ANA announced the end of the sponsorship contract with Yuzu. Seems it is a standard for them to end the contract 1 year after their athletes' retirement to give them time to adjust to life post-competition.

Towa released new video interviews between Yuzu and Itsura Yoshida san, the President of TOWA Pharmaceuticals.

RE_PRAY at Saitama Super Arena is a huge success with both days sold out (14k audience per day at the arena, then the cinema tickets and live streaming and TV broadcast).

I have to say that I have high expectation from this show and Yuzu managed to exceed it. It is an amazing show.

Can see the audience in this vid. https://x.com/proyuzuaxel/status/1721059477921898934?s=46&t=-LRcPTQzQP3eLtfErhwrYQ

There are several new programs from the show. So far I managed to find 3 videos:

Gate of Living (my personal favorite): https://www.reddit.com/r/yuzuruhanyu/s/7YSPoDlPIl

Megalovania (ASMR part): https://www.reddit.com/r/FigureSkating/s/jsJSOr65tr

After watching the "300+ skating" from some of the men these past few years... I say, as someone who's not even a fan, nothing's come close to his LP performance at 2017 worlds.

Very probably, the best figure skate... ever. In men's skating, anyway.

Yuzu's 29th birthday was massively celebrated on Twitter yesterday, with congratulatory posts from officials, sponsors, and fans. Some of those are linked below:

Fans are using the following hashtags for his birthday this year:
#Happy29thBirthdayYuzu
#ゆづHAPPYBIRTHDAY2023
#羽生結弦誕生祭2023

Cfans put three celebration videos on Times Square:

Fans are preparing a game to celebrate his birthday as well:

TV Asahi broadcasted the second day of RE_PRAY in Saitama during his birthday, and it is the version with Ashura-Chan instead of Hope and Legacy. The cheers were so loud after the LMEY performance, yet fans who were there in person said TV Asahi tuned down the cheers and it was even louder in person. :biggrinbo

There's also a celebration event in Cluster (Metaverse) after the broadcast, and it was well attended by fans. The event broadcast Ashura-Chan and Megalovania.

Yuzu personally thanked fans by the end of the day 🥰

And this morning he tweeted a teaser for his latest program on YouTube. He planned to publish 2 whole programs closer to Christmas.

He also cheekily updated his Instagram today, saying that he joined Cluster last night during the event.

Happy birthday, Yuzuru!!!

Month recap:

Yuzu has an NTV session about disaster awareness on 14 Dec. The videos are uploaded to their YouTube. The dogs he met were now being deployed to help the victims of the earthquake in Ishikawa Prefecture. https://twitter.com/marika_yuzu/status/1735242083966017969

The GIFT collab PB with CLAMP was released. https://twitter.com/CLAMP_news/status/1735133945715712495

Web Bellmark, an online shopping rebate network where shoppers donate cash rebates earned to support schools nationwide, incl. schools in disaster-stricken areas, discloses that Yuzu is one of their supporters. https://twitter.com/marika_yuzu/status/1735944578719760648

He released two new videos on his YT channel near Christmas:

He left a Happy New Year message on 31 Dec. He seems to post more to IG nowadays.

Also shared a Happy New Year message to CFans via Citizen:

Shinya Kiyozuka (who arranged the piano version for A Fleeting Dream) uploaded the music video on YT: https://twitter.com/ShinyaKiyozuka/status/1741749771579371565

Yuzu shared an encouraging message for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami on 1 Jan:

KOSE releases new athlete visuals to celebrate New Year(?), featuring Yuzu (figure skating), Ran Takahashi (volleyball), Shohei Ohtani (baseball), and BBOY Shigekix (break dance).

Yomiuri Shimbun will donate 10 million yen (USD 69,000) from donations and goods sales from Yuzuru Hanyu Exhibition 2022 to Ishikawa Prefecture as a disaster relief fund.

The release date for the Y photobook from Sponichi was delayed because they are waiting for the metallic blue paint to arrive from Germany:

Asahi will broadcast a behind-the-scenes interview with Yuzu for RE_PRAY on 7 January. It will be a 90-minute show. https://twitter.com/0717bintang/status/1736603844652741088

TV Asahi broadcasted RE_PRAY documentary with interviews with Yuzu, BTS recordings, and some full programs yesterday. The broadcast was terrestrial and it generated big interest from gamers and non-skating fans. :encore:

Can find the video here:

I am especially interested in the part about the dance choreography and the straight lines skating:

Here's a thread about the docu with some translations:

RE_PRAY in Saga will take place this week (12, 14 January 2024).

