What song are you listening to?

^ Guys & Dolls has so much wonderful music in it! I'm shocked that I didn't grow up with this musical! Better late than never!

Listening to Pink Floyd songs --- IN MY HEAD --- from watching a concert on VH1 classic last night. Fell asleep during a commercial (too many) and had to wake up and turn the t.v. off. I've been up for almost 4 hours and I'm still hearing Wish You Were Here and Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Good stuff.

Was busy during Breakfast with the Beatles. On the radio now is Life's Been Good to Me. Turning off the radio now...........

You're turning off Joe Walsh? Blasphemy. ;)
It's just that LOOOOOOOONG boring song I don't like! Rocky Mountain Way I would have cranked up! Always reminds me of being in the car going to a high school football game. (*I* wasn't old enough to be driving!)

There are melodies that simply get me going: The lyrics are fine but it is the melodies that wake me up. I need these songs some mornings:

Imagine Dragons- It's Time https://youtu.be/sENM2wA_FTg

One Republic - Feel Again https://youtu.be/2tMKO_9SD1Y

and an old one hit wonder

New Radicals - You Get What You Give https://youtu.be/cPAEFnVZVOs

It is all about the melody for me in these songs. And now I'm ready for the rest of the day.

Why did seeing Diamond Girl make me think of this (not even the same year!) -

(crank up your sound!!!!!)
Chills, big time. (It's 80* here!) Must be the horns - Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Ides of March, oh my!!!! (My friend Shauna and I made up a baton routine to it.)
Oh gosh! I completely forgot about that song! Love it, too! Now, you've made me think of a song by Yes that I haven't heard for a long time, too. I have it on their greatest hits album.

Anyway, this song popped into my head!

Have to drag this thread to the top on Sunday mornings.

Long and Winding Road

After listening to American Top 40 - the Seventies: this week in 1971!!!!! Timothy, Friends (Elton John), Chickaboom, Love Story, Eighteen, Bread, Carpenters, Three Dog Night. Such good memories of my childhood.

And while I was typing that - Strawberry Fields came on.

I don't enjoy most popular current country music, but my husband saw Chris Stapleton perform on an awards show and was so impressed that he added Chris's whole album Traveller to our Spotify playlist. I don't think there is a single song from it that I would remove from our list.

For the last week, every time he cleans, he has Chris's music cranked and he is belting it out too, and it sounds great.

Stapleton was the real deal in that Timberlake duet. Justin was only wearing the guitar as window dressing.

I've been listening to this piece of music today. I forgot I had the music and came across it while looking through my albums. I know one thing, I think it either hypnotized or stunned my noisy loud neighbors because I haven't heard their music all day.

Gymnopedie 1,2 & 3 - Erik Satie (1866-1925), Piano Solo.

Thanks to a post in the RIP Prince thread, I'm listening to his cover of "A Case of You" by Joni Mitchell. It's just beautiful.

Nope. Close, but not quite...

'Uptown Funk!' Gains More Writers After Gap Band's Legal Claim

Here's a youtube video where they play bits of each song not only back to back, but also both songs at the same time:

Uptown Funk/Oops Upside Your Head
Yeah. Oops Upside Your Head is the oldest so that's probably the origin of both songs. Thank God people forget and new generations come along. It allows old pop songs to be recycled. Here's another one that's in the same vein: Walk The Dinosaur

Currently have been listening to new music....which for me means Somewhere to Elsewhere, a Kansas album released in 2000.
It's a strange album, all over the place stylistically. Love 6 of the tracks, and don't care at all for the other 4 which are not progressive at all, but more southern funk. It's quite jarring, but at least the title of the album makes sense!

I never thought I would say this but I like Sia's version of "California Dreaming" better than the Mama's and the Papa's version which was out exactly 50 years ago....
