This is a bit difficult to answer.
Program-wise (competition days) it is Notte Stellata. Fave rendition: PyeongChang gala.
“Moment”-wise, It is Hana wa Saku during WTT 2021.
“Emotion”-wise, SEIMEI during RE_PRAY encore (He called it his masterpiece and I agree with it wholeheartedly.
“Pro-era”-wise, if I should choose only one it will be extremely hard, but I’ll stick with these three:
A Fleeting Dream for the beautiful ice projection and smooth skating.
Gate of Living for its avant garde concept.
Danny Boy for the footwork precision and beautiful spins.

Well we have different tastes :lol:

I have not watched anything since he turned pro, and tbh I was losing interest after PyeongChang (although it's quite a lot to do with men's skating in general). But before that, I thought his best gala was Hana ni Nare. I did think Requiem of Heaven and Earth was also stunning, but didn't necessarily feel the emotional connection personally.

My favorite program of his will always be Hope and Legacy. I never "got" Seimei.

I thought his Haru yo Koi gala was stunning, post-PyeongChang, and wished he'd done something similar in competition.

Requiem and Hope and Legacy are beautiful. Requiem somehow feels really personal for him, and watching Boston gala can be a bit difficult for me because of the raw pain.

But yeah, all his gala programs with David Wilson (Notte, Haru, Danny Boy) are beautiful.

Not seen Danny Boy, but I do like how you left out his competition programs from this :lol: The best thing he did for himself was to drop Wilson for competitions.

Oh also, I think HE is the best spinner of the men's field, post-CoP, although it usually showed up in his galas. There was something very beautiful the form and shape of his spins, the careful transitions between different positions, and the use of his arms during them... And they were beautifully timed to the music, too.

Anyway, I wish him best of luck for this year's skating.

Spins huh… Do check Danny Boy then. I especially love the final spin there. :)

He said he is preparing new programs for his new solo show. I am so excited!
 
That one's lovely! It's not cluttered and he hits positions he's comfortable with, making it look so pleasing to the eye.

I went and watched it. I also liked the two other spins in this program. Not a fan of the program overall, but that's okay 👍 I did enjoy the sound of the skates during the earlier section, when the audience wasn't making any noise. Wish that'd been the case for the rest of the program!
 
Figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu and other professional skaters will help support the recovery from the Noto Peninsula earthquake.

It was announced that "Noto Peninsula Reconstruction Support Charity Acting Competition Challenge Challenge" will be held in Ishikawa Prefecture on September 15.

Top skaters including Yuzuru Hanyu (consecutive winner of Sochi and Pyeongchang Olympics), Satoko Miyahara (2nd place at World Championships), Akiko Suzuki (3rd place at World Championships), and Takahito Mura (winner of Four Continents Championships) will participate in this event in support of Ishikawa's desire to bring smiles and energy to the people. In addition, the title of the festival, "Challenge, Challenge, Challenge," expresses the message of overcoming difficulties and moving forward.

In addition to the skaters' performances, the event will also be connected to the disaster-stricken areas in Noto via video.

The event cannot be viewed at the venue, but will be streamed live via a video streaming service, with proceeds from the streaming going to Ishikawa Prefecture to support reconstruction efforts. Details, including tickets, will be announced on TV Kanazawa's website at a later date.

The streaming ticket goes on sale starting today. The streaming platform is accessible only from Japan but the ticket can be purchased abroad. I saw some international fans on my TL buying tickets to donate to the cause.

The skating show will take place on the second day. On the first day, there will be a skating class for 20 elementary students living in Ishikawa, Fukui, and Toyama (determined by lottery). The professionals including Yuzu will teach the class.

The charity event in Noto is a success. The news report said more than 10,000 streaming tickets were sold before the show begin and the 5,000 t-shirts has also sold out.

There are two parts of the event:

First part is children skating class with Yuzu and Satton.
Second part is the ice show part.