Saga City is getting ready for the show ^^:

RE_PRAY Saga is a huge success. There are adjustments made to the VCR and choreography, with an upgraded camera angle from TV Asahi. Very enjoyable. ^^

Now while we are waiting for the final installment in Yokohama (I'll go to Yokohama since I won a ticket! :biggrinbo ) The preparation and lottery have started for Notte Stellata 2024.

The ice show is scheduled for 8-10 March 2024, and the guest this year will be Mao Daichi, a former top actress in Takarazuka. I can't wait to see what kind of collab they have this year. As a reminder, this is the last year collab between Yuzu and Kohei Uchimura.

The guest skaters for Notte Stellata this year will be: Javier Fernandez, Jason Brown, Shae-Lynn Bourne, Satoko Miyahara, Akiko Suzuki, Keiji Tanaka, Takahito Mura, Rika Hongo, and Violetta Afanasieva.

The show will also be broadcasted in cinemas in Japan, Hongkong, and Taiwan, and live-streamed via Hulu Japan.

Just back from Japan after watching RE_PRAY in Yokohama. It's such a wonderful experience and fans from more than 20 countries were there in person. :cheer2:

Someone shared a highlight for the ice show on Reddit:

I especially love the fan chant part

In total, after RE_PRAY Yokohama, Yuzuru has sold more than 112,000 tickets to his 12 solo ice show performances after going pro (cinema and live viewing not included). What an amazing year for him! https://twitter.com/Henni147/status/1759527872413237754

He shared a video to thank the fans: https://twitter.com/marika_yuzu/status/1761708681404760385

There are lots of celebrations today on Twitter since it is the first anniversary of his GIFT at Tokyo Dome performance.

SEKKISEI released their new Yuzuru visuals:

Notte Stellata Day 1:

It is a sellout show to a 6,100 audience in Rifu, Miyagi.

Here's the namesake of the ice show: Notte Stellata.

The collab program this year between Yuzuru and Mao Daichi is Carmina Burana.

Other than that, he also skated to a new program, Danny Boy.

Today is the last installment of Shigesato Itoi x Yuzuru Hanyu's discussion, titled No Matter When the World will End. I enjoyed their discussion so much:

Yesterday is the 13th anniversary of the earthquake, and Yuzu shared a message on Twitter:

Also, apparently after Notte Stellata day 1 there is a sudden announcement that Chinese media will stream for day 2 and day 3. Even with the last-minute notice, more than 340k people were watching on day 3. :40beers:

Citizen released a new collab project with Yuzu, focusing on his Axel Journey.

This is the advertisement for the watch, shot in (no surprise here) Wine Studio Sendai.

FAOI has released the artist list for Tour A (Yuzu will only participate in Tour A this year).

RE_PRAY Miyagi this week. The advertisement in Tokyo Station is up:

First day of RE_PRAY Tour in Miyagi ends successfully. Yuzu gave his best performance during the tour so far, with no-miss performance throughout the show! (He went clean in Yokohama Day 2 but fell during the LMEY encore) 🥰
Hochi reported that it is a sold-out show with 5,800 people in attendance.

NTV showed some footage from Megalovania. As expected of Yuzu, he tweaked the animations (again), adding the sliced heart image on the screen.

Some VIPs were attending the show and are full of praise. :encore:

Robert Campbell, Professor at Waseda University:

Masaki Nakanishi, Representative Director and President of Amuse, Inc.

Best of luck for the second day tomorrow!

It is getting more and more difficult to deny you people's point that Hanyu is the best male skater ever. The "best" skating at the men's event at these worlds was a mockery of skating. I get that people are excited about the competitive aspect of skating that made the men's event exciting, but for the life of me I can't understand why anyone would want to watch the top 3 again outside competition.

I do like some of the lower level ones (Ivan Shmuratko as an example), but for the top ones from the past several years? You guys win. It's not close. (and yeah, he's ahead of Dai as a skater to me, even though I enjoy Dai's skating more)

I love competition-era Yuzu but I also love pro-era Yuzu so much. He's trying new things he cannot do in competition and it is very interesting to see his continuous growth. ^^
