Yuzuru Hanyu Divorced (updated)

wow this thread could have been relatively normal and yet
you're funny - thinking that this portion of the fan base has ever been relatively normal. I'd wonder how long we wait before hearing sekret baby conspiracies, but this particular fandom seems to view Hanyu as asexual, so a sekret baby would be well beyond their comprehension.

ok but skating needs more sekret babies blogs not less if only because I like being able to say "ok maybe I post about cpom too much but also I'm not making a sekret baby blog so I think I'm ok"

Ace? Are you referring to his love for "ice-chan"?

He was viewed as straight by many chinese fanyus, many of whom were heartbroken over his revelation.

He was viewed as gay (and non-binary) by many on twitter. Some shipped him with Shohei Ohtani, and others with Javier Fernandez before he "betrayed" 🕳️ during the previous Olympics. Now why they viewed Fernandez and Ohtani as gay, I don't know.

@Rukia - see, this is why this thread never stood a chance at being 'relatively normal' - the fanbase is way too, uhm... diverse, lol.

Kween actually followed through on the sekret baby wish - has anyone else ever done so other than Miki Ando (and hers was really more sekret father, correct)?

I promise this is the last one, simply had to post it

To their credit, several "fanyus" are also calling it all out.
I will never ever understand how grown-up people can behave like this.
I got a taste of the Fanyus at 2013 TEB in Paris and that was even before they went nuts completely. It wasn't fun at all back then already.

If I were Yuzuru I'd just pack my stuff, buy an island faaar faaaaaaar away, change my identity and live happily ever after without those psychos.

I used to be constantly surprised how many older women do this, actually. Not 75 year old grannies as was the joke earlier in the thread, but many seem mid-late 20s, early thirties. The fetishising comments from the 40 year olds are really something too.

Heh. Some suggest that it only got crazy after he won the gold, but tbh, with the way Japan treats skating and skaters, it's not surprising that it was crazy before that. And Asian fandoms especially can be crazy, and then Japan has all that pop culture influence through its media (anime and all), so especially people like him picked up those kinds of fans around the world.

That Twitter account is pure gold, though.
Even a parody of a Fanyu couldn't be THIS good.
You could sell them a piece of dogshit and say that Hanyu took a shit at your home and you collected it and they'd buy it for hundreds of bucks.
Amazing.

I wonder what these people do in their everyday lives.

Well, it's clear, reading just that one blog, that nothing in their everyday lives involves interacting with non-Fanyus except more than absolutely necessary.
I mean, reporting an article for "slander" simply because it said he mentioned skating more than his marriage in his announcement, should make it clear. And apparently because the author said she didn't like the choice of his words with the "nyuuseki" thing. At least according to google translate.

Shohei Ohtani being mentioned, of course, means Shohei Ohtani backstabbed him or whatever in the minds of some. I'm guessing we can rule him out as the spouse.

You made it through the entire blog? I am impressed. I had to give up halfway through it because I can't stand this obsessive whining.
It's like watching a trainwreck. I mean, like I said to @On My Own over in the CarPon cheer thread, it's still Sunday morning where I'm at and there's not much to do during the ice resurfacing at Cranberry Cup, lol.

I respectfully submit that while devoting one's life to Fanyu pursuits is weird, consuming such content is not good use of anyone else's time, either.
Hey I agree! But sometimes it gets funny/deranged and you can't avoid it  And tbh, it's an intriguing phenomenon sociologically. There was a thread on here about fan behaviour, if you recall, the Swifties.

It's like an accident. You don't want to watch, but somehow have to. We are all human and love to judge others. The Fanyus are just too good to be left out.
Whenever I am feeling sad or insecure about myself, I always turn to the Fanyus and then I can proudly say: At least I am not like this.
And it makes me feel good again.

As reported yesterday (Sept. 16) by Koreaboo, "an English-language web portal and media website focused on sharing K-Pop content":
His wife is said to be violinist Mayuko Suenobu, a professional violinist 8 years older than him. She is 36 years old in 2023. [...]
Mayuko Suenobu is a talented violinist who started playing at age four. According to the Tokyo Weekender, she received numerous awards in her youth, including a diploma at the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Your Musicians. Their marriage is indeed the union of two professionals highly recognized in their areas.
ETA on Monday that I really haven't been following the gossip/speculation online - this "article" popped up in my regular Google search for figure skating news. I saw that Golden Skate tweeted a link on 9/17 (presumably to the same one but has since deleted their tweet.

This video of their collaboration on the ice from the 2020 Fantasy on Ice tour was included in the article: https://twitter.com/anko_smile2525/status/1299125997288132608

You're quoting a tabloid. Tabloids have published articles about the potential spouse for weeks now.

This violinist is the wife potential number six; after a pianist, a retired idol, a regular woman from Sendai, an assistant, and a former classmate.

What is "a retired idol"? How does one retire from idolhood?
"Idol" in the popstar/boyband/girlband sense - so this woman likely quit her group/stopped singing. (think about it in the "American Idol" sense I guess - all those "Who?" winners and one hit wonders can be called "retired idols" in some sense)

About the article, yeah it's a tabloid, and it shouldn't be spread (that came on to my twitter, along with lots of disapproval, at least from skating fans).

So the violinist story might be a hoax? I’m trying to understand the messages.
