Zingas/Kolesnik Fan Thread - They Have “It”

It’s funny. @BlueRidge and I were giving thanks that the era of everyone trying to be lyrical Pap/Ciz is over. And then Z/K started to skate with those long flowy strokes and we were transfixed. We both stood up to give them a standing O in my living room (the cat was highly annoyed) - so at least here that program was a huge hit. Who did the choreo?

Benoit

My first watch of the new FD was without the music, and I too was reminded of P/C almost immediately. I think it’s the outfits and the opening movements. The difference is that Z/K have much better lifts than P/C did. Vadym also knows how to partner extremely well.

Big thanks to @clairecloutier for this in-depth interview with Emi and Vadym!!
I look forward to cheering for them at Nationals.

Claire's interview got a good recommendation :) from their training mate Jonathan Rogers, who wrote on Instastory:
" read it, be inspired. it's wonderful "

Were Emi and Vadym involved romantically? It seems like they lived together? Are they still?

Emilea and Vadym are filming something in Italy with the Olympic Channel for this Olympic Season. Finger cross that Vadym has his citizenship in time for it.
It looks like they may be doing the same type of photos and vids that other Team USA athletes filmed at either Universal Studios a few weeks ago or at the CO Springs gathering last weekend. In their case, instead of fake snow and mountains, they have the real thing. :) The scenery is beautiful.

From their posts, it looks like they are in France to attend a training camp run by Benoit.

Yes, yes and yes. They’re still a romantic couple, still live together. See their IG Florida pics.

BTW, can’t wait to see their new FD! (Have mercy, Emi! Please post video.)
I follow them on TikTok and they are such an amazing couple, not only on ice but off ice as well. At least from social media, Emilea seems really sweet and Vadym is quite funny

Emi and Vadym have their first Challenger assignment of the season - Kinoshita Cup in Osaka, Japan, September 5-7. Should be a good opportunity for them to pick up some WS points. Next week they’ll be at Champs Camp in Boston.

I’m ready for their program announcements!

Cross-posted in U.S. dance thread.

Vadym is now a U.S. citizen! :cheer2: Congrats to him and Emilea!

I’ve watched Emi and Vadym’s new FD four times in the past day 😄 I’m just in awe of how crisp and comfortable they look with the program already, and I’m in love with so many of the little details and how they’re interpreting the music. Benoit has been a really great match for them as a choreographer. And I absolutely adore their costuming. I think the black gives them a sleek, elegant look and is different from the usual Romeo and Juliet styles. Kudos all around!

New 22-minute interview with Emi and Vadym is linked below, from Ice Skating International's channel.
Tatjana Flade spoke to them on Oct 26, the day after they won the silver medal at Cup of China.
(I think I hear Judith Dombrowski's voice too?)

Congratulations to Emi and Vadym!

I noticed Emi and Vadym are listed for Tallin Trophy. Tallin starts on November 25, just two days after Finlandia GP ends. That's a very quick turn around for Z/K. Helsinki to Estonia doesn't seem like a difficult trip, but even so, back to back competitions are always tough.

I wonder what the strategy is. Finlandia is such a stacked event. Maybe they want a chance to grab a few more points before Nationals.

I have faith in them..The yr they left US champs and found out that they were replacing C/B at 4 Conts..they did well.

I think Emi and Vadym are being extra-careful with all planning and decision-making for this season.
USFS assignments page has not confirmed U.S. dance entries for CS Tallinn Trophy yet.

Meanwhile, some thoughts about the possibility of Tallinn for Emi and Vadym:

GP Finland free dance is on Sat Nov 22. (And GP Finland has no gala.)
Tallinn Trophy rhythm dance is scheduled for Sat Nov 29.

Last season, Emi and Vadym competed at GP Finland free dance on Sun Nov 17, a few days before CS Warsaw Cup.
Their CS Warsaw Cup results: second in rhythm dance on Nov 20; second in free dance on Nov 21; and second overall.
Their 2024-2025 season's best scores for free dance and for total score were from Warsaw Cup.
Tallinn is closer to Helsinki than Warsaw was.
