5wuj14

They finished 2nd overall 67.38 (2nd in SP), 113.62 (2nd in FS), 181.00 total.

^ Thanks for the link!

I was very impressed with the North Koreans' SP @ Worlds, but their Nutcracker FP was somewhat lacklustre. (Looks to me like they're wearing last season's FP costumes here, btw.) I'm a bit 'huh?' about the choice of music here but still, I'd say this program is a step up from last season, especially in terms of how the elements are placed in music.

If they keep skating like this, I'd put my money on them getting one of the Olympic spots @ Nebelhorn...

For those who prefer YT, the North Koreans' Quebec programs from the live stream:
Short Program (last season's "A Day in the Life" by Jeff Beck)
Free Skate ("Je ne suis qu'une chanson" by Ginette Reno)

^^ All teams are upping the ante. Cain/LeDuc had that 2A-1Lo-3S jumping pass in their fp last season by the time of their Golden Spin comp. Other competitors took notice and have increased their jumping pass difficulty as well:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkTP8h2Uw4U C/L fp 2016 Golden Spin

Just as all pairs are following the tech difficulty lead set by Meagan/Eric (particularly with more pairs attempting to master quad throws and sbs 3-lutzes)

ISU: Featured Interview: Vanessa James & Morgan Cipres (FRA)

Thanks for posting. I like how confidently Vanessa answered the question about Meagan/Eric training part-time with Zimmerman and having their programs also choreographed by John Kerr (doesn't Julie Marcotte still have choreo input?):

"Q: How do you feel about Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford joining you at least sometimes in training and about them working with John Zimmerman?
V: We take this as a compliment. They have also asked John Kerr to choreograph their programs. World Champions who want to train with us and our coaches after such an amazing season for us? We couldn't be more honored. I think they see we have the team and the keys to success. This gives us even more confidence that our coaching choice was the best we could have made and just the perfect timing."