Yuzu said he choose to keep the cost for the show as small as possible so there will be more funds to donate. He is doing the charity event free of charge (he confirmed it in his membership video), and choose to not using show lighting or invite guests for the purpose.

There will also a panel exhibition at “Rurubu Kitchen” in Shinjuku, Tokyo (20-30 Sept), which is currently holding the Ishikawa Noto Support Fair. Photo panels from the charity event will be displayed in the restaurant.

--Hanyu-san, in June this year, he visited Wajima City for an interview for the TV news program "news every." What were your thoughts as you skated to this charity event?

The strongest feeling I had was to make people smile, even if only a little. When I visited Noto, I could never forget the smiles on people's faces when they told me things like, "It used to be like this," and "These things happened and it was fun." I realized that the smiles became fewer when they talked about the present or the future, so I wanted to make people smile, feel kind and warm in the present.

-- It is difficult to shift focus from recovery to reconstruction, but how do you remember the road to recovery from your own experience?

I always had the feeling that I had fled the disaster area.

I was 16 years old, so I cannot do anything to help with the recovery.
We had no choice but to wait for the people and local people to take action.

You might think so now.

I don't remember it, but at the time I was tormented by such feelings of guilt. I went (to Kanagawa) with a sense of mission to do everything I could. In the midst of all this, I felt that I had been given a role that only I could play, which was to skate for the people in the disaster-stricken areas.
 
Yuzu did a memship radio (membership radio) in his YouTube channel on 28th September for about an hour. This is the second time he did this, the first is last month. He said it is okay to discuss the contents outside of membership so I'll share some summary. Basically he's sharing hints about his current activities, explained his thinking when creating a program, answers some questions from fans, etc.

1. He thanked fans for their participation in the Noto charity program
2. He explained about his latest YT program (to be release in public later). The song is using Taisei Miyakawa's song Last Ambient. Taisei Miyakawa is the singer for his Raison program during FAOI 2022
3. He's into video editing right now and elaborates on the tools he used, he also shared that he bought lots of fonts for it (lol).
4. He talked about his more "modern" program like Ashura Chan, saying how some people criticized it because there is 'no skating involved'. He is aware that his experiments may not be liked by some of his fans, the same way when singers change gradually their styles and it happens that new songs don't please their old audience as much as the older ones.
5. He then talks about the different types of music he wants to skate to to express himself. He mentioned baroque song to vocaloid, also named Yoasobi, Ado, and several other singers.
6. He said he's working on something but cannot announced it yet. He apologized for fans especially international fans about it, and is asking for our understanding. Said it isn't scheduled for November (cmiiw).

His statement "I've been figure skating for 25 years and have won many medals. I believe I have the right to pursue excellence; I don't want to settle for being "pretty good." People often think, "If skating can achieve this, that's enough," perhaps because they can't envision the beauty of figure skating at its peak. If I can show them that level of performance, their opinions might change. If I can achieve something impressive in the eyes of other professionals through skating, people's views and common knowledge could shift."

I have been vaguely pondering the meaning of "being alive" for as long as I can remember. Then, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and after meeting people who have been affected by various disasters, touching their memories and feelings, and also seeing the natural disasters all over Japan and the hardships all over the world that seem to be increasing rapidly in recent years, I have repeatedly searched for answers to the question of what it means to be "alive" within the "bioethics" I have studied and the philosophy I have thought and felt, then lost sight of them, then searched again, found them, and made assumptions.

If we turn our eyes outward, we may find ourselves lost in a society overflowing with information, in which we continually feel both our own pain and the pain of others. What is "life"? What is "me"? I wrote this story and program in the hope of providing hints to such enormous questions.

I don't think there is anything in this world that only I can do. With the development of AI and technology, the things that only humans can do are gradually disappearing.

However, I believe that with the team creating the show and everyone watching, that moment will become something that only "we" can do.

Together with the world's best team and all of you, we will ski with all our heart, soul and spirit to deliver the best experience possible.​
